- emceepecks, on 10/12/2007, -19/+52Check out the sluts from 50 years ago!
- thomasknowland, on 10/12/2007, -7/+30Hey...desc1 is right. I mean, look at the trees. They're not even the same size.
- neutrascrub, on 10/12/2007, -3/+25Boobs were different then
- thomasknowland, on 10/12/2007, -4/+23I forgot the sarcasm tags. And you didn't have to yell.
- Aeon53, on 10/12/2007, -8/+24Wow, I love things like this, dugg
- TheLlamaIs, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16"thats because its 50 years later, you expect after FIFTY YEARS the SAME TREE to be the SAME SIZE?"
Kinda outragious isn't it. Almost like expecting someone to understand how sarcasm works after 50 years of living... - bflfab, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13The page didn't say, but I think these are all from around North Carolina State University.
- Yashar, on 10/12/2007, -12/+23http://ace.methodcomputers.com.nyud.net:8090/ghost/
- markwalt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12There are surprisingly few trees 50 years ago.
- Aikinai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Oh wow, these are almost perfect for me. I just graduated from NC State last year and my father graduated from there in 64(?). A lot of times I'd walk around campus and wonder what it looked like when he was there doing the same things.
- ocellnuri, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10This certainly is NCSU. The 2006 photos are extremely recent, only a few weeks old, judging from the construction going on.
My favorite has to be #10, showing "The Egg" back in 1961. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Newsflash.. if an article requires you to click links to see the content.. mirrors are worthless.
- paulrenegar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5There are very few trees because for the first several decades of its existence, NC State was largely an agricultural university, with some engineering, so most of the land in the Raleigh area surrounding NC State was farmland. Now it's still one of the nation's best agricultural schools, but the farms have been pushed back further away from the main campus, and work was done to develop a normal college campus.
- Googled, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I've zipped the photos from the site if you can't get onto it
http://download.yousendit.com/11B5A03A1EA188FB
It's not the same without the javascript fading effect but still worth a look. - gumigecko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3These were very poorly done, especially the last one. The scale is completely wrong not to mention the angle! Only a couple worked, and those weren't even lined up very well.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5http://www.abandonedbutnotforgotten.com/
- shawnb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I wonder why he didn't say the pictures were from ncsu...and where is the egg located at on campus? I've never seen it. Any other diggers from State?
- covertbadger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Did they not have the number '4' 50 years ago? Learn something new every day, that's what I say.
- ICSU, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It reminds me of Fry visiting his old house.
- SniperSlap, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3First picture is the best. They get progressively less....Believable after that.
VERY COOL though. - TGMD, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Well... (some environmental nuts are going to digg me down for this but)
There are more trees NOW than there were 250 years ago...
It's true look it up... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I love how half of them turn into parking lots.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Never-mind
- CohibaVancouver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The City of Vancouver web csite has something similar:
http://www.city.vancouver.bc.ca/commsvcs/fade/fadepanorama7.htm - Sp4nk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Likewise, how do you know there isn't a building or a big ***** tree at the location where the original photo was taken? Think, McFly, think.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Interesting. 10 and 11 are heavily out of whack, though. In 10 the statue still seems to be standing in the same position compared to the house, but the photo is taken from a completely different angle.
- zcat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Turn off script blocking if you have it, and yashar's link from one of the very early comments seems to be working for me. I haven't tried dugmirror at all.
I'm tempted to find a few old photos of Hamilton and see if I can do something similar!! - DigitalPimptres, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Keep doing this. These are gorgeous! All I ask is that you put a "Next" button at the bottom.
I hate using the back button to navigate. :) - froheke, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3do you have javascript enabled?
- Clp727, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like that website too. If you like abandoned locations, check out http://www.opacity.us/locations/
That guy is an awsome photographer. He even has wallpapers of some of his work. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I closed Opera and opened up IE for this one and it worked.
- harmo777, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2do ya notice that the after ones seem to have alot more trees and stuff like that?
not saying thats a bad thing, on the contrary, it shows improvement (in those particualar places of course) - ngmcs8203, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1One image loads, then the second does. Then the slider will turn blue.
- benguild, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3That site is being real screwed up for me, loads up random pictures but doesn't show the older ones, and I think the style sheets aren't loading because it said 'drag the blue slider' on the ratings section, but its all just standard HTML...
- bigshake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you like this kind of thing, you might want to check out "Third View" showing re-photography of the American West, put together by Mark Klett, a famous re-photographer. You can find it at:
thirdview.org. - Klitzy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Looks like its suffering the digg effect as of now...And no point of a mirror. Ill be checking back later.
- FastZ, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I cant even see anything past picture three. Everything else just brings up a Cannot connect to server error page.
Thats pretty cool though. Makes you realize how much things have changed since back in the day. - banter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1That's the second hottest 4H rally I have ever seen.
- badken, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Interesting idea, lousy execution. Only a couple of the shots visibly match the historic photos. The sculpture one is obviously taken from the wrong angle. Sloppy.
- OhROFL, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Be sure to check out pictures 4, 6, and 7. Oh wait...
- Quest-Master, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Hmm, the site seems to be up now but that blue slider isn't working here. I'm using Opera with JS enabled, btw.
- mozzep, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2the coral cache works fine.
well, intermittently. - johntkucz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1pretty cool. some of the revisualizations were just ridiculously bland, though. Very much a youtube project, but cool idea.
- westcoast604, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Hey genius, the sculpture was moved. Take a closer look....This guy seems to have worked pretty hard to match these up - impressive.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Dugg for s2000 in 1after pic
- d00by, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2http://www.duggmirror.com
- QurrUm, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1The slider's not working for me... any tips?
- zadadka, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1These are really good.
I liked in No10 the fact that the original exhibit is still there, although not precisely.
Anyone know of more of this kind of stuff? - stgeorge38, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0This is brilliant
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0This lame ***** doesn't even work.
