- devnevot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+62Though his answer to the question is funny, I find that the police action is actually quite sad - I hope no harm comes to the man.
- Firemeboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+41He should have followed it up with "Now go away, or I shall taunt you a second time."
In a bad French accent, of course. - ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+41That could be an assassination attempt.
- jexdawg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+37He says that the polish leadership is turning back into a communist dictatorship and he gets a nationwide hunt after him for farting? Apparently, he was right.
- stryker2you, on 10/12/2007, -5/+41It depends on what type of "fart" it was. Was it a loud one, a smelly one, a juicy one, or just a small one? Charges depend on the type and smell of the fart.
- forcedfx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+32I fart in your general direction!
- affanjam, on 10/12/2007, -3/+34Or was it the silent but deadly type.
- DiggityDugged, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24The crime and punishment will most likely be the same - bending over :)
- bechardjm, on 10/12/2007, -14/+34...for now
- harumph, on 10/12/2007, -11/+31watch for this sort of stupid law to appear in the u.s. soon.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Well, FFS, he is Polish. Have any of you eaten Polish food? If so, you can certainly identify with this guy's response.
- danz, on 10/12/2007, -6/+20I would hate to see his reaction when asked about our president...
- garyh84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14You know what's the funniest part about this... They are mad basically because he said the President was bringing Poland back to it's communist ways... then they go and arrest him for farting when asked to show more respect.
Oh the irony.... - cheddar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Did you even RTFA?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+17the spatter fart would definitely show the highest form of contempt, and also cost him a new pair of underwear, which is a double whammy. That probably falls into the double jeopardy category if it exists in polish law since he paid the price already.
- ChronicColonic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10RTFA - It was contempt for Poland's president, not Bush.
- UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12I would love to meet a certain President and let out a big fart as I shook his hand. It's a sign of respect, IMO.
- JonnyTrombone, on 10/12/2007, -9/+16I love the US- we still have Freedom of Speech!
- filipf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8This actually happened. Sort of. This is quite an old story. The guy was a homeless drunk sleeping at the train station. I'm not sure if he farted or started some name calling, but he is being sought by police. This is a criminal offense in Poland.
- everfresh59, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9LOLOLOLOL..... He "sharted" at the president....
- MagicBobert, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11It amazes me that people bitch about the current state of our government in the U.S. when ***** like this happens overseas, and everyone thinks it's funny!
- Jacob, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8you sir are an idiot read the ***** article it's not talking about Bush.
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11Actually, Bush's team weeds out potential farters at all public meetings by making attendees sign a "loyalty pledge" that forbids contemptuous flatulence.
- halleyscomet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Please note, the two sources for this story are Ananova, and All Headline News
AHN also has the story of Ram Rati, who eats a Kilo of sand a day as part of her regular diet:
http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7005037719
By now, most people should know just how reliable Ananova is.
I'm not saying this ISN'T true, I'm just saying I'd like to see it in a more reputable source. - ChronicColonic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7What's an MWD? Man With Diarrhea?
- Xarou, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Guys, this isn't funny. This man is real dangerous. I mean, who else could manufacture biological weapony right in his own bowels... OK yeah, it's funny. Look how much the government in Poland has on their hand to have a manhunt for this. I can see the headlines now.. "Government is looking for Neighborhood Friendly Gas Man, considered gassy and stinky"
- starvo, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12And freedom of Flatulence. Although who really ones to try and put that to the test over here? And if thing's don't turn out OK, can you be sent to Gitmo for farting?
- SpacePope, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5These guys unfortunately deserve to be farted on...
If you know polish here's
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTlJ89zwGdU
what happened
The guy was apparently homeless and said some things about the president and (maybe) his brother when confronted by police (i don't think he was being arrested). Then he vanished and they launched the manhunt. They don't say he actually farted at the president. - Ark7, on 10/12/2007, -8/+12I was going to make a joke about how liberal diggers would make inevitable "bu$h will do teh same here z0mg nazis!!11!" comments, but I see they've already beaten me to the punch.
- ChronicColonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I bet when they find him, they will not be cuffing him with Chinese finger cuffs...
- yonas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's a real shame that we're in the 21st century and people are still getting arrested for the pettiest things....Poland needs to observe freedom of speech.
- jellygraph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3c'mon... a nationwide search for a man who farted and alerting interpol? don't you think the police in poland would have something better to do with their time?
i highly doubt this story... but if it were true, the guy deserves a medal for being awesome - kolobcreek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"The Fart that Shook the World"
Someone had to say it. As crude as that man may have been the police and courts proved him right. - Ascus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4One of few articles that makes me happy I live in the USA. I hope he gets what he deserves in Poland, a good media campain behind him!
- rezoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3As far as I know there were no farts.
Hubert just said some swearwords concerning our unbalanced president and his twin brother. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Greetings from Poland :). It's strange that our TV isn't saying nothing about it... or I think this is very old...
- Ark7, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Probably the worst and most non-sensical attempt at sarcasm ever, garyh84.
- v3xt0r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3In other news... a polish man was arrested today on suspicion of bio-terrorism...
- szym, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't know where ananova take their reports from. That was over a month ago (August 23rd) and Hubert H. did not fart. Maybe something got "lost in translation".
It was ridiculous nonetheless. But tagged as inaccurate. - Mulo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Is Farting considered a form of speech?
- musntSurfatWork, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The president should have taken this man's fart as a compliment. The man simply responded to the presidents' wifes' delicious cooking. Now there you have a true reason to hunt him down!
- DooDooFace, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just farted. I'm going to turn myself in
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hmmm, sounds like an enemy combatant to me. Guess they need to pass the type of legislation there that we have been blessed with.
Let's see what happens at the soon to be US 'check your papers checkpoints':
Officer - "Sir, how do you feel about the current administration?"
Me - (ripping a massive belch) *****!
Officer - "Sir, I take offense to both your language and the fact that you burped in my presence. Do you know that you could now be found guilty of aiding and abetting the enemy with that kind of response?"
Me - "Officer, my apologies. I guess I will answer your question without speaking." (I get out of the car, walk over to a nearby stop sign, grab the sign post, drop my pants and take a massive ***** in true Jackass the movie style)
Officer - SIR! You have been found guilty of high treason! (takes 9mm from holster and puts one in my temple)
Game over. Welcome to America in the year 2010. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes, a bit of overkill. We'll see though won't we?
- Roycerson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Harumph,
no need to make it a law, Now they can hold you with no formal charges whatsoever - ardenr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No, anyone who thinks Bush is good for anyone but Bush's friends is a moron. My political views are abstract conepts, Bush being bad for the world is a proven fact.
- deter1ii, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1with their beedy little eyes and their flapping heads
- Ark7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Ah, yes, because anyone who disagrees with your political views is obviously a moron. Good to know.
- homsar999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Priceless!
'What do you think of the president?'
'Wanna know? PFFFFTTTTT!'
I can just imagine it. :-P - Nefir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Going through such an ordeal must really stink... but it too shall pass.
