A tutorial on creating art with latte coffee:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDZs__m5iAI - crawfishsoul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8But I will call it delicious!
- Amusing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The coffee art of Kiki is very well done, and probably my favorite.
- Amusing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@Klitzy
Aye, just found one of the old articles...but I could swear there was another as well.
http://digg.com/tech_news/Amazing_pictures_of_coffee - n8r0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I like my sugar with coffee and creme...
- wild, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3My local barista sucks.
- neuralzen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+41) There isn't much cream, it's fairly thin
2) It means it feels like silk in your mouth
3) It has micro bubbles which carry the coffee taste better (it matters, OK?!)
4) It doesn't take extra time, I can pour a rosetta in about 15 seconds...all it takes is the skill to steam the milk properly - RubMe4Luck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Dugg just for the Kiki coffee cup.
- dbixler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4They need one with a likeness of the Virgin Mary so I can buy it for a buck twenty-five and sell it on eBay for 25 grand. Well, if it's from Starbucks, I'd have to pay about 7 dollars but still, that's a huge profit margin.
- wendelgee2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Most of the "leaf" designs take almost no time at all and they're considered de rigeur at fancy-pants coffee shops. The other ones: yeah, your coffee would be pretty and cold.
- goodbeershow, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7But can they do a goatse?
- IntellEJent, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Those images must have been manipulated using Adobe® Photoshop® software.
- civperc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Fkn a, I hate how sites like these call themselves "blogs". They scrape content, get dugg, and profit.
- hikaruzero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I was just about to post the same thing, but it seems you've beat me to it!
Absolutely amazing! The level of detail in that cup looks akin to the level of detail in modern manga ... - skyfire1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3AMAZING!
- FieldAnonymouse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Odds are these are being made just as art pieces, not drinks for random customers. Besides, do you really want them to take half an hour to make you a cup of coffee anyway?
- bwizard, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3So having been a barista for over ten years and worked in some of the top places in Seattle such as Victrola Coffee, Essential Baking co. etc its great that someone can sit around in make this "art" but try to pull that ***** when you got a line to the door. I mean the leave's are easy and quick to do but the rest are way to time consuming for any one who really slings coffee. Who wants to wait fives minutes for a drink while some under-paided, and uninsured germ pit spit's all over their drink?
- Lou3000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@slapded
Most of the baristas do the really quick tree designs or heart-like designs, it is just as fast as a normal pour, it has everything to do with the way it is poured and it isn't done after the pour is finished. - neuralzen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They are called Rosetta Leaves. You can also free pour hearts, tulips, and other crazy stuff. I can free pour a triple rosetta (one leaf on each side of the drink and one in the middle), or at least I used to, I haven't pulled shots professionally for a while now. When you see a piece of latte art, it also shows the foam is juuuust right (nice and velvety), you can't pour the designs as well with crappy foam. Check out this rosetta my buddy did in a 2 inch macchiato!

- RVSTY, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you like that, you may like this kids self portrait as well. It's not in a latte but pretty cool none the less.

p.s. This is not me, nor do I know the person. - Arturion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh, dear... the Worms Armageddon sound of "amazing!" just came to me when I read that. Thanks, now I'll have to go and play it and waste more time.
- deadlyinnocence, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thats amazing :-D Delicious pieces of art! :-P Though I'm not sure if I'd be able to destroy it...but I guess thats the reason why people have digital cameras. Yay for camera phones lmao
- MichelleLDevon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1These are amazing! I mean - I don't want to have to wait for them to do them at a restaurant, but they're neat to look at on a website...
- OwdenBowden, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Holy Edit Batman.
My Comment seems to have been removed. - markdr123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh, just drink it like everyone else.
- jonbon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You don't need cream at all to acheive this. It's just a technique while steaming called Micro-foaming, and a little bit of experience pouring. But as neuralzen said it does not take time if you are pouring a leaf (rosetta), heart, dragon, swan, plant, whatever. All that etching stuff is just for show and only useful when there's a cute girl waiting for her coffee.
- GREEDOnvrFIRED, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think from now on I will read the word "Amazing" as "Nifty."
- REsplin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@ wendelgee
only people that use "de rigeur" go to fancy-pants coffee shops - jonbon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Very cool, I also agree that doing some of those in a public place with a line would be way too time consuming. But if you get a really cute blonde I'll usually etch one of these bad boys in, I then proceed to get her phone number (mom or not) haha. Also those leafs and hearts take no time at all and take just as long as it would to pour the cup.
I have a few videos I filmed of the Canadian Barista Champion 2006 pouring an amazing leaf (rosetta), a dragon, and a some other crazy stuff. You can check it out here: www.http://baristacollege.com/colter.html, I also created a video tutorial on latte art if some of you are interested in learning how to do this at home, check it out here http://www.baristacollege.com/latteart.html. - evanmyers, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4i'm in ur coffeez makin designz!
- orlyfactor, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3So is it Amazing or Awesome? Stick with one adjective please!
- quomen, on 10/12/2007, -8/+8If you have to ask people whether or not they get a joke, it usually is a lame joke.
Get it?
And seriously, you dont need to ask us if we get it, if we like it, we digg you up. In your case, we digg you down. - cfpresley, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2inaccurate, chocolate was used, and Foam is made with low fat milk usually. Cream wouldn't foam well.
- printster, on 02/19/2008, -0/+0Great designs but surely the coffee would be cold by the time they bring it out to you?! lol
- Nedlog23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I still don't see the point of this "art". To each their own I guess.
I won't tell you how you should pour your coffee and you don't ***** with my caffeinated soda, mkay? - EBFoxbat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3no.
- Klitzy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Total DUPE..........
.....dugg again - Nedlog23, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The point of this is what? So you have to wait an extra 2-3 minutes all for something that is a) useless and b) will be destroyed in one sip. And yeah, what somebody else said, why the hell would you ever want that much creme in anything? I'll pass.
- danobrien23, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2"but i will call it delicious"
so your idea of a delicious cup of coffee consists of 40% coffee and 60% cream? you're gross - droversoul, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4@ quomen
Don't be a *****. - slapded, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0they look cool but i wouldnt want someone breathing on my coffee for that long doing art stuff
- crime_think, on 10/12/2007, -12/+5Man, I sure liked that a latte!
...get it?
