- linaman2, on 05/16/2008, -1/+50it's all the more impressive considering that the pilot probably can't really see what he is landing on.
- burgerboy06, on 05/16/2008, -6/+39OH YEA. I could land a jet on a moving BOAT!
- Accolade1, on 05/16/2008, -2/+30That would make a great ending to any Indiana Jones movie, provided there are tribesman on pursuit and a hot actress driving the RV.
- bmalnad, on 05/16/2008, -1/+27I have. OK... it was an aircraft carrier.
- shanethetrain, on 05/16/2008, -5/+21I did that drunk last weekend...
- radarbeam, on 05/16/2008, -0/+10He was side-slipping in. That gave him a good view of the "runway" from his right side. Listen to the commentator.
- rogersj3, on 05/16/2008, -1/+8I'm in college and I found it humorous...
- PhattyPhattMatt, on 05/16/2008, -2/+9not that funny...
- Magnolit, on 05/16/2008, -7/+13i like turtles
- inactive, on 05/16/2008, -0/+6This is the first "whooosh" comment I've seen dugg up. Of course he was referencing an aircraft carrier.

I like turtles too! - aggemam, on 05/16/2008, -0/+4Jonathon does not need to mull this one for long. Jonathon turns to the reporter and says, in a voice that is both flat and emphatic:
"I like turtles." - PabloMac, on 05/16/2008, -0/+4Interesting, but nowhere near as engaging as College Humor video #1788161.
- roosterjm2k2, on 05/16/2008, -2/+5Actually, visibility isnt that much of a concern. Its a Piper Cub... you can see the wheels out the window, and even moreso if you open the door (can't tell from the vid, the door is on the right side...the plane flys just fine with it open).
If you want to be impressed, go to youtube and just lookup Piper Cub ... you will see the stuff this little bird can do...it has a very low stall speed, and fat wings so it stays quite stable at lower speeds...which is why you can do stuff like that...
Also, anyone that has Flight Sim X on the computer can do the same thing (its a mission) and you do get a good appreciation for it... - imacmike, on 05/16/2008, -1/+4Why not land your plane on another plane instead?
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,356176,00.html - Xanrez, on 05/16/2008, -0/+3dugg for skills. sick, just sick.
- dougmc, on 05/16/2008, -0/+3The Piper Cub ... is there anything it can't do?
(Well, beyond going *fast* ...) - iamthejeff, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2As long as the plane's speed matched the RV's speed, the plane wouldn't have to brake at all. Mythbusters proved it when they did the "drive a car into a moving semi truck trailer" myth.
- worldchanger, on 05/17/2008, -0/+2That's airplane. Last drunk I got in an RV, and ran over a week.
- namegotstolen, on 05/16/2008, -1/+3And by a space shuttle you mean your penis. And by her bike you mean her vagina.
- n1eb, on 05/16/2008, -1/+3You can do this exact same thing for yourself in MS Flight Simulator X as a mission.
- AronT, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2Wait!
Did you say a mobile home driver sped UP? No, lies - I'm burying this as inaccurate! - ricerfuel, on 05/16/2008, -3/+5the REAL question is how the plane is going to get down from there or will the RV have to 'assist' it back into the air.
- awesometastic1, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2ah but he can only side-slip for so long and then he has to straighten out and just hope he stays centered and it is under him when he tries to touch down....
I really think there should be a "that's what she said" somewhere in response to my sentence there... ;-) - dougmc, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2Actually, if the plane has enough dihedral (and I'd say a stock Cub probably does) you can fly it just fine with just rudder and no ailerons. Your turns won't be coordinated, but you'll still have plenty of control.
R/C guys do it all the time, making planes that don't have ailerons at all. - BeatPunchbeef, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2Its Kent Pietsch flying an Interstate Cadet.
- fuzzybeard, on 05/19/2008, -0/+2"Tower, this is Ghostrider, requesting a flyby."
"Negative, Ghostrider; the pattern is full."
"Tower, Ghostrider. What about that Winnebago; bearing 010?" - qwertydvorak, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1a great appreciation for it. that mission is still pissing me off. i have spent tons of time trying it.
- kinneys, on 05/17/2008, -0/+1I get excited just successfully backing into my driveway. *hangs head knowing he can't beat that*
- greatgatsbyII, on 06/03/2008, -0/+1Hey this person is bad commenter. It look wrong.
- fuzzybeard, on 05/19/2008, -0/+1That can be fixed...*evil chuckle*
- Jan33, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1not much different from blasting wamprats in beggars canyon back home
* shoots self * - inactive, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1I do this on Flight Sim X all the time.
- inactive, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1How much does a plane like that cost?
- Virgule, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1blast the wheel brakes, speed up the RV, wait for some kind of 'lift', apply full power on plane, release brake and fly?
- jwolcott, on 05/16/2008, -1/+2Aircraft Carrier Landing?
- 22magnum, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1yea i saw this at the Reno Air Show. The pilot in the Cub really knows his *****. He also puts the plane in a stall and kills the engine at about 100 feet above the runway, and pulls out of it like a champ.
- inactive, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1Heli missions are much better (especially fie-fighting add-ons) Cub in FSX=boringggggggggg
- zadadka, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1"Fireflash, lift port wing, lift port wing!"....
- LOCK3D, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1I saw this done on a discovery channel show called "Air Dogs", where these 2 pilots (one very good test pilot and one amateur) travel around and get to fly different people's planes. This stunt is done quite often by some old pilot in the States for air shows. The amateur pilot couldn't do it (he's generally a pretty ***** pilot), but the test pilot guy managed to land it on the RV after a few attempts. This is one of those shows I got sucked into simply because it looks great. HDDISC does that to me often.
- Necromancyr, on 05/16/2008, -1/+2The REAL question everyone wants to know is what if the top of the house was a treadmill moving at exactly the same speed as the plane in the opposite direction...would it still land?
- roosterjm2k2, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1The Cub doesnt have alot of dihedral at all (i think 1-2 degrees is all...)
What is does have is an asymmetrical rudder (its longer front to back on the bottom than the top), the extra length at the bottom induces roll naturally. Flying one is easy because coordinated turns require very little aileron to be just right...and at higher speeds you often put a little opposite aileron to counter it... - wutimatang, on 05/16/2008, -1/+2That's nothing, last week I ran over a drunk in an RV and got on an airplane!
- Stuchus, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1Impressive, now how do you take off?
- DeFex, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1I do that in bf1942. the the plane and ground vehicle usually suffer from unscheduled disassembly.
- dougmc, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1They've probably added some extra dihedral to the planes they use to do that stunt. It's not terribly difficult to do, especially when you've already got the covering torn off for an an annual inspection/rebuild. (The mechanic offered to do it for my dad's Super Cub in it's last overhaul, but my dad decided to leave it stock.)
There's also a few different `Cubs' out there, and if I recall correctly the dihedral is one of the things that varies from model to model. But it's certainly possible to tweak it if you want to. - fuzzybeard, on 05/19/2008, -0/+1and add a steam catapult.
