- dannyapplesauce, on 10/10/2007, -3/+313Reminds me of the episode of futurama. Probably the saddest episode.
- Rosamilia, on 10/29/2007, -4/+195Better than the dog being in the middle of Tropical Storm Michael Vick
- CPops, on 10/10/2007, -1/+173If he was carrying his own leash in his mouth, that would be even sadder I think.
- nixonrichard, on 10/10/2007, -8/+101That's what you get for naming your dog "Erin." Everyone running around yelling "we got to get the ***** out of here! Erin is coming!" and the dog starts to feel like it isn't loved.
- aldenhg, on 10/10/2007, -0/+89I was walking on sunshine until I saw the end of that episode.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -19/+93The title goes too far...
Considering what's going on today in Iraq, Darfur, earthquake in Peru, etc. it's only "one of the saddest pictures you'll see" if all you watch is MTV. - aegis9975, on 10/10/2007, -0/+67Seymor, the dog in the Futurama, was based on a real-life dog and true story.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hachik%C5%8D
"During his owner's life, Hachikō saw him off from the front door and greeted him at the end of the day at the nearby Shibuya Station. Even after his owner's death, Hachikō returned every day to the station to wait for him, and did so for the next 11 years." - thenativeraver, on 10/10/2007, -0/+64http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akf-H0OVpLA
- MicroBerto, on 10/10/2007, -1/+56Personally, I love it. That dog is sitting there thinking "screw this, screw the world, and screw everyone else. If my day is gonna suck, so is everyone else's"
I'm with the dog on this one - digbird, on 10/10/2007, -11/+63I like the picture (I'm into photography), but calling it one of the saddest you'll ever see is a stretch (I'm not a dog person). Frankly, I think a picture like this is infinitely sadder:
http://media.npr.org/programs/newsnotes/features/2006/mar/carter/blurb200_lg.jpg
For those who don't recognize it, it was taken in Sudan in 1993, and according to a book about combat photographers, the man who took it was so haunted by it, he killed himself.
I feel sad for the dog, but please. - Rodman930, on 10/10/2007, -3/+50After the shot, the dog walked away and was fine.
The end. - JCSaint, on 10/10/2007, -3/+47At least it wasn't BREAKING: MOST AMAZINGLY SAD PICTURE YOU'LL SEE!!!11!
- djrisc, on 10/10/2007, -3/+46this just goes to show how desensitized we have become to human violence, when a picture like this rips at my heart, and a picture of a person in distress is just brushed off.. poor doggy.
- MrStabby, on 10/10/2007, -1/+44"YOU WANT THIS DOG?!"
- Soulprint, on 10/10/2007, -7/+47This is way sad. Where my LOLcats at?
- kahlessreborn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+39Seymour is gonna be in the new futurama movie
- P373Y, on 10/10/2007, -2/+36why didnt the photographer help the dog
- Remmiz, on 10/10/2007, -2/+36Woosh
- JCSaint, on 10/10/2007, -3/+34Jesus, man. Way to make me feel horribly depressed.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+31You better not be getting my hopes up man...
I've invented a device that allows you to stab people in the face over the internet. Stabby stabby. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+31No, thank you, Ollie.
- MemeWarrior, on 10/10/2007, -4/+32Poor guy...
- jimmyp, on 10/10/2007, -1/+27I've never related to a digg comment more before in my life...
- SantaClauz, on 10/10/2007, -11/+35No, it would be sad if it was titled: "Puppy: Will It Blend?"
- yakimushi, on 10/10/2007, -2/+26I dunno... maybe the dog just likes water. The lab my family had when I was a kid loved the rain. We couldn't get him to come inside he liked water so much!
- Zarokima, on 10/10/2007, -2/+25That was the joke...
- serpanterra, on 10/10/2007, -3/+26And was on fire
- kazamx, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23That episode was cruel. You don't expect touching moments like that in a mainstream cartoon. I was taken aback by the end of that episode.
- Dundasbro, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23Tom: And now to our weatherman Ollie Williams for the Blackie-Weather Forecast, Ollie?
Olie: IT'S RAININ' SIDEWAYS!
Tom: Don't you have an umbrella?
Olie: USED TO!
Tom: Where is it now?
Olie: INSIDE OUT TWO MILES AWAY!
Tom: Is there anything we can do for you?
Olie: BRING ME SOME SOUP!
Tom: What kind?
Olie: CHUNKY!
Tom: Thanks, Ollie. Up next, a pig that refuses to eat Jews. After this. - openthink, on 10/10/2007, -13/+35great shot. really captures it in stark, subtle way.
- dudefather, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23he clearly doesn't care about dogs
- Sylveran, on 10/10/2007, -0/+22It's OK - go ahead and cry. Men are allowed to cry on very few occasions; Man-Dog Stories qualify as acceptable.
- Flipperbw, on 10/10/2007, -1/+20porn collection?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+23Pretty sure that child did not bring that upon him/her self. I think you need to evaluate your stance on this issue; unless you strive to be a heartless ass.
- impreza, on 10/10/2007, -5/+23Did it need help? I don't think it did.
- angusm, on 10/10/2007, -4/+22Actually, it didn't. Because the photographer had nailed its paws to the road to get it to stay still for the shot.
It may seem cruel to you, but sometimes you have to go the extra mile to get a really great shot. - rnwen2750, on 10/10/2007, -6/+24Why??? Now I want to cry.
- GorfTron, on 10/10/2007, -4/+22And also had 3 legs.
- Ellsass, on 11/05/2008, -3/+20...to get to the other side?
I don't get it. - Calcularius, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17Fry could have brought his dog back, but doesn't want to because he thinks it wouldn't remember him. That's the saddest and most bitterly ironic part.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+19The difference between people and dogs is that I like dogs.
- frieddonuts, on 10/10/2007, -5/+21*Goes into collection of "Cheer me up" pictures*
- JCSaint, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16Wow. Did not see that one coming. Double points.
- TheRedCoat, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18So, That kid in the picture brought it on himself huh?
- Hawker400, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15You're sick.
- Feener, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14I admit that I cried the first time I saw that episode, becomes even more poignant when you lose your own dog.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+17Never speak in third person.
Never. - najdorf, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16And was carrying his fourth leg in his mouth.
- thurows, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14I feel sorry for any dog on the South side of San Antonio, storm or no storm.
