- plnegative1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+34That's not religious thinking. Thats a tax evader using poor excuses...
- Loonacy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+28The best part in my opinion:
'Members of Creation Science Evangelism said at the time that building permits violated their "deeply held" religious beliefs.'
Having worked in construction before (I used to draw houseplans), I will indeed agree that building permits (more specifically, building codes) are the devil's work. - eclectro, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Only scientologists can take on the IRS and win.
- Jleagle, on 10/12/2007, -6/+25"I still don't understand what I'm being charged for and who is charging me,"
how dumb can you get? - dpk87, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19They count when they can vote.
- othersomethings, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19yikes. "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's." I think his manual is pretty clear about what his guidelines are supposed to be...
- tvc15, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18I believe the general mentality is to first believe something and then find something in the bible to support that belief. Or just make it up as needed.
- johndi, on 10/12/2007, -7/+19That kind of hyper-religious thinking isn't that rare in Pensacola. It is a scary place.
- Chuckinator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10You can go here: http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/hovind.html
to read all about his offer. Apparently, you have to prove that God doesn't exist to get the $250,000. Even as an atheist I admit that I there is no way that I could ever prove that God doesn't exist. - cathode, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10This is retarded... and I'm a Christian. He's a lawbreaker, plain and simple, and has delusions of who he's serving. Jesus said to obey the laws of the land and to pay your taxes, plain and simple. Be you Evolutionist or Creationist (or Janitor) you've gotta be loony to try to blame God for not wanting to pay taxes.
- Quiplash, on 10/12/2007, -7/+15"where dinosaurs and the Bible meet"
ROTFLMAO x 25 !
But what's truly scary is that this man actually has followers.... - pintong, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10"Pretty good debater?" He does bring up a number of good points, but continual use of ad-hominem doesn't make you a "good" debater.
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10i just watched a 2 hour debate from those search results (i think it was the first result).. he was WAAAY more prepared for the debate than his opponent.. i mean, even during the question and answer session at the end, he was pulling up slides for his already-prepared response to those questions. the guy is pretty ridiculous, though, and quite closed-minded... like evolution is a lie because a honda civic is 'designed' and didn't evolve from a skateboard... too bad the scientific community doesn't resort to such silly comparisons.. they'd have an even stronger debate
- Dimensio, on 10/12/2007, -11/+18It appears that Hovind's accounting practices are as honest as his claims regarding evolution.
- Anpheus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Only because their lawyers are better paid.
- pintong, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8"I think his manual is pretty clear about what his guidelines are supposed to be..."
Agreed. Despite his views, this wasn't very "Christian" of him. - dewdrinker19, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I bet you didn't read any of the article. It talks about the guys wife in the second paragraph.
On Topic: I happen to believe and agree with most of Kent Hovind's DVD Seminar Series. Everybody has their flaws, too bad this one is a huge and very stupid one. - titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -10/+16"he is employed by God" I bet Jesus fired him before God hired him.
- Dimensio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"That must mean a lot of people here believe in that utter rubbish called religion."
I made no statements about religion. Your reply is a non-sequitur. - picaro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Thoreau said it best:
Christ answered the Herodians according to their condition. 'Show me the tribute-money,' said he--and one took a penny out of his pocket--if you use money which has the image of Caesar on it, and
which he has made current and valuable, that is, if you are men of the State, and gladly enjoy the advantages of Caesar's government, then pay him back some of his own when he demands it. "Render therefore to Caesar that which is Caesar's and to God those things which are God's"--leaving them no wiser than before as to which was which; for they did not wish to know.
--Henry David Thoreau
_Resistance to Civil Government_ (1849) - scoot87, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6It looks like some of his material can be found on youtube...
http://www.youtube.com/results?search=kent+hovind&search_type=search_videos&search=Search - hawks5999, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8With Miles Davis as the Judge, you know the whole proceeding was coooool.
- flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9wow talk about someone who is ful of themselves, this guy sounds like a total D-bag and a complete sleeze. How greedy can you get.
- Freyr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7"the judge took away his passport and guns Hovind claimed belonged to his church."
I worry about a church that owns guns (plural). But maybe dinosaurs pose a big threat to the church and that is why they own them. - dacheetah, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7The Invisible Pink Unicorn can prove God doesn't exist, but chooses not to.
- Tiabin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4What qualifies as a non-dog? Does that cat that was recently born with two faces qualify as a non-cat? If extremely rare mutations is all that's neccessary, those happen frequently.
- FreakTrap, on 10/12/2007, -7/+10@titlesaysitall:
I don't get it... - everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7"Hovind, an avowed creationist, has widely publicized his "standing offer" to pay $250,000 to anyone who can provide scientific evidence of evolution.
"No one has ever observed a dog produce a non-dog," Hovind once wrote in reply to a New York Times article."
get me someone who can observe the hunderes of generations requiered for genetic mutation to take any significant hold on an animal. you can't? THAT'S WHY NO ONE SEE'S A DOG BIRTH A NON-DOG. we're talking about a change that happened to the human race within a matter of several millenia and he want's someone to have seen it all happen? might as well ask for someone to have perosnally seen god create the heavens and watch adam and eve get booted from the garden to be alive today. - wowbaggger, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7only idiots though, they don't count.
- shawgo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4The bible says you have to submit to the laws of the land. So with Dr. Dino here, it's sort of a do as I say, not as I do situation? :)
- Llan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Yeah you do that...you're our hero...
- Dimensio, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5" I happen to believe and agree with most of Kent Hovind's DVD Seminar Series."
My condolences. Many creationists have distanced themselves from Hovind's claims. He is a known fraud, charlitan and liar and his arguments against evolution are either based upon false statements, or a completely false representation of what evolution is. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Not to mention the fact that evolution takes place in response to the environment. Dogs are surviving just fine by producing other dogs, but if their surroundings dramatically changed (no more Snausages), then a mutation would occur so that a new generation could survive without their treats. The old style dogs would eventually die out due to Snausage depletion but the new ones would be just fine with Beggin' Strips.
- sullly, on 08/07/2009, -0/+1Right, maybe the dogs would grow wings or develop gills.
- infinity64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have a question: Is this stuff what you are saying or revering to based on facts? the most things(not every comment) i see in this list of comments is not serious meant to be normal but just to discredit someone. Most people in this blog are not discussing about his guilt or innocence and give facts about these things, but about the things he said in his seminars, and the things he published. I hoped a more serious discussion about the issue if he is guilty or not for the things he is charged for, and not just bashing someone without a normal reason and passing the real issue. Please focus on the real issue! :)
greetings
Johan - sullly, on 08/07/2009, -0/+1Intelligent group here! It's fun to pick on a convict to make yourselves feel "smarter."
- jabbar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i hate myself for knowing what ROTFLMAO means.
- darkroastbeans, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2All your dinos are belong to us.
- inactive, on 07/27/2008, -0/+0@ Cathode. "Obey the laws of the land and pay your taxes." This wouldn't be the case now here in America because we have something called the separation of Church and State.
- davidshq, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Sad. Though Hovind's failures don't undermine Intelligent Design proponents arguments.
- Yaku83, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Maybe he planned on his church fighting against the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
- lo0ol, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2"So What?"

He's just another snake oil salesman using people's ignorance to earn a living. - desune, on 10/12/2007, -8/+6Comedy gold :D
- stublag, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I can only laugh at this *****. He deserves to be punished in every way possible.
- valan, on 10/12/2007, -9/+6he is a pretty good debater. although a bit insane.
- wowbaggger, on 10/12/2007, -11/+5Wow. You got dug down. That must mean a lot of people here believe in that utter rubbish called religion.
Poor bastards. I wish I could say god gave you a brain, use it, but there is not god.
Q.E.D - bobbybobington, on 10/12/2007, -14/+7Creationsist Themepark?!?!?!
