- masgrada, on 10/12/2007, -5/+22In Sovie.... ah screw it.
- IvanB, on 10/12/2007, -7/+20Doesn't have a great range of colors? Are you blind or something? This picture is more about the reflection of all the beautiful elements, than the sunset itself. I could write a frikkin; poem about that picture!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17Great contrasting colors and a moody green on the horizon. Great image, thanks.
- iEnigma, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10That's beautiful! I live on the American side of the lake and the beaches have tires scattered about. I'm not joking.
- dreman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12This is the second front page story of a photograph of the Toronto Beach in the last week. It may be pure coincidence. However, there's always a chance that Digg users are disproportionately from Toronto, as I am. I see a relation here regarding the number of pirated material you'll find online that originates from Canada. A disproportionate amount of downloaded TV shows you'll ever find will have a little "CTV" or "Global" logo in the corner. Piracy is indeed running rampant in the country. Excellent.
So, in closing, Canadians are pirates, pirates are generally tech savvy and therefore Digg friendly, photos of a beach in said pirates backyard will more likely than not be Dugg up than, say, a beach in Detroit.
This photo made it to the front page because Canadians are pirates.
http://www.digg.com/offbeat_news/The_Moon_over_the_Beach_that_looks_Like_the_SUN_pic (first story dugg earlier in the week) - sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9It's apparently taken in the town of Mozilla.
- simplenation, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10direct link to high resolution wallpaper version:
http://wvs.topleftpixel.com/wallpapers/beaches_winter_sidewalk_reflection_wp.jpg - TonyBuzzan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Dugg only because its a non HDR image.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9finally.. an HDR done right.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Lake Ontario is actually on par with the other great lakes. It used to be filthy, and that stigma has stuck around... I'll admit it's not perfect though, and thats obvious when we have the "do not swim due to (whatever the hell is in the water, ecoli, etc.)" days in the summer.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4then clean them up. There's a thing called "community service". I'm not joking.
- IvanB, on 10/12/2007, -10/+14It's not lame. The reflection is really nice. You can see it was windy because of the little waves in the water and it perfectly reflects the colors of the sky (why is pretty impressive).
- CarolFil, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4but to some it's just "The Beach"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beaches#.22The_Beach.22_or_.22The_Beaches.22 - ldavid, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Totally agree. The photo is stunning.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's taken in Kew Beach, Toronto. Near Ashbridges bay, if im correct...
This is my favorite photoblog too. I check it every day :) - titsmagee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5no, hes not kidding there are a bunch of parks by lake ontario that picture could have been taken in port credit, oakville or burlington and each area has tons of parks by the lake
- zosobaggins, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"This photo made it to the front page because Canadians are pirates."
Funny you should mention. I was a Great Lakes Pirate for Halloween, what a time it was!
Arr. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I think I've found the place I'll propose at.
- purple, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4It's amazing how much better the reflection is from polluted water.

Sam's (the guy who does this photoblog) flickr page. He does incredible work. - househacker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I like this one too, perhaps better:
http://wvs.topleftpixel.com/05/02/13/ - Verdanic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've biked through that spot so many times.
I love finding photos of uncommon places (i.e. not the statue of liberty) that I've been to or commonly go to. - xtremesniper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I have no idea how someone got front page, by linking to someone else's old work... But congrats. I'm officially confused as to what digg users actually want to see nowadays. This place has changed far too much.
- wisie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think its more the fact that this guy puts out some great shots on a daily basis and we are just digging him for his hard work?
- supermanred, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just don't swim in there, you'll get the AIDS!
- stutterbug, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Lovely picture (used to live less than a kilometer from that exact spot), but am I the only one whose first thought was, "Oh, great! A huge slush puddle. How am I going to get around that?" I hate slush.
- ladylux37, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4That's a FANTASTIC picture! WOW!
- donald347, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Who knew something so toxic could be beautiful. lol
- shubjero, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2coverlim: if that was only a sunset....
- wing05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Any other Torontonian here who can identify the spot where the picture was taken?
It's been a year since I spent any time down there so my memory is a bit rusty.
I assumed it was at the bottom of the park by the lawn bowling green looking east towards RC Harris filtration plant. But I think I see the Leuty lifeguard station so it'd be more like the foot of Woodbine ave/swimming pool.
However, I don't remember there being park and green space there. - xxdesmus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I live on Lake Ontario...yeah, we get some incredible sunsets :)
- ahughes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2daily dose of imagery is my favourite toronto based website
- TacoTycoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've run down there a lot, and it's one of the nicest stretches of the Toronto Waterfront there is.
Oh, and 'the Beaches' refers to a specific area in the city, a couple of kilometers to the East of down town. - slack31337, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2ddoi is a great photo blog i visit everyday
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2wow Way too many Kanucks on digg. not surprised, a polluted lake is all they have going for them. Make it last ! LOL
- D3koy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2wow, the reflection of the tree is so clear...how did the water get that calm for that great of a reflection...even the fence posts come out clearly
- Kamakazi15, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I was looking through the many other pictures he has on their and all of them are equally as impressive. He has some great shots on there.
- Dayyve, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Gorgeous pic. That water looks absolutely amazing.
- coverlim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1sunsets are too naturally gorgeous to be interesting photos on their own, unless they are really out there, like this one: http://www.everystockphoto.com/photo.php?photo_id=410754
- zappo1776, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Quite lame. Why is this on the front page?
- ch4os1337, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1yes i agree ontario's sun sets look awesome but British Columbia looks better in comparison http://static.flickr.com/38/123540176_25a77e2e6f_m.jpg
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You mean a large % of the world's fresh water (you know, the stuff you drink..)? Sure, we have that. Thanks for playing.
- Rayza, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Approx. here:

Along that stretch of boardwalk between the pool and tennis courts. Couldn't pinpoint the exact place.. - CoRk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wow, I live like 10 mins from there. Nice pic. I'd sober up many a night walking along that boardwalk.
- nick34, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Where is that?
Looks like jack darling park... - roombaroid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0The beaches area offers some spectacular views if you visit early in the morning.
party it up all night in downtown T.O and then hit the beaches - IvanB, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3"the beaches, by the lake ontario. east of downtown toronto."
That's what it says on the page mate. Contact the photographer for more information I guess. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0To bad you can't swim in any of them !! Considering the e coli issues and pollutants back in 2001 13 out of like 15 beaches were shut down that summer due to E Coli
I mean jesus! might as well swim in a Farm pond in Zimbabwe :(
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escherichia_coli
