- Stroggoth, on 03/16/2008, -7/+34!!!!
The photo is of a plastic model island with lighthouse, the kind you would find on a model train set. Evidence is easy to see in the hand-painted green rock area, and the silvery looking area near the house, and also the small twisty driveway near the boat. The blue car is also a model. The whole thing was then cut into a real photograph of the ocean. Evidence is the fact the water angle and focal distance is different from the plastic model.
The whole thing is then pointless, because any irony the car on the island had was lost when you realized that there is no such car or island...

- bingobongony, on 03/15/2008, -0/+12It is a hatchback. Easy to load the supplies, and small. Small makes it easy to get it to the island in the first place. (They didn't drive it off a boat onto the island.) And uses much less gas.
Anything you can carry in one load with a pick up truck you can carry with two trips in the hatchback. Worth the tradeoff. Probably also easier to load the lower hatchback than the back of a pick up.- Ph240Z, on 03/19/2008, -0/+0"uses much less gas"

- damndj, on 03/15/2008, -19/+8Not even a good photoshop job.
- jessestorm, on 03/15/2008, -6/+68... he obviously leaves the island, at which point he uses his car to get around.
- gregish, on 03/15/2008, -2/+11I hope this is sarcasm...
because the fact that he leaves the island gives no reason as to why he needs to bring his car there. why can't he just leave it at the dock on the mainland- DeadFox1, on 03/15/2008, -0/+13Well, obviously, ever since he got into an argument with his wife (3 years ago...) and moved to this island, he has had to bring the car with him because she has been threatening to cut the brake lines if he left the car at the boat dock. This was the only way he knew the car would be safe. duhr.
- andergriff, on 03/15/2008, -0/+14Lighthouse operators arrive in teams and stay for a few weeks or months at a time. This island is far enough offshore that it is visited by a large resupply boat/ferry. The car is loaded with food and supplies on shore, driven onto the ferry, then driven right up to the cottage upon landing. It's the easiest way rather than unload a car, put the supplies on a boat, unload them onto a cart, and walk/pull them to the house. Quite logical, if humorous looking.
- jessestorm, on 03/15/2008, -0/+5You'd park your car in your driveway if you had one.
- Ph240Z, on 03/19/2008, -0/+0Parking at the dock is sometimes limited to three days, if he has a long weekend then he'll need to move his car, you can see how annoying that can be can't you?
- lobsterxcore, on 03/16/2008, -3/+2fail.
- Lionhart, on 03/16/2008, -1/+3Plus that boat doesn't look like it can carry that car.

Besides, he might be taking the car on another boat to the island back and forth from the mainland. And parking in the mainland may be expensive, so its cheaper for him to have is car go back and forth via boat. - nullcodes, on 03/15/2008, -5/+42Yeah, I dont get it either, what's the use of parking half way between the boat and the house?
- KibblesnBitts, on 03/15/2008, -0/+7He's driving back to the house......or in reverse towards the boat.......it's what you would call an action shot

WE all run adblock and hotlink directly to images. - widgetmaker, on 03/17/2008, -0/+1Cos if you own an island (even a tiny one) you really care about some crappy website.

- 955701, on 03/15/2008, -4/+16Probably for when he brings more on the boat that he can carry? I'm guessing the weather isn't always good since it's a lighthouse, and it beats the heck out of lugging stuff one armload at a time. A wheelbarrow would get stuff wet, a golf cart uses electricity which is probably in short supply, a pickup truck - wet again. A hatchback seems like a pretty good choice actually.
- morcheeba, on 03/16/2008, -1/+1How about a shopping cart? It's probably what he uses to load up the car in the first place. Or a conveyer belt?

- bingobongony, on 03/15/2008, -0/+2You are right...the one person who probably lives there should carry all the supplies for both his living and the lighthouse by hand up that path to the house. Mazy bastard not wanting to carry hundreds of pounds of stuff down that ath by hand.
- youri, on 03/15/2008, -0/+1Why couldn't he just build the house closer to the boat then? Or make the dock closer to the house?
- bingobongony, on 03/16/2008, -0/+1Do you SEE the island? Lighthouses are always on the highest point of an area of land to maximize visibility so ships can see it. (sort of the whole point of a lighthouse.) The boat dock had to be on that side of the island because it is the side without steep cliffs.
Not to mention...I don't understand why people think that the solution they came up with is so complicated or crazy. Take an old car, ship it to the island, get a crane to put it up on a path, and leave it there. Simple. And cheap.
