- kjk437, on 10/31/2007, -0/+52Probably more like a, "Well, *****, guess this is it... Might as well take a picture."
- adampolselli, on 10/30/2007, -2/+41I'm taking a history of photography course at my university right now. The photograph was introduced to the public in 1839, but earlier photographs exist. This photo was taken in 1884, and by that time the process had greatly improved. Exposure times were down to a few seconds. By the looks of it, particularly in the dust around the base of the tornado, this had an exposure of perhaps five to 10 seconds.
- browwiw, on 11/02/2007, -1/+37goddam you and your clever irony
- fantasticFlan, on 10/30/2007, -0/+34You're crooked and awkwardly tapered.
- Ninjapope, on 11/05/2007, -5/+37Didn't it take 30 minutes of exposure to make a picture back then? If so, this picture is that much more bad ass.
- EvanVolm, on 10/30/2007, -2/+33I think that was the same cow...
- AriaStar, on 10/31/2007, -5/+31Looks like something out of hell.
- UtopiaInTheSky, on 11/02/2007, -0/+26You fail at the internet.
- jedi924, on 11/02/2007, -0/+22Hey, it looks like there is a face in the clouds. Look at the light spot just to the left of center.
- gonzoblair, on 11/04/2007, -0/+21Everyone who saw that tornado is now DEAD. Coincidence?
- JustinHorne, on 10/30/2007, -1/+22Do you SERIOUSLY think the tornado stayed nice and still for him, for 30 FREAKING MINUTES?!
- tcpip4lyfe, on 10/31/2007, -0/+19Why wouldn't it? Those were simpler times.
- inactive, on 10/30/2007, -2/+18There's cows and a farmer's house in there.
- Tr33fiddy, on 10/30/2007, -0/+11Doesn't matter how good yours looks if all you're going to do with it is jerk off to Digg.

- UtopiaInTheSky, on 10/30/2007, -0/+7If it's "global" warming, then where should we run? Mars?
- Nick2632, on 10/30/2007, -1/+8Yeah, but it makes our e-penis look better.
- tsalti, on 10/30/2007, -1/+8As it turns out, this is also the first picture to ever be taken in South Dakota. : P
- Ziggygallaway, on 11/05/2007, -28/+35Yeah, when I saw this it had "66" digs and "6" comments, had to dig and comment to get past that...
- lordkinbote, on 11/02/2007, -0/+6That's no moon! IT'S A TRAIN STATION!
- badjoke, on 10/30/2007, -1/+6Depends on the camera. 35mm is somewhere around 17 mega pixels if I remember correctly. There's cameras well over 20 mega pixels now.
- ale402, on 10/31/2007, -0/+5Aw. This makes me miss Nebraska!! :(
- badjoke, on 10/30/2007, -0/+5Looks like it's wailing. "Noooo, I'm camera shy!"

- DaBiggstA, on 10/30/2007, -0/+4This is actualy the tornado in the beginning of twister! If you look closely you can see Jo's dad being sucked out of the cellar.
- Abestar, on 10/31/2007, -0/+4It looks like a person screaming in pain.
- jon30041, on 10/30/2007, -0/+4Eh... not so much. It doesn't resemble a hand, so sorry, the Presence did not exist back in the 19th century.

- fantasticFlan, on 10/30/2007, -1/+3Probably none.
- lightslol, on 10/31/2007, -1/+3What's there to miss?
- vofuse, on 10/31/2007, -0/+2Simpson's did it.
- ahughes, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2Not only must this be one of the oldest pictures of a tornado, it captures the rare occurrence of a tornado spawning two sister tornadoes.
- crackedlogic, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2I agree with supersam. The funnel touching the ground is way too pronounced for anything more than a second or two.
- defektiv, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2seven.. ahh, i can hear the angels sing.
- RichLatherX23, on 10/30/2007, -0/+2Proof, please? Any references you'd like to cite?
