- CannedMango, on 10/11/2007, -0/+50they need to add a catwalk for light saber battles about 110 meters up
- GawtMilk, on 10/11/2007, -2/+40This pic is awful. I've been here before, nice place, but the photo doesn't portray it well at all. Here's a different one from the same Wikipedia page.

- JD52, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9I'm sure the window washers are pleased with this.
- charlah, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10The Burj Al Arab in Dubai has an even taller atrium...pic: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Burj_inside.jpg
- hustl3, on 10/11/2007, -3/+11I wonder how they change the bulbs... so many of them.
- xmkatx, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9I agree it's a poor quality picture, but it does give a better idea of perspective.
- scrimaxinc, on 10/11/2007, -5/+12@Geekchich
The one you chose is blurry and awful, GawtMilk's is exponentially better. Not really a matter of opinion. - anitab83, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Aren't there other lobbies that are the same, or higher? If I remember right, you can look straight up from the lobby of the NY Marriott Marquis on Times Square to the top, which is approximately 45 stories (or ~140 meters). A much cooler view as well.
- alexmuller, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7I think this is where Paul Merton stayed in for his television series on China - the final one aired a few nights ago on channel 5 in the UK
This is a fantastic clip (I know it's not that related, but so funny) - http://youtube.com/watch?v=wKiNkNapBds - GirthAgain, on 10/11/2007, -8/+13*loudly hocking loogie*
- informality, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5it reminds me just a little bit of the galactic senate
- dralter, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Reminds me of the scene from Empire Strikes Back, where Darth and Luke are fighting in Cloud City.
- 0004, on 07/04/2008, -0/+5I wonder why hasn't anyone done a bungee jump from a line stretched across the top, between balconies already. It looks like it could be a great place for one, in either this building or in the Burj al-Arab.
Jump from the top to the front help desk and ring the bell :D - ninj3, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Is it just me or does it look like there's a giant 60W light bulb at the tob? :P
- bassman730, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4It looks strangely like Splinter Cell:Double Agent
- funkydopeloven, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4@GawtMilk, your picture looks better but it looks maybe 40 feet high
- JohnnyXmas, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Darth Vader : NO, I AM YOUR FATHER, and there's NO way I'm letting you and Han get your own hotel room together!
Luke: Awwwww how come Leia gets HER own room? - tuned2chords, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3andreas gursky photographed his "Shanghai, 2000" in this building.
http://www.culturevulture.net/ArtAndArch/images/gurskyShanghai.jpg - themastersb, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3You could drop things on ppls heads and get away with it.
- greatkingrat85, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3If you view the full size image and use your mouse scroller to move up and down it looks like it's moving. Very hypnotic, works better if you make the window smaller.
- k3vin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3looks like something out of the Matrix or star wars movies
- migraineboy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4The Burj al-Arab in Dubai has a taller "atrium" at 180 meters tall, but I'm unsure whether this is technically the lobby of the hotel.

Wikipedia entry on the Burj al-Arab - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burj_al-Arab - HBNDonut, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Have you ever felt really, really small?
- cawpin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2@anitab83 - Yes, that's why the title says ONE OF THE TALLEST.
- cesclaveria, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3lame - ok, that is a matter of opinion.
inaccurate - What is inaccurate about the pic or description?
Spam - oh yeah, those damn wiki-spammers... - argblat, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Looks like http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/thumb/5/53/Galacticsenate.jpg/300px-Galacticsenate.jpg
- imacmike, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I walk into buildings like that and become instantly worried about falling up.
- ayeroxor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Geekchic: "One of the tallest hotel lobbys in the world"
"Drop the 'y', add -ies..."
Alternatively, use the built-*****-in spell checker. - Armitage2k, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Seems like a LOT of wasted space to me... just to have a tall ceiling? Instead of say, filling the floors with rented/leased space and making a KILLING!!
- hbeierg, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I thought the same thing probly because i was just watching that about 20 min. ago
- Superthug, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You guys should check out the Atlanta Marriott. It has a pretty ***** big lobby as well.
http://www.bishoppeakgroup.net/Architecture%20Images/marquisstraightup%20640x480.jpg - bagofbeef, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1"whadda lobby..."
- stonedgeek, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1That's the first thing I thought when I saw the picture
- thcobbs, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3Am I the only one who thought that the "viewing stands" made a double helix?
- HappyScrappy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Interesting. I'm booked there next week. Thanks for the preview.
- wvannus, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3First to BASE jump it gets a brownie.
- ktorbeck, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Now that would be a fun basejump
- traceur, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1@seidoger: you mean the LoHoJo?
- gsiliceo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1one step closer to the death's star tunnel of dead for palpatine, you could throw the pope in there and ould be fun
- dygel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Having just played through Splinter Cell: Double Agent thoroughly, it's rather neat to see this, since this is the inspiration for the hotel the Shanghai mission takes place in. The building is never named in the game, but you could clearly see they're meant to be the same once you get to the atrium area that these are the same.
Ultimately, this isn't terribly surprising. The Splinter Cell games have always had a great deal of Chinese development muscle behind it. What better way to flex those muscles than putting one of Shanghai's more famous hotel lobbies into the game, eh? - kessel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1been there. i snapped this pic :
http://i19.tinypic.com/66tbc7n.jpg
its from the top observation deck looking down. - indorock, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1tall no doubt....but looking at the size of the couches and front desk down there, the surface area of the lobby looks positively tiny, especially for a Hyatt. Check Hyatt Regency SF's lobby for comparison http://www.brayerelectric.com/pics/pic002.jpg
- accn112, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I stayed there once... it's even more exciting looking out the window at the city.... and their cheese plates are deliciousssss
- Fikiman, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It looks better with the muppet dragon and the firework reflections...
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3Almost reminds me of the lobby from the USR Robotics building from I, Robot.
- dubled, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Pretty cool pic, but a waste of space in my opinion.
