- Daedelus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+109I was wondering where I could go to get some Ball Stars.
Thanks Digg! - Phatfiddler, on 10/12/2007, -2/+77@Clide

http://humorsafari.com/704336/Chinese-Fake-Brands.html - Usodarake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24I used to have a fake Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shirt that said TUPTLES on it.
- jmpeagle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23seriously? Spelling out in English NKIE and then putting the NIKE swoosh under it is a coincidence?
- leejae, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22Haha you're both wrong. Gook came from the Korean war. When the Americans came to Korea all the Koreans were calling them "Me-gook" which means "American" in Korean. The soldiers thought they were calling themselves gooks and that got transfered to the Vietnam war because we all look the same! ^^
- HCviolence, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21I was wondering where I could get the latest copy of pantboy.
- Soccerman14, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18So my Z-Pod wasnt next gen?
- digger_twit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17I once bought a calculator from one of those chinese shops in SF, it was called: "sonie".
- puredeviation, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17My friend bought a watch and thought it was a Gucci, but it turned out that it said Cucci.

- jobenly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12My buddy Bob Sacamano knows a guy who gets him a whole box of each issue. I'm sure he could hook you up. He also has this amazing Chinese gum if you want some.
- krinthekuz, on 09/16/2008, -0/+12while you can get horrible low quality knock-offs, one of the tactics in making fakes is that brand X comes in and says they want 10,000 widgets at the chinese factory. the factory then makes 50,000, hands 10,000 over to brand X, re-brands the extra 40,000 and sells them independently at an astronomical profit. you're still getting exactly the same quality item, but the sale is unauthorized by the brand that designed the widget.
if you're in china town in NY, most of the items for sale are trashy, worthless, complete knock-offs, but there are some items which are re-brands sold at a fraction of the legitimate item's price. the key is being able to separate the garbage from the re-brands. - WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I'm on a computer from China right now...with WidowsPX
- jmpeagle, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15Chinese companies still have no branding power so they have to mooch off other brands due to their low quality.
- vanchuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I think Adidas must be the most ripped off brand in China. I have seen the following variations while there:
Addidas
Adidos
Abibos
Abidos
sabibA
Adidibos
etc... etc... etc...
And of course as in one of the photos in the linked article, lots of brands "with the X stripes" ... for x = { 2, 4, 5, 6 } - clay900, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10@ clide: the best part of that link is when you click on the "next page" link, pretty hot
- dandyhighwayman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Or my wife's favorite--her Kade Spate purse!

Great, a digg comment can now cause slow down . . . WTF get a real webserver. - sven007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I once saw what looked like a play station 2 (the slim one), but the top said "game station" in the big blue letters. I only noticed the second time i looked at it. it's amazing how you can find these knockoffs in big cities as well.
- apikoros, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5What on earth is "unreasonable" about the low price? When you get a good deal on some products at Wal-Mart, it's not "unreasonable"; it's merely cheap. The only thing that is "unreasonable" about these prices is that they compete strongly with international corporations, which price their products too highly for most consumers in countries like China.
Of course, there's the issue of intellectual property over the brands. When it comes to software or music, many if not most diggers support reform of copyright laws and question particular notions of intellectual property. Why adopt a different set of standards when it comes to Puma and Adidas's (established by rival siblings, and--incidentally--both one-time members of the Nazi party--check Wikipedia!) rights to some graphic? - bigfkncee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6sadly,you can find most of that stuff on canal street(chinatown) here in NYC
- Misos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I wonder if the Chinese would laugh when they saw all of t-shirts prepubescent kids buy with Chinese characters on them as we laugh at their nonsensical brand rip-offs?

Fake Products: Mutant Knock-offs - shreveyboy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7The last one had me confused a bit. It still says GUCCI doesn't it? If so, then it's just a bad quality knock-off, and there are thousands of those coming out of that region!
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Check out the cool new Chinese news site, Dgig.com
It was started by a guy named Keniv Rsoe.
And it has over a million mebmers. - newbietheatre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The company I work for recently bought our uniforms from a Chinese manufacturer. I had a look at the documents, one page listed the price of our jeans, with a comment down the bottom stating "if you require special Levis branding it will cost an extra X dollars".
- Speciou5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Chances are the real and fake are made by pretty much the same people anyways..
- yinako, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5hahah, this is nothing, in china there are real brands but fake, ie not licensed. and they are cheap, in reality you can't tell if its real or fake...haha thats why my country is so funny. i love it!! lol
- fkuall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I love the Google ad at the bottom

Hahaha, oh god, priceless. - LegendarySock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Verdict: Chinese people can't spell.
- vanchuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3My favourite Chinese DVD package was one where the reviews they had copied and pasted on the back was actually an IMDB 404 error page! Priceless. (They seem to often copy and paste reviews blindly from random sites when making the fake packages).
They also seem to sometimes use people who don't know the alphabet, and get them to type out the information from a real copy of one of the DVDs... so end up with a huge long paragraph where in every instance someone has typed 'p' instead of 'q', 'o' instead of 'a', 'L' instead of 'i', etc. Good fun. - sail191912, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3How about pirated Centrinos?
http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/notebooks/ontheradar/0,39050980,62008923,00.htm - HoosbinPharteen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Hey as long as it looks and functions the same, why not?
- Mtdewrulz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm going to look on Ebay for some of that stuff because I think it's awesome. Knockoffs that are a reasonable facsimile of the real brands are kind of cheesy, but outrageously horrible knockoffs (like adidas shoes with four stripes) are hilarious and I want them.
- insidesource, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I would totally buy these for the sole reason that are obviously fake to everyone. These are a million times better then fake goods masquerading to be real.
- coheedcollapse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I ordered a tiny speaker to put on my iPod just a month or so ago and the package I got actually confused my roommates (They thought it was a nano or something).
http://www.cityeyesphoto.com/blog/2007/03/26/chinese-trademark-laws-my-hero/ - harrier666, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Reminds me of my coworker who said, after returning from lunch, "Oh my GOD some girl just came up to me and asked me if MY purse was a fake Prada like hers... I can't believe that moron couldn't tell the difference between her fake purse and my $3000 Prada!". And I can't believe any girl would spend $3000 on a purse. Which one is the moron again? Fricking label whores.
- lanzemurdok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2in mexico there are tons of people that wear "ROSS" pants.
- ez12a, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i wouldnt mind a Folex, personally.
i've seen some fakes, they're pretty good looking. - WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Just get the Firefox extension called TADSEE....and you will always have several mirrors to choose from, by just right-clicking on the site link.
- caution, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've seen knock offs going for the Pac-Sun style of casual wear in SE Asia. Many of the messenger bags and hats had a swastika on them with like a tribal design highlight. I'm sure the knock off artist who was trying to copy Independant or some other brand just found the design online and ran with it. It was kind of disturbing seeing 13 year old wanna-be skater kids sportin' swastikas though.
- DelSolMan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2No they're not. The wallets and bags usually have a lifespan of 2 months. Until then, most people can't tell the difference!
- eatmorgnome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can't wait for the horror stories of the people who travel there for the Olympics
- Amoeba16, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I want my genuine Magnetbox and Sorny!
