- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -15/+95It's nice and all...
But I've seen it this way before. - oskite, on 10/12/2007, -6/+83I double-read the title in awe... alas, 'amazing' was nowhere to be seen! My astonishment was soon swept aside as I saw that little son of a bitch snuck cunningly into the description.
- Andrej73, on 10/12/2007, -16/+83Yes fantastic. The sunset and the yellow smog are truly amazing.
- numptydumpty, on 10/12/2007, -2/+62It's a nice shot, but an "AMAZING SHOT LIKE YOU'VE NEVER SEEN IT BEFORE" would probably have aliens landing in the middle of the bridge, or it would be raining popcorn, or the bridge had somehow inverted itself over night and was now upside down, or some grafitti artist had painted it bright green, or frikkin anything other than a photo of it at sun rise....
If trade descriptions acts applied to digg articles, this place'd be screwed :D - paulmdx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+50Nice work in linking to the image so the photographer doesn't get any credit.
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -14/+61It's so beautiful, you almost forget how many people have leapt from it to their doom.
- paulmdx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+35Found it:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/25679342@N00/317356059/ - slush1422, on 10/12/2007, -1/+36It is definitely a beautiful picture. However based on the title, I was expecting something more unique. Like a really strange angle or something. A beautiful picture, nonetheless.
- ringo380, on 10/12/2007, -2/+35It looks to me like the bridge is, for the most part, an afterthought compared to the ridiculously gorgeous sky.
- CraigB12, on 10/12/2007, -19/+46Marked as inaccurate, I've seen this before.
- chocobomog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20Makes me wish I would get out of my cubicle and look outside a little more often, being in San Francisco and all...
Also, this looks like it is at sunrise, since it is looking southeast. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21I've seen better pictures. The sky takes up way to much of the overall picture, and the bridge isn't that interesting to look at. I agree with slush, I was expecting a more interesting angle.
- alej744, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17It's red.
- davoudk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17nice photo but that's actually sunrise, the photo is taken from the marin headlands looking east and sunset is in the other direction.
- KathleenA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Yikes! It's weird to take a picture and to find it being brutally commented on somewhere it wasn't posted to begin with! I never have said it was a fantastic photo, or that no one has ever seen the bridge this way. It's just a sunrise picture I shot with a point and shoot camera a few weeks ago. A SUNRISE... I think I took a better picture of the bridge...still nothing so fantastic or never seen before...

Resample that image as necessary... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11The bridge looks the same to me...
- dvflameartist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8shameless plug: http://flickr.com/photos/d-v/sets/72157594249770775/ for more nice-looking Golden Gate shots.
- thanakar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Pretty picture, yes, front page material, no.
- ionbattle, on 10/12/2007, -8/+15note to downdiggers:
This is sarcasm, and it's funny. - xeaxes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Oh no, the Twighlight Realm is consuming us! Everyone run!
- sgtawol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6This makes the front page? Wow, slow day.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Holy crap, it's black! Unlike how I've ever seen it before!!!!
- Dgen_X, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6it's the "reality tv" syndrome......everything is amazing
- ldavid, on 10/12/2007, -11/+16Fantastic shot. Hopefully this is fit as my background nicely..
- KevinWhite, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I agree, anyone have the link to the flickr page so we can give the photographer the credit?
Edit: Thanks paulmdx! - trer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You know I grew up in the Bay Area and never walked across the Golden Gate Bridge (nor visited many Bay Area landmarks.)
I guess when you grow up in a place, you don't really make an effort to see the tourist stuff. - Thezeppelin62, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Actually, I have seen it like that before.
- warlord, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Why is this such a popular digg? you can see loads of pictures like this of the bridge just by using google image search. Its a nice pic but just not work a digg
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Or more likely an incorrect description...
- TriZz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I live 20 minutes outside of DC and have never been up the Monument. I see it from the Beltway all the time, pass it when we go to clubs - but never been there. I agree. It's easy to take advantage of the great "sight seeing" opportunities when you know that they'll always be there.
- ImOscar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Fun game, but what does it have to do with the Golden Gate Bridge?
- ipodfreek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Why does EVERY Digg posting read something like "...as you've never seen it before", or "...you will never believe", or "..it will leave you breathless"
Good golly.... stop with the incredibly gay titles. - x3nos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I have no idea why you got dug down for pointing out a fact. I used to live in the Bay Area and yes, this is sunrise, not sunset as stated in the description.
- Maagic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Agreed. The sky alone would have been a much more amazing picture"
Nah a photo of just clouds is boring. It needs something to give a sense of scale to it. - coverlim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3now this is impressive: http://www.everystockphoto.com/photo.php?photo_id=81688
- Harmless, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Its alright. Not something that should be on the front page of Digg, imo.
- JuyLe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Same here, I grew up in Paris, and I never visited all the monument and stuff tourists visits here, I just go sometimes to special museum stuff where there is nearly nobody, and have climb the Eiffel Tower one time, I guess people living in Paris since quite a time don't care at all about the monuments, it's just for the coolness to have that on our city.
- upsidedork, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3WOW GREAT STORY
- Mr.X, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The smog makes sunsets in California look quite beautiful.
- diggernick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2definitely sunrise.
- Maagic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"I didn't do this on purpose. My mate was searching for a new camera to buy, and he was showing me some picture-examples of what could do one of the cameras he chose, and that was one of the pictures."
It's not the camera, it's the photographer. If the person knows what they're doing, they can take that shot with any kind of camera. - RockBandit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Because some of us live there and know that this photo is taken from the Marin Headlands (which is north of the Golden Gate) and the picture is looking towards the southeast. Based on the lighting conditions of the sky, and how the sky on the left (east) side of the picture is brighter... we can say the sun is in that direction. Meaning it's rising.
Alternatively, you could always look at the properties for the photo here and see the time stamp... ;)
http://www.flickr.com/photo_exif.gne?id=317356059
(Though in this case, it looks like her camera's time stamp is set wrong, since this photo was taken much earlier than 8am). - KathleenA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2sheesh, hate to keep defending this shot that really was not a big deal to begin with...just keep a camera in my car and a storm was clearing. It's not photoshopped..and it's a sunrise...and those are clouds, not smog or fog.... and it was just before 7am or so.
- Asvetic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3How is this Offbeat News? And why are there so many Digg submissions of single images? This is so freaking annoying. I wish I could disable direct links to images under my profile.
- JustAQuark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I read fantastic, amazing, wonderful everywhere.
Emm .... this is a nice photo, but it does not worth being on Digg.
In just a few seconds anyone can find beautiful pictures of the bridge, as on this site : http://yotophoto.com/images/golden+gate/1?images/golden%20gate . - tmv32, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow nice shot!!
- phlavor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ahhhh.... Reminds me of a headline in The Onion about a year ago:
Photographer ***** Out Another Picture Of The Golden Gate Bridge - Protoss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Great, so we got to collect more Fused Shadows now? Damnit...
- rmmcclay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Meh.

What is Digg?
