- MalarkeyPN, on 06/02/2009, -11/+371Dear President Obama,
Please hire Curtis Melvin.
Sincerely,
MalarkeyPN - ThatEbayer, on 06/02/2009, -7/+337I would not want to be Melvin when North Korea sees this digg.
- WordsnCollision, on 06/02/2009, -27/+303"The vast complexes of Mr. Kim and other North Korean leaders are visible, with palatial homes, pools, even a water slide." So much for the communist ideal - it is and always was a farce.
- pktgumby, on 06/02/2009, -0/+243In unrelated news: A local PhD student went missing this morning...
- norman619, on 06/02/2009, -18/+223They are not communist. My god the ignorance here. They are a fascist socialist state. Communism is when the PEOPLE own the means of production. In NK the people don't own ***** and have zero say.
Communism is the ideal but it is not compatible with the reality of human nature. Each time communism is used it falls into socialism or fascism or both due to human ego and greed. No one really believes everyone is created equal. Some peopel will laways feel the derseve more for their labors than others. - FacePuncher, on 06/02/2009, -1/+171Google Maps: our new official military intelligence source...that also shows you how to get to Starbucks.
- Nimara, on 06/02/2009, -5/+149This kid is now in the witness protection program.
- bicyclethief, on 06/02/2009, -2/+102Dear Internet Peoples,
We do not actually receive letters written in comments.
Sincerely,
Rahm Emanuel. - hpfreak26, on 06/02/2009, -0/+100Would you give a child who's throwing a temper tantrum whatever they wanted, just so they don't throw a fit?
- VAXcat, on 06/02/2009, -2/+93 All animals are equal - only, some animals are more equal than others.
- Kenelm, on 06/02/2009, -1/+75Assuming you can access this website from North Korea.
- lapiak, on 06/02/2009, -2/+59bobartig: "Communism in the Marxian sense refers to a classless, stateless and oppression-free society where decisions on what to produce and what policies to pursue are made democratically, allowing every member of society to participate in the decision-making process in both the political and economic spheres of life." (Wikipedia)
North Korea is not a Communist state because a dictator controls and oppresses their citizens where policies and decisions are made solely by his party. - nicodemus26, on 06/02/2009, -0/+54At the end of his interview with Rachel Maddow he says he is planning on going back soon. IMHO he needs to think that one through a little more.
- inactive, on 06/02/2009, -1/+44Police believe a trail of wrecked cars and solved math problems may lead them to the abducted PhD student.
- norman619, on 06/02/2009, -8/+48pktgumby:
You need to do some studying up on what socialism, communism, and fascism are. - norman619, on 06/02/2009, -3/+43lapiak:
Finally someone who understands the difference. It seems like most diggers here think communism = opression which it does not. People, yes even the government, called the USSR communist when it clearly wasn't. Even their name told you what form of government they had. USSR = Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. SOCIALIST REPUBLIC. The government did a great job of building up communism to be this vile evil system of opression when they knew full well it was not. They even knew Russia wasn't really communist. And now they label NK as communist when in reality they are not.
Anyway, I digg you sir for your attempt to combat the ignorance in this thread with the facts. - StarDust13, on 06/02/2009, -6/+43GW should have hired this guy to find his WMD's :)
- datastorageguy, on 06/02/2009, -2/+35Please also remember this argument when you are referring to people calling themselves "Christians" when their acts and words have nothing at all to do with Christianity.
- norman619, on 06/02/2009, -3/+35Wrong. China isn't communist either. They haven't been communist for a VERY long time. They are a fascist socialist nation experimenting with capitalism.
- inactive, on 06/02/2009, -5/+31or more like should've hired him to show that there weren't any. could've saved us a couple trillion.
- gonzo1773, on 06/02/2009, -2/+24Dear President Obama,
I second that. Hire Curtis Melvin.
Cheers,
Gonzo1773 - skintigh, on 06/02/2009, -2/+24Not to mention 4,300+ soldiers.
- Alli3388, on 06/02/2009, -2/+23I think he's an adult... PhD - he's at least in his mid-20s, probably older.
- r00fus, on 06/02/2009, -2/+22and a few hundred thousand iraqi lives.
- directedition, on 06/02/2009, -0/+20actually, it is best to rattle their cage NOW while they still don't have a reliable ICBM built.
- ashgtx, on 06/02/2009, -0/+19North Korea doesn't know what the internet is:
http://www.korea-dpr.com/ - ElDiablo6870, on 06/02/2009, -1/+19Four legs good, two legs bad.
- Hetman, on 06/02/2009, -2/+20A war with korea would be devastating. Millions of south and north koreans would die. I think a better policy is just to wait for kim to die and hope his son is a better ruler than he is.
- cmburns69, on 06/02/2009, -1/+16Four legs good, two legs better.
Friggin' pigs! - AdmiralAcbar, on 06/02/2009, -1/+16Dugg for ostrich farm.
- nwscott7, on 06/02/2009, -0/+15thanks ashgtx, now i'm on the gov't watch list because i clicked that link.
- Lionhart, on 06/02/2009, -2/+16Communism can only exist in small autonomous communities. It is not feasible on a large scale.
- drewh1991, on 06/02/2009, -0/+14Dugg for Animal Farm!
- h-y-p-h-e-n, on 06/02/2009, -4/+16i love the smell of latte in the morning
- Dundaman, on 06/02/2009, -0/+10Maybe Kim should ask Google to blur out his palaces and water parks.
- joot2112, on 06/02/2009, -5/+15North Korea calls itself a "single party communist state", so don't criticize the people here for calling them communists. The whole point of the post you responded to was that it's absurd for N Korea to assert that they are communist.
- Wormwoods, on 06/02/2009, -0/+9Are you in N. Korea? That might be the problem.
- alpha88, on 06/02/2009, -3/+12They already KNEW there weren't any, it was/is a false war.
- Ymeg, on 06/02/2009, -0/+9Even if his son is a better leader, it's not like he will be able to change anything. There is enough corruption in the North Korean government that, even he his son wanted to free the country, his advisors would make certain that it would not happen.
- fuzzybeard, on 06/02/2009, -0/+9Only the elite can, and that's only by using a satellite link to a proxy server in Germany. Most citizens of the DPRK wouldn't know what a router was, even if it bit them on the ass.
- norman619, on 06/02/2009, -3/+12Oh shut the hell up please. NK isn't going to do anything like use a nuke on a nation because it would be suicide for them. Their country is pretty small. It would only take 1 or 2 nukes to wipe them out plus China would never allow them to do this. I also dount their military leaders would allow him to do such a thing. Just because the leader is out of touch with reality does not mean they all are. NK strikes me of having a severe case of napoleon complex.
- pktgumby, on 06/02/2009, -0/+8It's a shame money can't buy spies as well...
- pktgumby, on 06/02/2009, -2/+10First visit, eh?
- realmadrid2727, on 06/02/2009, -0/+8I keep checking back DPRK's news service portal (http://www.kcna.co.jp/index-e.htm) for a headline like "LIBELOUS AMERICAN DEFAMES GLORIOUS DPRK WITH LIES. GOOGLE TO BLAME."
- iticu, on 06/02/2009, -2/+10Hey Shih, here's WW2 for you.
- iSinned, on 06/02/2009, -4/+12Wow these comments are terrible.
- DMCer, on 06/02/2009, -1/+9Tons of high-res pics of the prison camp in the latter half of this document: http://www.hrnk.org/HiddenGulag.pdf
- LedZep91, on 06/02/2009, -1/+9R.I.P. Curtis Melvin
- somnus, on 06/02/2009, -0/+7Anyone spend any time reading the rest of his site or watching his documentary? Scary stuff. This guy is with the Korean Friendship Association, looking to ask the United States to leave so that North can "unite" with the South. They go on pre-planned tours and then pretend like they've seen the country and it's not that bad.
The lead guy with KFA is Spanish and is talking about the ills of society (drugs, prostitution) that don't exist in North Korea, nevermind that hundreds of thousands of people there eat grass to survive because the military takes all the aid food (google it, it's on BBC, CNN, ABC, etc). These people are amazingly ignorant and/or idealistic. That, or their message has been lost on me. All I'm hearing is how capitalism is wrong (no country is run on pure capitalism) and that North Korean philosophy has the answers (!).
***** scary. - jonmlm, on 06/02/2009, -3/+10this is juche. not communism.
