- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+49Is the submitter really this ignorant? "Photo of what China claims to be the 'world's largest bus'" implies that the country itself (ie, the Government) is making this claim. Of course, it's actually the manufacturer, not "China" that is doing it.
- ssjaken, on 10/12/2007, -7/+32seats 300 eh? i guess youll only need one of these in SPARTAAAA!!!
- steviebaby, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29Slow news day?

Sorry, you set yourself up for that one! - Import98, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19I would love to see someone parallel park that bad boy.
- hiPpymIck, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17continuing in the spirit of mutual international respect and maturity...
London has the worlds first hybrid double-decker bus
(na na nana na)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/6458601.stm - ropers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13I want the Chinese bus -- but as a double-decker version. :D
(Technically, it would be possible -- prolly even road legal.) - sergeantmudd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15My grandfather was mechanic for a transit agency. The drivers weren't even allowed to backup the buses. If they ever got in a situation where they had to backup, they had to turn off the bus and wait for a mechanic come and back it up for them.
- SlowOnTheUptake, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13300 passengers but only 40 seats? Is that the normal ratio for a bus? That would only work out to about 6 or 7 seats per side for each of the three sections.
- Dracomantis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Cool... now they can all go to work farming gold in WoW a little faster :P
- steviebaby, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12It's not the size that matters. It's where you park it.
- Vinthian, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15why do i have a feeling that it's just 3 buses that are attached to each other? >_>
gonna be hard to make turns :( - thedobber, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11
We were so much further ahead in '76
http://imdb.com/title/tt0074205/ - DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6"why do i have a feeling that it's just 3 buses that are attached to each other?"
Only the front section has an engine. Also, the axle locations are different on each section. The front section has either roof mounted A/C or higher headroom. The other sections don't have this. So basically I am saying no, they didn't just chain 3 whole buses together to make this. - ropers, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6And if you believe these pills will do anything for your length, I've got a Nigerian father-in law who would like to talk to you. When are you available? How's 4:19 for you?
- korneelwever, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Actually, I'm surprised by the claim. In Holland we have them driving around for some years now. Don't know the exact specifics (max passengers etc.), but some pictures are here and it looks awful similar:

- ybisme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"World's longest road trains
In 1999 the town of Merredin, Western Australia made it into the Guinness Book of Records, when Marleys Transport made a successful attempt on the record for the world's longest road train. The record was created when 45 trailers, driven by Greg Marley, weighing 603 metric tons and measuring 610 metres were pulled by a Kenworth truck for 8 km.
In 2003, the record was surpassed near Mungindi, New South Wales, by a road train consisting of 87 trailers and a single prime mover (measuring 1235 metres in length).
The next record was 1,442 metres, set by a driver in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia in a Kenworth owned by Doug Gould.
In 2006, a truck with 104 semi-trailers (at a length of 1,474.3 metres) claimed a new record at Clifton, Queensland."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_train - Poosha, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Volvo makes busses like that one, the longest version is 26.8 m, I think that's the one they have in Brazil. Here's the best pic I could find (not very good) http://www.hallekis.com/arkiv/xx041021c.htm
- zappo1776, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They're going to need bigger buses than that to move a billion people around. Anyone remember this nuclear powered bus from the movie.

That made my day. - Poovey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I feel a 70's movie remake coming on!!!! The Big Bus. Someone call Stockard Channing.
- fodder650, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2And hear I thought I might be first with a Big Bus reference.
New York to Denver non-stop!! - Metlprocker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Good luck parallel parking that thing
- profweekday, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That has got to be a bugger to drive.

- rchmura, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Here's some info on the Brazilian bus: http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ônibus_biarticulado
(looks like it carries 270 passengers, and is 27 meters long).
I really think that the Australian comment on that site was referencing transport trucks instead of buses. (but I could be wrong) Anyone from Australia have more info? - kd1s, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Actually it is built by a German company, Neoman.
http://www.neoplan.de/datapool/mediapool/600/051020_CoachoftheYear_gb.pdf?lang=en
Neoman is the conglomerate formed by Neoplan and Man Bus. - unruled, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The netherlands has had vanHool busses that are 25.4m long for almost 4 years now....
GTFO china. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Correction, "longest" bus, not the largest, for the "largest" claim, I'd expect something really huge, that is multi-storey and makes everything around look small.
- Jezper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1We've had those kind of busses in Gothenburg, Sweden for almost a year...
- Zaarin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes. Road trains are multi trailer, semi trailers. They are not a bus, thought their length is probably comparable (possibly longer) than that bus.
- chillbox, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4The world's biggest buses and things to overcompensate for the world's smallest penises.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2That's a huge bitch!
- diggdong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No hot tub, no digg.
- snotrokit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1who cares, I like riding the short bus.
- topace3000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, that would work well on normal roads.
Also, such a technological innovation!
Sarcasm aside, this is pretty damn lame. - Zaarin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well then. I was way off with their possible length. Though, I personally have only seen a couple that are more than 3 trailers long. Obviously they can only go on particular routes: http://transport.qld.gov.au/Home/Industry/Freight_and_heavy_vehicles/Heavy_vehicles/Multi_combination_vehicles/
- Toast1185, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3China now controls the ridiculously large bus market??? We're doomed :'(
- ross., on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is it just me, or do the head lamps of that bus resemble human eyes....
- Cybie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Of course African buses are longer and wider.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3300 normal passengers I'm guessing. So that would be like a thousand Chinese citizens. Not bad.
