Yes...yes it is. - Bobski, on 10/12/2007, -14/+49@CGorman68
Pakistan is not a race.
I wish there was a bury category for stupidity. - xt0ph3r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+35@CallMeGoat:
You realize Bin Laden was born in 1957, right? - bjammin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+29"Pakistan was deeply involved in the training of fighters to fight the Soviets."
So was the USA! - CGorman68, on 10/12/2007, -38/+63What the hell does Pakistan have to do with The WTC towers?
I wish there was a bury category for racism. - VanillaBaron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22That is ridiculous.
* The picture is genuine, it is not inaccurate.
* The digg headline is 100% accurate.
* The submitter says "coincidence" which is exactly what this is.
SO WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU MARKING THIS AS INACCURATE FOR ? - TheNoot, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24@xt0ph3r:
So the guy was a late bloomer, cut him some slack will ya?! - neatorama, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21http://11sep.info/ has more info on this...
- mrlost117, on 10/12/2007, -5/+22***** DUH
- VolatileWhimsy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Honestly that is not that clever.. The towers were representative of New York and the international community and its an airline, what did you expect them to have?
- iCallShotgun, on 10/12/2007, -5/+20Wow, this is rather freaky.
- gtiness, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18There's no suggestion that PIA had anything to do with 9/11. It's merely pointing out the fact that Bin Laden (and many other similar people) were in area circa 1979...fighting the Soviets.
Perhaps the ad was a source of inspiration? You can completely discount the possibility. - jabbar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11@ CGorman68
the majority of pakistanis are indian, not arab. very few arabs are in pakistan. besides a VERY close connection to india, the only other region in pakistan that would have a different race of people is the northern frontier province, bordering afghanistan. afghanis and the pashto people are caucasian.
this is rediculous. this kind of thinking will do nothing to heal the divide between muslims and the people that dont trust them. i fail to understand how you can believe this had been in planning since 1979. this is a really badly constructed conspiracy theory. - rekrapt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I think it is an odd, but creepy, coincidence.
- Bobski, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12@ sinembarg0, CGorman68
You two are reading an awful lot into this. Maybe it is guilt from your own inherent racism. - gmemon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8oh come on guys... If I recall correctly Red Alert II had the pictures of burning twin towers on their game cover.. Microsoft Flight Simulator actually showed really building prior to 9/11...this is just a mere coincidence...
- jabbar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6seriously???
PIA = Pakistan International Airlines
if you were to see the HAL Apple ad again, would you say that apple needs to update their advertising, or would you be able to recognize that it is simply an old ad being shown again? i deserve three minutes of my life back for responding to this idiocy. - jables, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Yeah I'm from Pakistan and I'm already used to the whole racial crap at the airports and people always looking at me which I don't pay attention to anymore. But believe me having Husain as a last name does not help at customs. So seeing this and calling it "coincidence" does not phase me at all. It's a picture that reminds us of the tragic 9/11 but at the time it was just another ad for PIA.
- dandyhighwayman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7...and how about this coincidence?
http://www.marilyncarolyn.com/Page_2020.htm - sanman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6CGorman68 & sinembarg0,
Attitudes like yours are part of the problem. You sound like race-baiters yourselves.
Read this and understand the reality:
http://www.saag.org/%5Cpapers20%5Cpaper1950.html
Pakistan created the Taliban, and they fuelled AlQaeda. Stubbornly arguing otherwise won't change reality. - PuyoDead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's not the fact that it's a Pakistani poster, but that something like this exists in the first place. I would just as equally be calling this a coincidence if it were from Holland, or New Zealand, or even USA.
- craig870, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Because some believe that if they disagree with it then it must be inaccurate. Its a coincidence. Get over it.
- kevine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Pakistani people, like any where else, are mixed spectrum of friends to enemies of the US. There is a strong contingent there that is seriously anti-US. The government wants to be friendly to the US, but is limited in how far it can go to be our friend while still maintaining control of the country.
Because of this, many Taliban and Al Qaeda have fled Afghanistan and have found areas in Pakistan where they can avoid being killed or arrested. This likely includes Osama Bin Laden himself. - rsh28630, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3To correct a misconception, read "Charlie Wilson's War" by George Crile.
Pakistan had a significant support role in what evolved into the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. Ipso facto, Pakistan contributed to the rise of Osama Bin Laden, et al. That said, the CIA was an equal player in arming and training the Mujaheddin to thwart the Soviets. For another perspective on that conflict, examine "The Hidden War: A Russian Journalist's Account of the Soviet War in Afghanistan by Artyom Borovik.
The Pakistan "Secret Service" - an arm of the government then and now - has always maintained more than a close relationship with the Muslim powers in Afghanistan. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Osama still sucks his mothers teet from time to time.
- qaddafi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I'm pakistani, and I find this quite interesting. Comments above are saying that Pakistan had no 'major' role in 'terrorist' attacks on 9/11, but I think, from what I remember, one of the Pakistani generals funded the 'terrorists'.
- oyourmom, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Ok then i want you out because you seem to be a threat. I'm not being racist I'm saying I'm defending my country. In fact i want everyone who isn't 100% American out. Oh wait, none of us are because we all have alittle bit of another country in us. So this must mean we all must leave because we pose a threat to are self's. Am i correct?
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Regardless of the fact that Pakistan had nothing at all to do with 9/11, this is still a pretty creepy poster
- VolatileWhimsy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Alot of middle eastern countries sent their fighter pilots to train in America... And yes America did assist them several times. One of which was the bloody, and I mean bloody invasion Russia attempted on Afganstan.. That is the "money" and "weapons" that people generally bring up that America gave to them...
I will now apologize to all Afgan people for my government giving you a means to fight an invading country... And I now apologize that my country did not let you sponge off of them after you fought them back... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9While the image is somewhat chilling/disturbing, remember that the majority of the Terrorists were Saudi Arabian (with a dash of Lebanese, UAE'ian, and Egyptian thrown in the mix). Pakistan had nothing to do with it. Lest anyone get the wrong idea.....
- flibbertigibbet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'd be curious to know why you put the word terrorist between quotation marks?
- kolanos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Pakistan actually has a lot more to do with 9/11 than Afghanistan or the Taliban...they did harbor Osama bin Laden afterall...
Watch this documentary, be informed:
http://www.informationliberation.com/?id=15612 - jtsai256, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I don't see how this is all that freaky. Sure, it's unnerving to see the shadow of a plane in the now-destroyed world towers, but other than that, what the hell does PIA have to do with 9/11???
- mmortal03, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"Things aren't quite as cut and dry as you portray them."
FYI, the expression is "cut and dried", not "cut and dry". - shahruz84, on 12/17/2008, -2/+4c'mon, really, im paki, and im pretty sure this could have happened to anyone. the point of the ad was to say, hey, we offer flights to nyc, okay. plus, if osama had somehow planned that out, he was still under u.s. payroll, okay. wouldnt the u.s. have figured it out?
- revolution1x, on 10/12/2007, -10/+12Well, according to the new documentary "9/11: Press For Truth" (excellent stuff), it seems that the Pakistani ISI were indeed involved in the 9/11 attacks...
Highly recommended documentary, you can watch it for free on Google Video:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1016720641536424083 - shahruz84, on 12/17/2008, -0/+2Look, this was what was written underneath the ad in that newspaper.
its a translation from a french newspaper, found on http://11sep.info
VIA PIA
New York via Pakistan International. One of the companies offering scheduled flights to New York. Departure from Orly Sud, offering best flights to the cities in provinces. A new proof of PIA’s efficacy.
PIA is an international company expanding business successfully: 3 000 000 passengers this year, a departure every 6 minutes.
Success thoroughly built on customers’ satisfaction. For having an excellent flight to New York or 60 other metropolises in the world travel via PIA.
ok? its just an advertisement saying we fly to america. look all you, want, i don't think there is any code or secret in this - DigeratiPrime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Deus Ex did not feature the WTC in the NYC skyline but there was an official explanation from eiodos i believe as to why. Kinda adds to the games darkness now.
- sanman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1jtsai256: Their airline doesn't, but their govt does. See the Google video mentioned above. Specifically, shift to exactly 49 minutes into the video. Start watching, and pay very close attention.
- gmemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bobski....atleast make a point dude
- askBilal, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Pakistan was THE funder of the Taliban movement in Afghanistan. Pakistan also supressed a lot of the anti-Taliban movements in Afghanistan. Pakistan has a lot to do with this.
- sanman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's pretty odd that Osama Bin Laden was at a Pakistani military hospital receiving kidney dialysis on Sep10, 2001
Wasn't he already wanted for terrorism against the US by that time?
(African embassy bombings, USS Cole attack, Khobar Towers attack, etc)
Any comment from you on that? - tesler, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3The 9/11 was financed by a Pakistani ISI. KSM was their operator who wired the $100,000 to Mohd Atta in US. Look at any terror attack there is always a Pakistani involvement. It is usually the Pakistani muscle, and Saudi money. Pakistan is the one which created the Taliban state in Afghanistan, and now shelters UBL.
Pakistanis are Muslims, and Indian are mostly Hindus. It is true that most Pakistani at some point were Hindus, or Buddhist but now they identify with the Islam, and the global Islamic caliphate. They are also very tight with Saudis who funded their nuclear technology, while they provide security to their royal family. - Mesum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why isn't there a source like BBC or CNN where everyone can agree on the role "as a terror", Pakistan played?
79? So it was planned in 79 or maybe even earlier? - Bobski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh, I'm sorry. I left off the /tongue-in-cheek tag, my bad.
- silenceHR, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2since when is Pakistan in Middle East?
- volatileacid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1YES COINCIDENCE! Proof that the one huge part of the muslim world (Pakistan) at least saw the twin towers as a symbolism of New York, and possibly America!
- kaafiristani, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Pakistani the ground zero of world terrorism. The Pakistani intelligence agency i.e, ISI created, nurtured and protected the Taliban with the help of the USA to defeat the Soviets in Afghanistan. later the Taliban, sections of the Pakistani establishment with their dremas of establishing a world wide Islamic Caliphate turned against the USA.
- Tanbo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Agreed. We are foolishly allowing them the right to their sovereignty while OBL runs around freely in Pakistan, protected by the ISA.
- BadMonkey0001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You misspelled irony as coincidence. Ironic: yes.
