- smedrick, on 04/11/2009, -1/+29A co-worker of mine just bought the starter pack and he's loving it. He said it feels just like a real cigarette whenever he takes a drag. He also loves being able to smoke it anywhere.
Personally, I was thoroughly impressed by the technology. It not only seems like a great way to quit smoking, but also an excellent alternative to cigarettes. You still get the nicotine without all the garbage and it's not at all offensive to non-smokers like myself. - S4MF1SHER, on 04/11/2009, -0/+22You can always quit again. My dad quit 3 times, he's getting better at it..
- Sakumi, on 04/11/2009, -1/+21"You don't want to sell me death sticks."
- smedrick, on 04/11/2009, -0/+19The e-cigarette can still give you various levels of nicotine. Plus, they say part of the addiction is just the whole ritual of putting the cigarette in and out of your mouth.
- Darkkshadow449, on 04/11/2009, -3/+22Portable weed vaporizer please?
- nmoulana, on 04/11/2009, -4/+23"You wanna buy some death sticks?"

- scschwa, on 04/11/2009, -0/+14They are supposed to be a full on replacement for smoking reg cigs. I don't understand why non-smokers are all pissed off about these and trash the product. It takes away any of the effects that are commonly cited by a non-smoker about a smoker; ie, the smell, the 2nd hand smoke.
And the smoker doesn't get cancer anymore.
Seems like a win-win on all sides, I don't know why people aren't completely excited about this. - malanic, on 04/10/2009, -0/+10I might give them a try.
The feedback sounds encouraging. Sure, they may be corporate drones, but a couple of the comments don't push any particular brand.
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ - maz2331, on 04/11/2009, -1/+11It's a valid question.
Keep in mind that nicotine is considered more addictive than heroin, and quitting is incredibly difficult with most people. Success rates are under 25% even with the best "programs".
Therefore, risk mitigation is the next best strategy. These things basically eliminate the main carcinogens (ie: the "tar") and the ashes/odors that offend non-smokers. - Flynnz, on 04/11/2009, -1/+11umm toxicology reports are saying they can still cause cancer, but the benefits of not having tar, and all the other chemicals in the lungs is a huge plus. I think as of right now you can only responsibly say that there is "less risk of cancer", but "no cancer"?, not so much.
With that said I will be getting one soon. I figure even though there are still health risks with the product, its still much safer than analog ciggs.

- JT3989, on 04/11/2009, -3/+12is it just me or does it seem like a lot of the comments supporting ecigs seem to be from people trying to sell them or promote websites where you can buy them? all the reviews seem fake and they're all similar
- specialK16, on 04/11/2009, -0/+9Don't worry, I'm sure politicians will get pay very good by the Tobacco companies to ban this.
- Elbryan233, on 04/11/2009, -0/+8Who'd want to smoke Batgirl?
- Gazthrak, on 04/11/2009, -0/+8I will attest to the whole act of smoking a cig being just as addicting as the nicotine. My last attempt was successful (11 months to date) because i replaced each urge with a lollipop.
Lots and lots of lollipops. - 1hrSleep, on 04/11/2009, -0/+7Eh, we non-smokers aren't pissed off about them. Bainemo is just retarded.
- Varanos, on 04/11/2009, -2/+9http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/1153/familyguysmo ...
- Calebh09, on 04/11/2009, -0/+7It's a lot safer... none of the tar or any other nasty chemicals. So it's quite a bit better than actually "smoking".
- cyberfreak01, on 04/11/2009, -0/+6there is digital equipment inside this thing, so technically it is digit, but it's geek speak for these. e-cigs are digitals, and regular cigs are analogs. Apparently it's pretty common amongst the people who use these.
- omgwtflawl, on 04/11/2009, -1/+7This should be a great way for people to get help with their smoking problem, until the politicians ban it and pillory the creators for "marketing to kids" or something like that.
- inactive, on 04/11/2009, -1/+7i dont even smoke and i wanna try one
- durruticolumn, on 09/18/2009, -1/+7
I switched to electronic cigarettes about three months ago, and haven't had a regular cigarette since. It's great, no cancer, my clothes don't smell, no secondhand smoke, and and I can smoke indoors. And it comes out cheaper in the long run than cigarettes.
The model and cartridges I use are very close to smoking a regular cigarette. - scschwa, on 04/11/2009, -0/+6He's saying that the cartriages that the e-cigs use are the equivalent of 15 cartons of cigs and cost $35.
- lisaawesome, on 04/11/2009, -0/+6I always feel kinda weird being the smoker who doesn't want to quit. It seems like everyone expects all smokers to want to quit. I don't smoke as heavily as I used to but I cannot imagine ever wanting to give them up completely.
- lesfleanut, on 04/11/2009, -0/+6hahaha analog cigs.
- cerealjynx, on 04/11/2009, -1/+6Sometimes I think I'm more addicted to the garbage than the actual nicotine, hence my refusal to smoke anything other than camel filters.
- rebelscribe, on 04/11/2009, -0/+5I'm a smoker, and I've been looking at these for about a month. But I'm not trying to quit, I want to smoke inside but I hate the smell more than I love the nicotine, so I just smoke outside.
Being a smoker, my favorite part about smoking is the feeling of the smoke inside my lungs, and the taste of a fine cigar, then the nicotine.
My question is, since these are basically mini-vaporizers, can I get a THC one? - Daodos, on 04/11/2009, -0/+4No. Its not easy, But its certainly something that is far from impossible. My Grandfather quit Smoking Cold Turkey first try at the age of 30. He was smoking since he was 6. People today seem to lack any willpower or dedication to stick to something. Thats probably why lots of Americans are obese too.
- Protonz, on 04/11/2009, -0/+4You don't understand politicians and anti-smoking nazis too well scschwa.
- digitalagent, on 04/11/2009, -2/+6You're a nicotine addict. Putting nicotine into your system will lead you back to the original source. Stay quit and don't ever take another puff. Also, don't allow nicotine into your system in any way. Congratulations! Feel good about being a non-smoker.
- Janv1er, on 04/11/2009, -0/+4Electronic cigarettes popular in Europe??
Never seen anybody smoke these. - frepnog, on 04/11/2009, -0/+4that is not too far fetched, depended on how long he has been smoking.
- joltcola, on 04/11/2009, -0/+4I'm not a smoker but if I was it still doesnt seem worth it to put up random people giving you crap in public places like a movie theater or an airport.
- SpeedyThing, on 04/11/2009, -0/+4You'd be surprised how quickly the cough goes
- DigitAl56K, on 04/11/2009, -1/+5In America you can sell almost anything by saying it's popular in Europe.
- nobodyatall, on 04/11/2009, -2/+5after picking up my e-cig I've quit my 2 pack a day analog habit
much safer for you than analogs and with the current prices much MUCH cheaper
i can get 30ml of juice for $35, its the equivalent for 15 cartons of smokes for me.
im waiting for Trog to get his screwdrivers back in stock so i can do some serious vaping.

i currently own a DES901 and a RN4088 both good designs - swift535, on 04/11/2009, -0/+3One big reason I bought one, is there's a ritual to smoking that I don't know if I could ever fully give up. Especially when I'm drinking, it's just nice to be able to smoke something. With these I don't just get nicotine - I get to smoke. I'm sure it sounds pretty silly to a non-smoker, but for smokers its a habit as much as an addiction.
- Czechxican, on 04/11/2009, -0/+3Yeah...like something chewy like NICOTINE GUM....oh wait....
- cyberfreak01, on 04/11/2009, -1/+4if you felt like making liquid thc then an e-cig would work too
- durruticolumn, on 09/18/2009, -0/+3
I'm through two of those reports, and I don't see anything about a risk of cancer.
Where are you seeing it? - durruticolumn, on 09/18/2009, -1/+4
"but there's still quite a difference between the feel of these and normal smokes."
I smoked for 10 years, and I found them to be a pretty solid substitute. I'd say you should try a different model or different cartridges. - dafragsta, on 04/11/2009, -1/+4It's still analog. There is nothing digital about this process. It's just not combustion. It's vaporization. There is still something being heated to create vapor.
- robwhite1979, on 04/11/2009, -1/+4Does anyone know any retailers in Canada that sell the capsules?? I've been a smoker for over 10 years and quit in bursts in the past using patches/"traditional inhalers", but then found myself hooked on those... I'd love to give these a shot...

- frepnog, on 04/11/2009, -0/+3the cravings never go away completely. the longest i have quit was close to a year at one time, and during that year i still craved one after dinner.
- frepnog, on 04/11/2009, -2/+5there is a "cool factor" with smoking. that is one of the main reasons young people start, other than peer pressure.
- Oomsoup, on 04/12/2009, -0/+3It does feel "cool" to many smokers and I'll try to give you a few reasons why. People usually start smoking when they are teenagers. As teens they are not allowed to buy cigarettes so already that makes you feel cool, like you are saying "***** you" to authority. Your parents (even if they smoke) are horrified you started and anything that pisses them off is cool. For most people now 25-60 (or so), the movies we saw growing up definitely made smoking look cool. It was always the bad kids doing it, or the "bad boy" hero type with a heart of gold. It's hard to let go of that image in your head.
Also, smoking DOES set you apart from "normal" society. People give you dirty looks when you light up and that helps fuel the "outcast" persona. Nothing feels cooler than leaning against a wall, smoking and then flicking that cigarette to the street. It just makes you feel like a badass, however silly that seems.
Cigarettes give you a barrier too, against the world. You can keep people away with them so it becomes a useful tool for getting people out of your face.
When I would get nervous and didn't know what to do with my hands I would light a cigarette so there's that aspect, too. It made me more confident.
Still, glad I quit last year but now I feel so... domesticated. :) - bonerfide, on 04/11/2009, -0/+3Smokers should switch to this to boycott the new cigarette tax.
- Daodos, on 04/11/2009, -0/+3Once your addicted. You are always addicted. You will have cravings most likely forever. But its all fine as long as you keep at it.
