- laserick, on 10/12/2007, -3/+68This person is going to be pissed when they realize that they can find out the time by looking at their cell phone.
- griz, on 10/12/2007, -6/+65Maybe they should try piercing a brain to their skull.
- dbalaski, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28OUCH OUCH OUCH--- this is worse than eye-glasses nose piercing http://www.engadget.com/2004/12/15/nose-piercing-mounted-eyeglasses/
Lets hope they don't get their watch caught on something -- i see a trip to the hospital coming from that. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24First wristwatches, then motocycle helmets.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22I wonder how easily you can pull it off their arm. He better hope he never gets mugged.
- Axim, on 10/12/2007, -8/+24no insecure is having to go 'LOOK AT ALL THESE PIERCINGS I AM DIFFERENT I AM DIFFERENT'
- kenthorvath, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Admit it, you've been waiting for an excuse to use that comparison... ;-)
- swordedge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Ya know, they made watches for centuries before batteries. There are mechanical designs that self wind when you move your arm. Also, they don't show it but the piercing may be like the hole in the ear meaning that the watch is removable
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+15And when the battery goes out?
- mbthompson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Has anyone been to Thunder Bay? There's nothing there, except a restaurant named Humpdy's.
- jawagas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I remeber when Watch Bands used to be cool.
- jbarket, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9While I have to agree that this is ridiculous... if not simply for the fact that it's going to either get ripped out or be rejected by his body... I find it hard to believe that in this day and age that people are willing to make a judgment call on someone just because they have tattoos or piercings.
- Tetranitrate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Why use such an ugly watch?
- Sun.Surfin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6You unscrew the balls holding the watch onto the arm (through the band slots), pull the watch off of the rod pierced into your skin, and replace the battery.
EDIT: Sword basically beat me to it, but it definitely looks like those balls are holding it onto a metal rod in the piercing. - InternetUser, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9http://duggmirror.com/offbeat_news/PICTURE_Wristwatch_Piercing/
- tcwood00, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9hmmm...wat happens when it runs out of batteries??
- hbweb500, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10That's attractive!
- Mystyrys, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Eeew. That looks like pain waiting to happen. I only have pierced ears and live in dread of catching them on clothes or having a baby yank them out while playing. But dang. Something that big pierced into your wrist is practically begging for it.
- xerox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6i also live in thunder bay, the funnier part being, this person is one of my co-workers haha
- dark_helmet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I don't wear watches because i often carry 2-4 other devices which can tell me the time.
- robert314, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I love the fact that this person not only pierced a watch into their skin, but a ***** watch at that!! It would've been better to get a Movado or a Rolex, but a Claire's watch?? Jeez, you must be an imbecil..
- torsades, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4my watch gets hung up on stuff regularly enough as is i think i'll pass on tearing out a chunk of flesh whenever that happens.
- Gawtie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I live in Thunder Bay as well, I actually like it here
- BasouKazuma, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Can't wait for that to get caught on something and take the skin with it.
http://duggmirror.com/offbeat_news/PICTURE_Wristwatch_Piercing/ - ScottMaximus1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Digital Watches?
What are you, 12? - UxPx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Dont ask, just bury him.
- nixonrichard, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I think I'm going to pierce a tie to my neck . . . and sunglasses lenses to my eyebrows.
How the hell is that piercing NOT going to get infected? - Axim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4you mean the hoito with its legendary finish pancakes
tbay is an amazing area of land, the CITY on the other hand... - burstaneurysm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's certainly unique... the biggest problem with surface piercings is their staggering rate of rejection (i.e. the body realizes it doesn't want that piece of metal there and will begin to push it to the surface, leaving nasty scars.) So yea, soon enough, that person is going to be left with two lines of scar tissue on their forearm. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
- gingerchris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I very much doubt that this piercing is meant to be permanent, more likely a temporary piercing done for pleasure and to show off the piercer's skill.
- Enjoikr3w, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I would hate to get that caught on something...
- jggr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3And I don't believe you. I'd think you'd go for the watch. Seriously, who eats their own *****?
- jakeblat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I hate it when people spam links, almost all of the stories you've dugg are for your own blog, and then you've dugg a few random stories to try and hide it.
Could you maybe explain what that site has to do with this article? - sKiLLa182, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Actually, Humpty's closed down.......twice.
Why, oh why, does my hometown have to make the front page of digg with something so stupid? - goduke06, on 10/12/2007, -6/+9Wow that is disgusting.
- jggr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I went to school in Thunder Bay. That place taught me to drink. I don't remember the name of the bar, but there was a country bar near the university that had $6 pitchers on Wednesday night... Gawd, what a fun time that was. Getting all smashed and picking up the easy country girls.
/Also, if you have a child that's around 10 years old, and the father was a one night stand.... It wasn't me!
//On topic: Those things look silly and I'd never get one. But the eyeglass one was neat. At least something a little more practical. - Broccoli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I wonder how may people just think that he broke his glasses and stuck them on his face without the arms.
- happycat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Come on, who wouldn't want to live in a city called "Thunder Bay"? It sounds so cool and mysterious, kinda like Black Harbor, Forbidden Point, Lightning Hill, or Crisis Inlet.
I've driven through Thunder Bay four times but haven't spent any time there so maybe the city doesn't have much but the country is simply gorgeous. One one side you have the crystal clear waters of the fresh water sea called Lake Superior and on the other you are surrounded by the ruggedness of ancient Precambrian mountain remnants. My god the scenery is simply breathtaking. When you have an outdoor paradise like that who cares about the city? Maybe you should get off the computer chair and get outside more, no? - ElHombreloco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3If you wear regular glasses and fall face first into the ground you will break your face and nose too.
The piercing will have little or no effect since the tip of you nose will hit the ground first. - kristablaken, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I love piercings, and new techniques and positions are usually fun, but that just looks insane! To rehash and build on a couple of previous comments, you can bet it's going to get caught on something, which will just hurt like hell! And I dread to think what it will feel and look like once those surface piercings, especially considering the size, finally get rejected by the body. Ouch!
And cJw314... Stupid comment. Just because you have such a fixed, closet, stereotypical, sheepish view on something, doesn't mean the person with any of those things is an idiot. There are many reasons why people get these things done, and it doesn't have to be anything to do with intelligence. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This type of piercing will be rejected. This isn't the first time anyone has pierced their wrist and they always reject. Typically it takes 6-12 months.
you are assuming that this depends on the type of steel used but there are many more factors to consider.
There is the additional weight/pull of the watch on the wrist. The fact that this is a haven for dirt/grime/bacteria is also another factor to consider.
You can also consider the dermis involved and how much "activity" takes place in the pierced area.
Any decent shop will tell you that this is guaranteed to reject.
Most importantly, it looks stupid. I'm sorry that her dad and brother and cousins all gang raped her when she was younger but getting piercings does not change that fact. - streamx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2People are stupid.
- nick0las, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i just want a prosthetic forehead to wear on my real head... or maybe just a rock to wind a piece of string around.
- flipjargendy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It doesn't even look that cool... it's kind of ugly. At least you'd know if you lost your watch.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Old bastard.
- marinist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Piercings are usually done with metals that don't cause a reaction inside the body. However, the same cannot be said for an average watch case, where any corrosion or metal traces will get enter the body through the piercing. And, wouldn't daily use make a fresh wound on the wearer's arm?
- Aniphx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just think that a better watch design could have been used. It just looks like its hovering there...perhaps she could've used something that was more fitting to the shape of her arm maybe? Still, I wouldn't fault her for trying something like this. At least this way if someone else was thinking of doing this, they would have an example to go from.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't wear a watch because it is rather cumbersome constantly catching on things. I use to wear very nice watches and after you have caught them on everything or ripped off the band and it falls to the ground they tend to lose value fast.
Maybe I am unique in the fact that I am usually fully aware of the time within 5 minutes or so without using a watch/clock/device. - SinnersterSaint, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2mutilate them_selves_
one word. - Crossmenjeff, on 10/12/2007, -7/+8Yet another thing to rip out of a human for being retarded.
