http://www.snopes.com/photos/arts/paintedcats.asp - reactivex, on 02/11/2008, -8/+108Don't digg this!!! It's just going to bring on a new era of lolcats.
- Ghozt64, on 02/11/2008, -4/+88It's "I can haz". What the hell is wrong with your lolcat?
- Akaji, on 02/11/2008, -6/+64But can you really trust Snopes? http://xkcd.com/250/
- inactive, on 02/11/2008, -18/+76Can I haz my roots touched up?
- spoogieking012, on 02/11/2008, -3/+44all the better reason to digg it.
- mille716, on 02/11/2008, -2/+28I'm disturbed by the fact my dad sent these to me in an email already. My dad should not be finding pictures faster than digg. Also, this means content from those dreaded "parent emails" (you know the ones) are somehow becoming the standard at digg. *shudders*
- QuickeningYak, on 02/11/2008, -1/+21THIS CRAP MAKES THE FRONT PAGE OF DIGG ???!?!?!?!?!!
- loudintl, on 02/11/2008, -3/+20Dugg. Can't wait.
- MasterPlayer, on 02/11/2008, -0/+17Don't blame him, he's foreign.
- fatlip, on 02/11/2008, -2/+17plaid cat is not amused!
- Akaji, on 02/11/2008, -1/+15Did you even read the XKCD comic? It was a joke...
- ThinkBox, on 02/11/2008, -0/+14Yeah, this has been proven fake... but you still got my Digg, its pretty funny, though its old.
Spot the cat that it looks like its owner could be Chuck Norris. - saltinekracka20, on 02/11/2008, -3/+16Yeah, all I was thinking about was "these totally look shopped".
And to Akaji's comment--give me a good reason Snopes would lie about painted cats, then we'll talk. - drafhk, on 02/11/2008, -1/+12We'll call them WTFcats this time around.
- matthewdestroys, on 02/11/2008, -0/+11Halloween cat iz not amuzed.
- CannibalTom, on 02/11/2008, -6/+16The black and white ones like the crescent moon and Halloween bones, the Sioux rainbow on the 7th down, and giraffe spots, are actually really nice. The purple, green, American flag, clown, butterfly and lipstick look stupid. The skull and bone is my fav.
- RSGFr4nk13, on 02/11/2008, -1/+9Is this fur-real?
- doctechnical, on 02/11/2008, -0/+8I would say it's pretty obvious this is fake given:
a) The cats would lick that stuff out of their hair toot sweet (and curl up and die if it were toxic at all) and
b) It's on a joke site. Under "Joke Box". Kinda a clue there, if you think about it. - Scaryclouds, on 02/11/2008, -1/+8Can I haz death?
- fatlip, on 02/11/2008, -0/+7...go on
- Abominous, on 02/11/2008, -0/+7I lol'd hard at the cat with the handlebar mustache painted on.
- daschupa, on 02/11/2008, -0/+7If so they'd all have one caption, "kill me"
- sarixe, on 02/11/2008, -5/+11look, nobody cares.
- MasterPlayer, on 02/11/2008, -2/+8My Caturday needs moar excitement though.
- sarixe, on 02/11/2008, -0/+6i think saltine was joking too
- skunkman62, on 02/11/2008, -0/+6everyday is caturday
- gaminggeek, on 02/11/2008, -1/+7they are all photoshopped
- birdly, on 02/11/2008, -0/+6I think they'd curl up and dye.
- mGARANDEUR1, on 02/11/2008, -1/+6Some of those pictures are so obviously photoshoped.
- macjaeh, on 02/11/2008, -0/+5Mister Fluffernutter wants a second coat!
- SeventhSon, on 02/11/2008, -1/+6It's a sad day when the people holding the painted cats are the freakiest looking ones.
- doctechnical, on 02/11/2008, -3/+8Dugg for Great Justice (for lolcats)!
- Abomonog, on 02/11/2008, -1/+6Try none of these are photoshopped. All these photo's come from a book called "The Ethics of cat painting".
I have the book. Every single cat was painted with either watercolor or vegetable based coloring.
Not only does it tell you how to paint cats, it also gives you contact information for the painters.
Cat painting has actually been around since about 2000 BC. It's just that it's a tad bit difficult to do so it's not like it's going to be everyday type thing popular. Did I mention the book also gives a history of cat painting? The paintings are real. - rentmitchum, on 02/11/2008, -1/+6I think his name is Argyle MacCrosseyed.
- NanoStuff, on 02/11/2008, -0/+4Cats > Ron Paul > iPod
- 4LeggedtriPod, on 02/11/2008, -2/+6Must've been before Dip-A-Pet shut down.
- wtfunkymonkey, on 02/11/2008, -0/+4Some of them actually look real, a few of them should have just been left out in order to make this more believable
- Matri, on 02/11/2008, -0/+4Uh, no, it's there.
- MaddieCakes, on 02/11/2008, -2/+6Digg has hit a new low... I can't believe this is on the front page. I toss this out of my Inbox at least twice a week.
- inactive, on 02/11/2008, -0/+4but I want to believe!!!!
- Subhazard, on 02/11/2008, -1/+5That's actually fake. My mom owns that book. It's just a joke.
- inactive, on 02/11/2008, -1/+5Damn hippies
- joshzam, on 02/11/2008, -0/+4They could have at least come up with a more believable intro. NONE of those owners look like they have an extra $60,000 just lying around. Except for maybe the guy with the purple heart. That dude made my day.
- leptons, on 02/11/2008, -0/+3*****. I hate lolcats.
- Hindu_Wardrobe, on 02/11/2008, -0/+3Yeah, the book these came from ("Why Paint Cats") is apparently satirical. Huh. I never noticed the satire in it.
- perfectprint, on 02/11/2008, -0/+3http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2313/1927841563_2e1 ...
- Scaryclouds, on 02/11/2008, -0/+3I feel so sorry for the American flag cat. Our flag looks great on a pole put terrible on anything living.
- sarixe, on 02/11/2008, -0/+3nonetheless awesome.
- minnymoo, on 02/11/2008, -1/+4angry kitty will stay angry.
