- Brad324, on 10/10/2007, -3/+211Just wait until Bubba teaches the pastor how to be a good inmate
- HMTKSteve, on 10/10/2007, -2/+202So, how many lessons did it take and what did his wife have to say about this?
- CrimsonBlur, on 10/10/2007, -24/+202Well, that sounds like a perfectly rational explanation... religion kicks ass.
- Monolith4, on 10/10/2007, -15/+179ROFL, he gets to bang his 2 teenage daughters for 10 years and he only gets 4 years in prison? Nice...
- syroncoda, on 10/10/2007, -43/+182"his church and his wife remained supportive".
sick *****. every single dirty one of them. and who says religion is a good thing? - mishabear, on 10/10/2007, -5/+107For those who need an explanation: In the US, when one is "religious" it is implied that they believe themselves to be moral. They are seen as self-righteous because they believe their faith makes them moral. A pastor is supposed to be a beacon of morality thus the hypocracy of his actions is even more pronounced. To have the support of his church and wife makes them hypocritical and "sick" as well.
- zardoz73, on 10/10/2007, -12/+109A fundamentalist Christian sex scandal? I'm shocked, SHOCKED I tell you.
- kronix2, on 10/10/2007, -7/+85Why is Monolith4 being dugg down? This pastor is a paedophile who had sex with his own daughters, yet only serves a minimum of four years.
- richgustavson, on 10/10/2007, -7/+77Lock that ***** up.
- gregsmamma, on 10/10/2007, -15/+77this wouldn't have even made it on here if "Pastor" wasn't in the title.
- xoxuxox, on 10/10/2007, -15/+75Like an atheist hasn't used The Origin of Species to justify having sex with his teenage daughters. And that's why evolution is wrong. As is sarcasm.
- scojerroc, on 10/10/2007, -2/+58you can't bang a teenager for ten years.... think about it.
- AnteChronos, on 10/10/2007, -5/+56"what does this have to do with religion?"
How about this quote from the article: "The man told the court the sex was not about fulfilling his desires but about teaching his daughters how to behave for their husbands when they eventually married, as dictated in scripture."
The guy felt that his religion justified his actions. Possibly even *required* his actions. *That's* what it has to do with religion. - Lyanto, on 10/10/2007, -9/+56This guy did it in the name of religion. I can't say I've ever heard anyone do something bizzare in the name of athiesm.
- Zaetha, on 10/10/2007, -0/+46FTA "The 54-year-old man, who cannot be named,..."
Voldemort a pedophile? Well, he hangs out with those Hogwarts kids a lot... - pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -1/+46couldn't he have just gotten them some cooking lessons?
- Virak, on 10/10/2007, -0/+42Whoosh!
- euphemizeme, on 10/10/2007, -2/+43He got dugg down because people couldn't tell if, by "nice", he literally meant that it was worth it.
- piccols8, on 10/10/2007, -0/+36Ever heard of sarcasm? He even friggin' said it in his post!
- rdnkjdi, on 10/10/2007, -7/+42At the last "fundamental" church I went to...
A.) One of the preachers had raped his daughter, was a registered sex offender, and got caught working with all the bus kids several times.
B.) This preacher's son...another married fella who felt called to preach...ADMITTED to having affairs with two underage girls. One was 14.
C.) The pastor lied about his martial status for fifteen years.
D.) Most of the congregation shrugged it all off.
Much as this should shock and infuriate me, it doesn't do much to surprise me. I wonder if they were Independent Baptists? - euphemizeme, on 10/10/2007, -3/+37"...to teach them to be good wives"
What if it worked? - Frnnkdlxx, on 10/10/2007, -8/+40Nice save. And in Australia? It just might work...
- HastyBoom, on 10/10/2007, -4/+35HOLY *****! (pun intended)
- Boofster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+31The wife probably taught them how to be better wives to women.
- onewingedangel9, on 10/10/2007, -3/+33What, because Athiests have no morals and standards at all? Just because you don't believe in god or believe there is no god does not mean you are a terrible person!
- Fozefy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+30"Judge Lovell gave full credit for the man's guilty pleas, saying he was genuinely remorseful and had a good chance of rehabilitation as his wife and the church remained supportive."
Obviously his wife condoned this. - YoungMaster, on 10/10/2007, -6/+36Sentenced to 8 1/2 years with the eligibility for parole after four years. WTF? Give the ***** life.
- onewingedangel9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+29This would be an example of good humor.
- jedikv, on 10/10/2007, -11/+39"Yay for hasty generalization!"
Its digg remember - cquinnd, on 10/10/2007, -7/+351. It's the inherint hypocrisy of the situation. He claims to be teaching his daughters to be good wives, by a practice that would not be considered acting as a good husband.
2. It's considered abuse of a position of trust and responsibility.
3. It's an abuse of his role as a trusted religious leader. - smackhero, on 10/10/2007, -0/+27i wonder if the entire church knew about it too. if they actually followed the preachings of a guy who rapes his children, perhaps the entire town needs therapy, or at least there needs to be some kind of further investigation of the church community to make sure that there's no other ***** up ***** going on. after all, morality has proven to be culturally subjective and i'd highly question the moral culture of their church community since a child rapist was their moral/religious leader.
- cquinnd, on 10/10/2007, -4/+31You mean like the psychiatrist who took advantage of a woman with multiple personalities?
- reeder, on 10/10/2007, -4/+31People like that need it chopped off so they can't damage anyone else. You lost your penis rights pal.
- pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -2/+26me too.
- pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -2/+26me.
- DRINKxREDxBULL, on 10/10/2007, -9/+32I guess the next time we hear a story about a teacher who has an affair with a student, we can just assume Education is the problem.
- justinjstark, on 10/10/2007, -16/+39Pics or it didn't happen.
- NSMike, on 10/10/2007, -3/+25Religion is what religion is. A set of teachings, doctrines and rules, always subject to interpretation. It's what the people do that matters, not the religion. This man is twisted and deserves to be punished. If his interpretation of the rules was actually what he claims it to be, then he's sadly mistaken. Likely, it's a cover for his own perverse desires. The rest of the people "supporting" him probably knew about it and didn't have the courage to do otherwise, so they diluted themselves into believing his nonsense. Words in a book never MADE anyone do anything. Don't forget who bears the responsibility here.
- firewolf223, on 10/10/2007, -3/+23I think his family and church are supportive of the rehabilitation, not his actions
- ElBruelsio, on 10/10/2007, -8/+28This is the most awful and disgusting thing I have ever heard.
- subterfuge, on 10/10/2007, -0/+20according to athiesm, he should be locked up because incestuous pregnancies often result in genetic disorders, which hurts humanity in the long term
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20Hi. Welcome to the Internet. A lot more weird ***** awaits you. enjoy.
- rjejr, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20Did it really never occur to the guy that there may not be a lot of guys out there who want to marry women who have been having sex with their daddy for 10 years? I think that pretty much kills the whole "it was for their own good" argument right there.
- jedikv, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19not funny at all
- pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -3/+20depends, did the teacher do it in the name of education? do they claim that anyone who doesn't support their version of education is immoral and will go to hell?
- ween101, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16Lay off Lenny he has a thyroid problem
- onewingedangel9, on 10/10/2007, -3/+19It's the fact that he used religion to do it that is relevant to him being a Pastor, that's why it's included. Are you saying a father raping his 13 and 15 year old daughters consistently for 10 years is not one of the nastiest things you have ever heard of? That it doesn't deserve to be news? He should get WAY more than 4 years. And his wife/church should NOT be supportive of him.
- iamdan1, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16Ah good wives have sex in sheds and trucks. Just makes the story sounds even sicker.
- theNazz, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18He only had sex with them from the time they were 15 to the time they were almost 25. He was following the scripture damn it!
- shacknasty, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15Also, the fact that he used the word 'gets', like as blairgoss pointed out, has some certain connotations around it when used in that context.
