- Fanrir, on 02/05/2008, -2/+62It's not pink. It's lightish red.
- xstarsprinklesx, on 02/05/2008, -0/+36Wow, pretty sad when calling kids "adorable" makes you a child predator..
- spdrxc, on 02/05/2008, -1/+34I can't find waldo anywhere!
- rach28bp, on 02/05/2008, -2/+34kids today are so spoiled. really...
- iThenticJoce, on 02/05/2008, -3/+34This reminds me of the movie Juno, what color is a gender-neutral?
- Oomsoup, on 02/05/2008, -1/+31It's not innate. It's societal.
- 0rion16, on 02/05/2008, -0/+27Thats not true...I'm a guy, and my color was hand-me-down. At least Ethan knows how to rock though.
- Echelon2, on 02/05/2008, -1/+20I detect a future headbanger in picture 3. Rock on, future of metal.
- E4tH, on 02/05/2008, -3/+21damn these kids are spoiled
- PixelD, on 02/05/2008, -1/+16They have a name for that......PINK!
- rynTAU, on 02/05/2008, -0/+13Did anyone notice the phrasing choice of the picture titles, and the avoidance of the phrase "pink things" ?
- borez, on 02/05/2008, -2/+15Yellow seemingly
- Cartmack, on 02/05/2008, -4/+17Anyone else think this was going to be a "Red vs. Blue" joke?
- Sansui, on 02/05/2008, -0/+11An older article about this: http://hueconsulting.blogspot.com/2007/03/why-is-b ...
Relevant quotes in linked article:
"Originally, pink was designated for boys, as it was thought to be the stronger color. In Christian tradition, red was associated as male, and its ‘little’ sibling pink was used for boys.(source) Blue was associated the Virgin Mary and therefore considered feminine."
"After WWI, blue was used extensively for men's uniforms. Therefore, blue became associated as more of a masculine color. From the 1940's onward, pink was pushed as a woman's color. "Think Pink" was the marketing slogan to convince women to embrace their femininity. Dressing girls in pink reinforced this role by conditioning with a set of rules that started with little girls, made of "sugar and spice and everything nice." - xstarsprinklesx, on 02/05/2008, -3/+14I like pink in moderation, but blue has always been my favorite color. I would have chosen blue over pink for pretty much anything, but toy companies just make an inordinate number of pink girl toys and blue boy toys because of society's stereotypes. I don't think it's entirely up to the kids themselves; when 90% of the products come in that color, what do you expect?
- wily6, on 02/05/2008, -0/+11Rock on, Ethan!
- SyntraFTW, on 02/05/2008, -1/+11Doesn't matter, Juno was awesome.
- KillPenguin, on 02/05/2008, -0/+9I don't think different genders will innately choose blue or pink generally, I think it's just that most boy's toys are blue, and most girl's toys are pink.
- kidjay, on 02/05/2008, -4/+12those kids are effing adorable.
- ricree, on 02/05/2008, -0/+8It's definitely social. Prior to the 1920s the convention was actually reversed, with pink being considered a more masculine color and blue considered the more feminine. Take a look at the wikipedia page for pink, it has a small amount of information on this. I've seen better sources, but can't remember them off the top of my head.

- IpwnZnoobs, on 02/05/2008, -2/+9those kids are gonna hate their parents in about 10 years.
- cerealjynx, on 02/05/2008, -2/+8Dugg for Superkid throwing up the horns, LMAO
- isunktheship, on 02/05/2008, -0/+6definitely, 2 years old and he's headbanging at a 6th grade level.
- MajorPayn3, on 02/05/2008, -1/+7I know this really isnt the point of the message, but this kinda gets at me and shows how much we take for granted. Those kids, maybe just around 5, have all these thing (just in that one color mind you) and there are so many people thta have nothing. Im not saying we should go out on a mission or lower our standards of living, it was just a little reality shock I got from this
- Asianwaste, on 02/05/2008, -0/+6I hate you guys.
- synys73r, on 02/05/2008, -1/+6WOOT!!! Koreans on digg
- Oomsoup, on 02/05/2008, -1/+6Oh I don't agree. It's not essential at all, nor has it always been there. There is always something (I'm assuming) besides actual physical gender that differentiates girls and boys but it doesn't have to be "pink vs blue".
- inactive, on 02/05/2008, -1/+5Green to Yellow, so Greenish-Yellow.
- saucedmike, on 02/05/2008, -1/+5Anything named after a dessert.
- Apokalyps2547, on 02/05/2008, -1/+5This is an artist's observation of ACTUAL trends, observed in MOST boys & girls.
The artist never claims all boys or all girls behave in certain ways, nor does he suggest they should. There is nothing sexist about this. - Cylu, on 02/05/2008, -0/+4Man, that's just too much. I'm a girl and I hate pink ever since I was little.
- schroeder, on 02/05/2008, -0/+3More like a mauvy shade of pinky russet, like a Sheltenack Jupleberry shrub.
- MsAntiSunshine, on 02/05/2008, -0/+3Someone said that to my English professor once about a tie. His defense was, "I don't know! I'm not gay!"
Stereotypical of him, but humorous. I am admittedly posting this to find out if you're my professor, lurking. - Lennalf, on 02/05/2008, -0/+3The color of coral according to its gender has NOTHING to do with human psychology. You have proven nothing, except the fact that you are mentally unfit for the practice of science.
- cyannn, on 02/05/2008, -0/+3these kids are way too spoiled
- cogitofire, on 02/05/2008, -4/+7How the ***** does something like this make it to the front page???
- inactive, on 02/05/2008, -0/+3why do they call "buying a lot of ugly chinese landfill in the same hideous color" a project?
- purzzzell, on 02/05/2008, -0/+2according to this "art project", it's these kids in "their" world of [pink or blue] - supposedly, these are the kids with their own things.
- EzraT1, on 02/05/2008, -1/+3How about some diversity.
- Lionhart, on 02/05/2008, -3/+5And here I was expecting some sort of Halo machinima.
- aduzik, on 02/05/2008, -0/+2Yep. The idea was that pink was the color of ruddy, flushed, healthy cheeks -- just the sort of thing people wanted to associate with boys. Blue was supposed to be more delicate, fragile and demure, so they dressed girls in blue.
- inactive, on 02/05/2008, -5/+7Then the Vikings came and burned it due to overload on the gayness meter.
- unorginalityftw, on 02/05/2008, -0/+2I really have no idea what you just said.
- soubriquetical, on 02/05/2008, -0/+2wow... i hated pink even as a little girl.
- Kuldar, on 02/05/2008, -0/+2Purple of course..
- bradcrc, on 02/05/2008, -0/+2either that little girl has the most giant feet in asian child history, or they cheated and threw some of mom's shoes in the picture.
- cderagon182, on 02/05/2008, -0/+2I spy with my little eye something pink!
- synyster, on 02/05/2008, -0/+1because people have more important thing to do in life(like browsing facebook, play console games etc) and not everyone is into history, but is good thing someone pointed out.
