- rgodfrey, on 10/11/2007, -3/+203Perhaps the 100x100 should instead be known as The Last Supper.
- ThinkBox, on 10/11/2007, -27/+159OMG IM TIRED OF THESE CHRISTIANS RAMMING THEIR IDEAS DOWN MY THROAT!!!!!
*rams burger down throat* - neckfire, on 10/11/2007, -2/+123They are not exactly hidden, more like subtle.
- otakushark, on 10/11/2007, -13/+106I don't care if Christians wrap my burger in a Bible quote, just as long as they don't try to put them in my science book.
- reddevil3, on 10/11/2007, -9/+99As an atheist I don't give a ***** what In-N-Out does, but I do remember that Christian woman getting annoyed when Starbucks wrote something on their cups which questioned God.
- nymphetamine, on 10/11/2007, -2/+67Here's another secret of in n out: ask for a cup of water and score some free wine.
- thfulleffect, on 10/11/2007, -3/+61it's a privately-owned family-run company. the family happens to be Christian. i don't have to read their book to eat their delicious burgers.
- Gatesophile, on 10/11/2007, -4/+57Um, I don't even have any In-N-Outs around here and I knew this... I thought this was common knowledge.
- Dysarthria, on 10/11/2007, -20/+68I don't know who should be more insulted, atheists for being exposed to a religion who's main message is "be nice to people" or Christians for having the words of their god around a greasy box of fries.
Lets call this one a tie and move on. - praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -7/+49Yeah, I really don't know why it's considered an urban legend...
And they can put all the bible passages they want on their wrappers as long as my burger is good. Privately held companies FTW! - tyler0is0sexy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+40yes, yes we knew and we still eat it..
- Patogrande, on 10/11/2007, -5/+32Good thing this isn't old news. Oh wait.
- Anrkist, on 10/11/2007, -1/+27Who cares, Chic-Fil-A isn't open on Sundays.... but they make some damn good chicken, shame it's always packed with people... I'd eat their Xian chicken more often.
- feelingkettle, on 10/11/2007, -3/+28This violates the separation of church and burger. I am deeply offended!
- borninda818, on 10/11/2007, -4/+27It's pretty good dude.
- AladinSane, on 10/11/2007, -4/+26Oh for heaven's sake. The Subby just BARELY noticed this? Welcome to 1988 folks. In other news, the sky is blue, water is wet, and people are using Teh Intrawebs to try and drum up stupid flame wars by posting lame "OMG! DID YOU NO THAT SUM PEEOPLE BELEEVE IN TEH GOD!!!!111"
- nepawoods, on 10/11/2007, -5/+23You're new here, right?
- slasherx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18I have tried to order the 100x100 at certain in-n-out locations in the orange county area and even smaller 4x4-6x6 burgers but they have stopped giving you more than a 3x3. I was able to order the 4x4-6x6 combos at one point in time, but not any longer. As far as the bible references, this is nothing new really. Great joke btw. :P
- siszam, on 10/11/2007, -4/+21Is your belief in nothing so threatened that a bible verse scares you? People have a right to believe what they want. Not just atheists.
- thatsmyaibo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15The reason it is only in California (and a couple of surrounding states) is because they have to be located within an 8 hour drive of the main facility to keep the food fresh which means less preservatives. They do everything from cutting their own potatoes to fresher and healthier oil for cooking. I don't know where you get the idea McD's or BK is better for you.
- coheedcollapse, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18I'm pretty sure this was submitted as a cool thing that some people might not notice, not a complaint. Most people here are generally cool with Christians as long as they're not bastards about what they believe in and what other people should believe in. This is just a real life easter egg...or something like that.
- tehpwnrate, on 10/11/2007, -2/+16They use cholesterol free oil and fresh ingredients, and I don't think it's greasier...
- JackSrenton, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14thanks for cleaing that one up for us. :-/
- Botanicus, on 10/11/2007, -3/+16I dont think the verses are intended to be related to food necessarily as they are general things people should know about Christianity. You know, that faith Digg likes to bash but doesn't know?
- Rikkochet, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13I knew it as "Jesus Burger" long before I ever visited one.. Finally checked one out this fall and had to look pretty hard to find the "bible verse" (which ended up just being the stupid pointer anyways).
Burgers were pretty solid - clearly the Lord is with them. The devil's in the fries, though.. Dunno how anyone can eat those greasy platters. - madbadger, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14you just notice this now???
- jeranon, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15Suck it up Princess... I live in Edmonton. I've been craving IN-n-Out for 4 years now (last time I went to Cali)
- Schmidtopolis, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12The fact that you responded to that is saying A LOT.
- borninda818, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13proselytizing: v. 1. To induce someone to convert to one's own religious faith.
In case anyone else doesn't know what it means. - coheedcollapse, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13I've been here long enough to know that in general Digg users respect Christians who aren't all self righteous and ***** to those who don't believe in the same thing that they do. These hidden quotes aren't hostile or invasive in any way, therefore I don't picture them being a big deal at all to the majority of Digg users. Most of them don't care about Christianity unless it has to do with disrupting education, involving the government, or discriminating against others.
- montiff, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12OMG HE WAS TOTALY SARCASTIC IM SO PISSED THAT YOU DIDN"T GET THAT !#!#!##
- rm999, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10I think just about everyone I know who has eaten there has noticed it or knows about it. If you want something that is actually hidden, look at their hidden menu:
http://www.tiburon-belvedere.com/cgi/home.cgi?c=In_N_Out - rm999, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Good point, they would be boycotted out of business
- mrfreeziexp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Oh and their shakes are awesome too... Cookies and Cream is so freaking good.
- therightclique, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8that's just wrong!
- Cmonkey67, on 10/11/2007, -3/+11Yeah..."hidden".
First off just to get it out of the way I'm agnostic and don't care for Christians.
That said, In n Out is an admitted Christian organization/company and these bible verses have long been known. I'm sure if you sent in some sensationalist news reporter to get in their CEO's face about it he would be more then happy to admit it and praise god in the same sentence. It's a business, their allowed to do whatever they ***** want, welcome to America, please drive through. - Schmidtopolis, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Either way... Grease=Great
- ngmcs8203, on 10/11/2007, -3/+11The original founders of In-N-Out are Mormon, not Christian.
I take that back... they are Christian. Thanks Wikipedia!
"The practice began in the 1980s during Rich Snyder's presidency,[23] a reflection of the Christian beliefs held by the Snyder family." - Kazenodeku, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9To the best of my knowledge, Mormons are to Christians as Christians are to Jews.
Mormons have the Book of Mormon in addition to The Bible, and Christians have the New Testament in addition to the Old.
They all worship the same JuedoChristian (is that right? you know what I mean) God, but they're very clearly not the same thing. - redbone, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7It could say "burn in hell, pudge-gut" and I'd still eat it.
My only beef (har har) with Christian business is with Chick-Fil-A. Seems like the only time I ever want some waffle fries or one of their sandwiches is about midday on a Sunday. - siszam, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11They aren't prselytizing. They are practicing their own faith not trying to convert you. Just because people don't hide in dark rooms and gather in secret doesn't mean they are trying to convert you.
- GodisGood, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8I don't know how Mormons can be called Christians, because their version of Christ has nothing to do with what the Bible teaches... There is only one God, in three persons, not many gods, as the Book of Mormon teaches. Momons believe Jesus was procreated from a heavenly father, and a heavenly mother, and that Jesus and Satan are brothers. The Bible teaches that Satan is a created, angelic being. Mormons believe that they will become gods of their own planets - where is that in the Word of God? No... Mormonism is not even close to historic, Biblical Christianity.
From http://www.4witness.org/mormon/online/lds_beliefs.php:
LDS authorities and church manuals have taught that Jesus is the “literal” Son of God whose fleshly body was physically “conceived” and “begotten” by Heavenly Father and Mary in the same way that children are begotten. (Mormon Doctrine, p. 742; Family Home Evening, 1972, pp. 125-126) Although LDS leaders today tend to de-emphasize this belief, it has never been officially denounced by the LDS Church. - ngmcs8203, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7The fries are the best "well done" and "animal style"
- JQP123, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9"...atheists for being exposed to a religion who's main message is "be nice to people" " Not quite. The main message of Christianity is "play along and win a prize (immortality)". Whether you're nice or not really doesn't make much difference as long as you play the game.
- WootZoot, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Old news is OOOOLD. These aren't meant to convert anyone. they are merely honoring the favorite passages of the founder's son who died in a plain crash. That's why they are so small and out of the way, its a special thing for a select few people. In n Out is nothing but respectful to their customers and would not try to force religion on any of us.
- edilclyde, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6eat your heart out!
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cb/Flickr_hellochris_202508906--In-N-Out_triple_cheeseburger_fries.jpg - RickySan65, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Why.. it's caption obvious to the rescue.. tadaaa
- StGhurka, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5The great thing about their fries is that only minutes before you eat them, they were whole, un-peeled potatoes.
By the time you eat a McDonald's fry, it hasn't been a potato in months - Lyght, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7I can stand the attacks that Diggers make against my religion, but you did NOT just insult In-N-Out and its delicious fries. Bring it.
Oh, yeah, and the fries come in a tray. - ngmcs8203, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5That sucks... I still get 5x5's when I'm really hungry. But those are rare. 3x3's usually hit the spot. Once they lay the burger on it's side in the tray, you know you're setting yourself up for a long night of, "*****, why did I eat so much hamburger meat and cheese?"
