- calvmari, on 10/12/2007, -1/+149Maybe he's so happy because he got laid AND survived.
- addiggt, on 07/06/2009, -0/+138Sorry for not linking to the larger image, it's late and i'm tired : http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=278635073&context=photostream&size=o
- portis, on 10/12/2007, -4/+134FYI, that "bug" wasn't "happy". It was getting ready to ATTACK!

The bike wasn't photoshopped out, it was a completely different angle. - Pilot85, on 10/12/2007, -2/+74I ran into one of these when I was little, scared the crap outta me. I swear I hit it dead on with a rock half the size of my head, and it just stood back up and started hissing. Then some guy came by, picked it up, and tossed it in some bushes, made me feel like a bastard for trying to kill it. :(
They are impervious to rocks... - woojoo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+70It's a male. Just look REALLY closely.
- elcidcannon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+68Ta Da!
- kaijunexus, on 10/12/2007, -5/+67That dude just got laid
- openyoureyes17, on 10/12/2007, -9/+70omg next time put praying mantis in the description. I opened that thing and about had a heart attack, I have a phobia of them.
- jsdratm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+61Everyone uses bugs as a synonym for insects. Don't be so anal Mr. Entomologist
- hagbard72, on 10/12/2007, -2/+55I've seen happier.
- wafflez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+46lol but I've heard that about 5% of the males manage to escape alive.
- tgunner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+43To all those saying this is a male, you are wrong. Only female mantis' have wings. Also, the you can see the abdomen is very enlarged, this means she is carrying eggs.
- NeoCortex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+43I didn't realize that the Crane Kick was part of the Praying Mantis Style.
- DaveTheBrave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+42GOOOOOAAAAALLLLL!
- vapblack, on 10/12/2007, -5/+43since he's got his head attached, I'd say no
- Phyltre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+34Yes, the "man-dangle" in question is actually a bifurcated leg.
- jessestorm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+34This guy probably isn't happy at all! He's scared *****. Praying mantids stand tall with their arms and wings splayed out to seem larger and scare predators. Awesome shot. We don't have those where I live, but I'd love to see one.

From Wikipedia: Defense mechanisms
Praying mantids, when threatened, stand tall and spread their forelegs with their wings fanning out wide. The fanning of the wings is used to make the mantis seem larger and to scare the opponent. - MrSlumberjack, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20This photograph made my day.
- da_bradler, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17did a small caption appear that said "miss" come times it can look like a direct hit, but if it says "miss" it'll cause no damage
- alllie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16What he is most likely saying is "***** me, I'm beautiful!"
Or "Leave me alone or I'll hurt you!" - griffeycom, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13No longer a "Praying Mantis" now a "Praising Mantis"

- 5plic3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I think an apt caption would be "Mantis FTW!!"
- aroundtown, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11I expected a picture of a bug on a naked supermodel or something.
