- zizzybaloobah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+101This strangely appealing and frightening at the time.
- nymphetamine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+87That thing is scary not only because it's up so high, but because those little 'skycycles' don't look too new.
What's with the little pink basket anyway? Is that where my parachute goes? - doctechnical, on 10/12/2007, -4/+75This sort of ride has been around for ages, I beleive it was first engineered by one Mr. Flintstone.
- LordSkywalker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+68Yeah! Each person could have their own foot-powered-rolling-machine. Maybe they would call it a "bike".
- brewno2k, on 10/12/2007, -5/+62Great for Asian and European markets, they're used to walking and exercising.
- bobcrotch, on 10/12/2007, -5/+57This is in Japan not the mid west buddy
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+51"70mph Roller coasters relax you?"
In Soviet Russia, they do. - toomuchgreentea, on 10/12/2007, -1/+47I'm more concern about what will happen if someone's too tired to continue half way up the hill and start rolling backwards ... or better yet, formed a queue and stopped anyone from going forward ...
- gaiden2k5, on 10/12/2007, -2/+48riders should be required to say " Y A B A D A B A D O O ! ! ! " every time they head downward.
- Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4470mph Roller coasters relax you?
- EdgarVerona, on 10/12/2007, -0/+42THIS is the kind of creativity we need for the continued existence of theme parks! I would pay whatever price was required for the opportunity to knock someone off of a roller coaster and down a forested mountainside.
- jewdiknight, on 10/12/2007, -2/+43I bet the there arcade is filled with DDR and WIIs.
- LaueOfficer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+43So what happens when the person behind you pedals faster than the person in front and they go down the hill at the same time......
- redbullet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+39Absolutely stunning.. An attraction where you have to pay for sweating. Combine it and you got a fitness theme park.
- oceanmajk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+39How the hell do you get up the giant first hill?
- LordSkywalker, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26What happens when some out of shape fatass needs a 20 minutes break, 5 minutes into the ride?
- AnotherBrian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23Re: CelebVoy
That's a different coaster. The pedal powered one is flat. - Blakechi, on 10/12/2007, -10/+32I'll stick to the 70mph-relax-my-fat-ass variety. I go to an amusement park to have fun, not work out.
- pritch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20Peddle? You mean people sell things on the way round?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Just in case someone was confused into thinking otherwise--there's more than one coaster on that hill. The pedal-powered stuff is all level (still fun due to the altitude, though). The tracks that dip and rise and do roller-coastery things belong to a different, evidently more conventional roller coaster.
- cm1265, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15I see that the entire track is flat, therefore it isn't a "roller coaster". That seems to take the "coast" out of "coaster", don't you think?
- mcfarag, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Bullet trains, octo-core processors, and humanoid robots...and this is the next step?
- RooDoG, on 10/12/2007, -7/+19Not passing Safety Regulations in the US anytime soon, but I really want to ride it.
- brenta100, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Very cool. The rickety looking cars enhance the fear factor.
- rickyx2001, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13I don't think the pedal coaster track has hills...it looks like the tracks with the hills & spirals are from a separate coaster that's probably not pedal powered.
- ScottDaMan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13There's Japan McDonald's fatties too....
- fatadamblog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10That would be like this:
Peddle peddle *oh god I'm so out of shape peddle peddle
Weeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Peddle Peddle oh god why did I even get on this thing? - UO07, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Pft the whole ride actually looks lame..

The one with the drops and stuff is actually a different roller coaster. - okokitsme, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Actually, making a (safer!) elevated track for bikes in big cities would be a great idea. Cycling among cars or on ill-designed bikelanes is pretty risky at rush hours!
- Mearn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6You didn't hear? Gift shops at the exits of rides are so 1990s. The new thing is to have gift shops ON the rides!
- Freegoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Yabba dabba dooo!!!!
- scuzzman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6That's actually a very good idea...
- AgentMull, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Has no one here played roller coaster tycoon?
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6@cm1265
"I see that the entire track is flat, therefore it isn't a "roller coaster". That seems to take the "coast" out of "coaster", don't you think?"
Sounds like a glorified bike-rental scam.
You can only ride it on our lot. You pay us.
You peddle it.
Great for gullible people, desperate for meaning in their shallow lives, and with money to burn. - dickeytk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I imagine they might have some sort of brake mechanism where if the cart starts rolling the wrong way it pulls a pin that activates a brake, kinda like kids bikes when if you pedal backwards it brakes, except in this case it's if the "tire" spins the wrong way, not the pedals. As far as stop moving forward... idk they must just have to wait I guess
just a thought - fjuanl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5hmm that looks safe
- profOblivion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@waterdragon

- kenok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4What happens if two of you are 'ridin' the bike so fast? Bump crash the other guys into the forest below?
- moft, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4totally - check out the wear and tear on pic# 2 and the rust.
must be pretty old
I'd do it for my morning cycle - green1152, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Uhhh. Those chairs are looking pretty sketchy.. Really sketchy!
- drafhk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Two words: sumo wrestlers.
- Mearn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Most roller coasters with chain lifts have a rather simple anti-rollback mechanism. It's a lot like a ratchet. A single tooth on the bottom of the car locks into notches along the hill. This is the loud clicking sound you hear during chain lifts.
- GoodOlClint, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4jgzman, no. it's a simple track that isn't very big
see: http://www.goodolclint.com/coaster.jpg - cycledesign, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6They already have this at Legoland California. Don't ask me how I know.

- bigern75, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3There are no hills. Its a flat track. Look again, the other true roller coaster thats going up and down is also seen in the pics. The only track the peddlers go on is flat. I wondered the same thing, then read a little mare and studied the pics closer.
- seandfeeney, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3YES Now I can live my life long dream of being ET!!
- decay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3They have had these in India/Pakistan for awhile.
They are so rusty that I got stuck in the middle of one and felt like i was tipping over. My uncle had to push my cart from behind.
Scary as hell then but funny now. - NoNameHere, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Of course! This is just another step on the path of the bistromathic drive!
