After a heated debate, she conceded that keeping them around might be tolerable if they were "perfected." Who died and made her F ührer? Here are our suggestions for a new and improved Adolf Coulter.

Everybody's acting like she's called for genocide, but think about it: don't Buddhists believe the world would be a better place if everybody were a Buddhist? There are certainly a lot of atheists who believe that the world would be better off if everybody were an atheist. If you didn't believe your beliefs are right, then they wouldn't be your beliefs. Few people believe, "Well, I'm right, but everybody else should continue being wrong." You can believe that people should change without believing they should be forced to.

        As for being "perfected", she pointed out that Christians and Jews share a belief in the Old Testament as divinely inspired, but Christians believe that messianic prophesies were fulfilled in Jesus. Jews obviously disagree. "Perfected" in the way she used it doesn't mean Christians are perfect.

I think people should follow whatever belief that works for them. This is not about judging what is right for the world. It is about finding the belief/lack of belief that works for the individual. And I have never heard a Buddhist say everyone should be Buddhist... they are usually far more tolerant and accepting of different faiths.
          Yes, you can be selfish and intolerant and believe that everyone should change and think just like you, or you can be tolerant and respectful of peoples differences and support a more varied and interesting world.

            As for the Buddhists: there have been Buddhist missionaries, so obviously they've tried to convert people. That doesn't mean that they were intolerant, but it does indicate that they've tried to persuade people to believe what they believe.

            From the post (all I have to go on), your belief is that religious beliefs don't matter much, so you're content to let people muddle on in their wrong-headedness because it makes the world a more interesting place, or different people need to believe different things or whatever. You're not alone in that. Plato suggested that different classes of people be brought up believing different things to better fulfill their, the classes' functions.

            Most people, though, think people should believe as they do. Some are intolerant and some aren't. Simply believing you're right is not intolerant.

          I've had Christians ask me what my religion is, and after telling them that I'm an atheist, they look a little bit scared.
          I'll give you a hint: It's not because they are bigots! It's because they can stick to their beliefs enough to actually tell someone else that they are wrong.
          You don't believe in something because you think its wrong. If you have even a semblance of a backbone you can tell people that they are wrong/right about something. That's all it boils down to. The way you say it, you imply that merely informing someone else of your beliefs is intolerant. If a Christian came knocking on my door and said "well, you are wrong about the afterlife", I'd call that a conversion attempt, wouldn't you? It doesn't mean that person is intolerant, though. I guess it might to you, since you seem to be hellbent on some half-moral ground where you can call people out for supposed "intolerance", then do the EXACT same thing that he was trying to do: Telling someone else that they are wrong.

There was absolutely nothing in the interview about the world being "better off without Jews" that's an outright lie. Christians believe that to be a Christian means you are right with God. In that sense, it would be a perfected state for anyone who would believe.
