- radicaldementia, on 10/12/2007, -22/+709From the truth ministry website:
"A photo of our Greenville billboard has recently been doctored by someone and posted on a national website. It is now being distributed around the country. It now reads: "Are you Asian and don't want to be?" The words above the doctored billboard say that this is a parody. I understand the meaning behind the parody. It is to imply that homosexuals do not choose to be gay any more than do Asians choose to be Asian. To this point I would almost agree. No one chooses to have same-sex attractions. If you will look around our website you will see what I mean. Our ministry is not here to spew hate towards gays and lesbians...quite the opposite. If our ministry angers you, we understand. However, we do not consider you our enemy or adversary. We too were in your shoes. Most all of our staff, mostly all volunteer, were former homosexuals themselves. We overcame our past, through placing our trust and lives in Christ Jesus and following His plan for our lives. We pray that you will do the same one day. We pray for you on a regular basis. We hope that you will not allow this one issue in your life to define--Who You Are."
I'm pretty sure he missed the real meaning, it's not really that Asians don't choose to be Asian, it's that there's nothing wrong with being Asian in the first place. - bradallen18, on 10/11/2007, -14/+206well that's not offensive
- SocialPoison, on 10/11/2007, -33/+203"I'm pretty sure he missed the real meaning, it's not really that Asians don't choose to be Asian, it's that there's nothing wrong with being Asian in the first place."
...in your opinion. (chill on that digg down button a sec)
According to Christianity (and Judaism... and the Muslims...) homosexual acts are immoral. Emphasis on the "according to," there. By the moral standards set forth in those religions it's just like assault or "taking the Lord's name in vain" or stealing. It's on the list of "stuff you're not supposed to do."
Whether or not you agree with the religion is another matter entirely.
From a practitioner of any major religion's standpoint... being in a homosexual relationship is wrong.
So if someone wanted to alter that sign again to illustrate that point, you could say "are you a kleptomaniac and don't want to be?"
Now, you may turn to me and say "dude... stealing is obviously wrong." Yes... to you and me. That's an easy case... but there are people who have no problem with stealing at all and think it's acceptable. Being gay is in the same boat... it's just a lot more people feel that it's morally acceptable.
It's posing a moral question.
If you're a homosexual and think it's morally wrong, they're offering you their brand of help.
If you're homosexual and think that's fine then you should look at that sign and go "hmmm... nope. I'm cool."
And just to top that off... I think the response posted by their rep on the main website illustrated there position very well. "We'll help you if you want it, and we're not going to hate on you if you don't."
A lot of right wingers screw up the second part of that stance. - unicronband, on 10/11/2007, -5/+113It's called a honkeyplasty.

can't be too long of a quiz..."do you like to be around men?", "do you like to be in men?" - brstilson, on 10/11/2007, -6/+67While you're eliminating the gay gene from the population, would you mind activating my huge penis and telepathy genes? Thx
- ngmcs8203, on 10/11/2007, -6/+64Looks like the truthministry web site is feeling the wrath of Digg.
- internetslacker, on 10/11/2007, -6/+62Pardon me but "Eskimo" is a racist, stereotypical name for us people in Canada's wintry northlands. The proper term is "Inuit". Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go jam a spear into a baby seal's face for my family's dinner.

I think the point most of these people miss is that homosexuals don't feel that they are "wrong" or that its an "issue". They also can be gay without being defined first and foremost as gay.
Sadly, I don't think the voice of reason interests the "Truth Ministry". - colincornaby, on 10/11/2007, -16/+64""Now the LORD God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed." -Genesis, Chapter 2, Verse 8. "
Unless you are an asian reading the bible, then it would be pretty clear man originated in the U.S. - typicalusername, on 10/11/2007, -10/+55I'm white, and want an asian... What should I do?
- UglyShirts, on 10/11/2007, -20/+57Well, they make a good point. Being gay is like being left-handed, blue-eyed, or black. Not bad...Just different. And none of these things are anything you can change, nor should you want to. It's the intolerance of others that needs to change.
- Elranzer, on 10/11/2007, -5/+39True. Usually being British is correlated to being homosexual.
- tehpwnrate, on 10/11/2007, -6/+40@socialpoison
You said it perfectly. I was trying to get a similar point across.
People are allowed to have their own morals and ideas. Just because you, me, or 99% of homosexuals don't think homosexuality is wrong doesn't mean the ones who do are bad for trying to help others who do. - MikeonTV, on 10/11/2007, -8/+39I'm white and don't want to be Asian. What should I do?
- wubblie, on 10/11/2007, -6/+35Sorry, you are wrong. The genetic predisposition for homosexuality (at least male homosexuality) is carried by the offspring of both sexes. The current research indicates that sisters of gay men are more strongly attracted to men and have a higher sex drive than other women, and hence, historically, reproduced more with more men. This is why male homosexuality was not extinguished by natural selection, and why there will always be homosexual men- their sisters can pass on the genes as well.
There is also an interesting theory that having gay men in a society tend to increase the fitness of the society- it is good to have some men around who are not interested in chasing women around and trying to out-compete other males. The classic example would be Alan Turing, who who created modern computing, and is responsible for cracking the Nazi cyphers that allowed Germany to be defeated in WWII. If he had been instead interested in joining the army to prove his valor or some other such macho per suit, the Germans, may have won the war, and the British lineage would have been at a survival disadvantage. Because Turing was around, his countrymen survived and lived to pass on their genes, which presumably include the genes for homosexuality that went into creating Alan Turing. So if societies with gay men are at an advantage, we may see individual societies decrease in the percentage of homosexuals, but other societies that are fitter because of their presence will take their place and spread their genes. Therefore, we will not see homosexuality disappear. Societies that are diverse survive, which is why we should not try to "change gay people" even if we could. - internetslacker, on 10/11/2007, -5/+32Asian can be a sexual orientation if you really like those Japanese high school girls in those short, short skirts OH GOD WHAT AM I SAYING
- FRANKeB, on 10/11/2007, -5/+28What's wrong with being gaysian?
One of my family members belives that homosexuality can be cured by counselling. I asked two questions of him and still have not received a response.
1.) Did it work for you?
2.) Would you let your children marry one of these 'cured' people?
I will keep you updated but don't hold your breath. - dime, on 10/11/2007, -6/+29"Simply observing that people do indeed change their sexual preference should debunk the 'I can't change the way I was born' argument."
No one changes their sexual preference - they just temporarily alter their sexual behavior.
You can force yourself to use your left hand if you're a righty. But it won't feel natural.
Sometimes it feels like another person, but that's another story. - Elranzer, on 10/11/2007, -16/+34Homosexuals who have "changed their sexual orientation" have not changed. They've just been deluded/brainwashed into thinking they were.
- amoirae, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17Or do you like men in you?
We're not all tops, after all. - Lazerbeak, on 10/11/2007, -9/+25lets hope they find the stupid moron gene and save us from your idiotic posts
- snarfyboy, on 10/11/2007, -5/+19No, it doesn't debunk it, since sexual preference isn't an either/or situation. It's fluid and everyone falls on different parts of the spectrum. Bisexual people may change their sexual behaviour and think they have changed their orientation, whereas an exclusively gay person would have a lot harder time changing their behaviours and sticking to it.
- alex1432, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14It's not our fault their servers can't handle the truth.
- ceralor, on 10/11/2007, -4/+16Not only do I not choose to be gay, I like being gay. Oddly enough, while I see my straight friends having terrible relationships with girls, I've been steady through all the ups and downs with my boyfriend for over four years.
- tehpwnrate, on 10/11/2007, -40/+52@redfan
If a homosexual person doesn't consider it wrong, then they have no reason to go to Truth Ministry. Obviously there are some who do, however (whether or not that's possible, I have no idea; look at Greece, right?), this group isn't a gay-hating or adversarial organization. Sounds pretty reasonable to me. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11>> It's no surprise that every gay I've ever met has been an unhappy, miserable person.
Perhaps they are unhappy and miserable because they met you. - rlee0001, on 10/11/2007, -19/+30@tedhead2k
I think the point is that there is nothing wrong with being asian...just like there is nothing wrong with being a homosexual. Or to put it in second-grade terms for you:
Being Asian is to being great just the way you are as being a homosexual is to being great just the way you are.
Get it now? - rlee0001, on 10/11/2007, -6/+17Congrats guys, you just successfully collapsed the religion fanatical website at http://www.truthministry.com/ (under destruction)!
- Kamic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10problem is, no asian wants you
- CurtHowland, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10"Kleptomaniac" is a bad analogy. Someone who likes men imposes their will upon no one. I know lots of people who like men, not all of which are men.
I like women. I know lots of people who like women, and not all of which are women.
A kleptomaniac creates a _victim_. A rapist creates a _victim_. Neither of which has anything to do with liking men or women better.
I am far, far more antagonistic toward evangelical Christians than towards homosexuals, because homosexuals don't try to _CONVERT_ me. - jgasm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Perhaps if these are the facts, you should cite your sources.

- CurtHowland, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8"and most importantly you don't Loooooooooooooove mayonnaise on everything."
You have obviously never been to Japan. Mayonnaise _everywhere_. Maybe it was just a Tokyo thing, I don't know.
I laughed when watching _The Whole Nine Yards_, thinking that the Japanese and Canadians have more in common than I thought. - jgasm, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9"You are also going to face the risk of STD's among other things."
i didn't realize STD's were exclusive to the gay community. - treed, on 10/11/2007, -4/+12Um. The reproductive organs of gay people still work. I knew a gay man once who had three kids. He married a Lesbian and they had the children together. They obviously preferred their own sex, but they wanted children. It was a workable solution. You can't tell me that all marriages everywhere are composed of people who find their partner attractive.
- BritishGolgo13, on 10/11/2007, -5/+12Say say say! Hard Gay hooooooooo!
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -0/+7Servers have a liberal bias.
- galore, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8"as a result of the sexual promiscuity often associated with this disease."
Then why do you, holy compassionate digger, if I may make this assumption, freak out over gay marriage? Wouldn't promoting marriage for gay people help them overcome the promiscuity and also, wouldn't acceptance lead to fewer mental illnesses, like depression because of the constant attack from holy and compassionate people?
From your post, it sounds as if people like you are causing a lot of problems that gays have. Like depression, mental illnesses and by not allowing marriage you are promoting promiscuity.
From a purely rational perspective, you compassionate folks haven't been able to eradicate the "evil" of homosexuality in the past several millennia. It still exists - and a lot of gay people are happy safe for the fact that there are ultranosy peers who can't help from being hateful. Your wish to cure this non-disease is arrogant *****. If you truly want to help those "lost souls", stop enacting laws discriminating against them and let them participate in the pursuit of liberty and happiness. - jgasm, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10i wish i were born asian.
i'd have great skin tone, perfect hair and an incredible fashion sense
what's this got to do with homosexuality? ;) - bburke71, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9Yeah, that is awesome. Let's medicate our way to being little boxes that all look and sound the same. Not for me, I will wear my rainbow super hero cape :)

- Bamborzled, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7...
The whole point of this article is that there's nothing wrong with being gay, just as there's nothing wrong with being Asian or Black, blonde or brunette, blind or deaf.
By the way, I think my employers will like me more if I turn white. Anybody got a number to this "truth ministry"? - popngen, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10"We overcame our past, through placing our trust and lives in Christ Jesus and following His plan for our lives."
Regardless of what they say their intentions are, this line directly implies that homosexuality is something that needs to be overcome. They are doing exactly what they don't want to do: perpetuate hate and to enforce unconditional sexual orientation that their Babble tells them is wrong.
Don't believe a word they say or write. -
