- seoul_scurry, on 05/29/2009, -2/+224No budget for cleaning a park, but plenty of budget to harass citizens with porky police officers.
- CamZak, on 05/29/2009, -2/+123What would be ironic (for the police officer) is if he's sentenced to community service.
- Pardis, on 05/29/2009, -0/+114our next story, man is arrested for picking up trash.
- nkleffman, on 05/29/2009, -0/+90"Did you really think that we want those laws to be observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against - then you'll know that this is not the age for beautiful gestures. We're after power and we mean it. You fellows were pikers, but we know the real trick, and you'd better get wise to it. There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted - and you create a nation of law-breakers - and then you cash in on guilt. Now, that's the system, Mr. Rearden, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with."
- WhiteHatTrick, on 05/30/2009, -1/+79What would be ironic is if the man arrested gets community service and has to mow that very lawn.
- whitecracka, on 05/29/2009, -1/+55Ain't it ironic when someone like this gets arrested for trying to help, by doing something harmless... and yet people like Specter gets special treatment during his MURDER trials.
- bakedpajamas, on 05/30/2009, -0/+52"A witness said Hamilton was blowing grass onto the sidewalk and shredding trash in the park that had not been picked up."
Instead of being a ***** tattle tail, this "witness", could have maybe helped pick up trash or rake grass.
Calling the cops on someone trying to do good is *****. It goes to show that no good deed goes unpunished. - Elsewhere42, on 05/30/2009, -0/+48Even more funny: The city I live in has placed a notice sign in front of an over-grown plot of land indicating that the tall grass and stagnant water is a code violation. The plot of land is owned by the city.
- wTheOnew, on 05/30/2009, -0/+47How come every time my home town makes it into the news it's for doing something completely retarded?
- thebigredcat, on 05/30/2009, -0/+40How about the woman who was arrested for putting money in parking meters? Again, in Ohio.
http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2004/07/24/loc_lo ... - unknownpoltroon, on 05/30/2009, -0/+31Does this mean i can call the cops when maintenance workers blow grass on the sidewalk also?
- drew101, on 05/30/2009, -0/+31i think, given all recent events it's fortunate that he wasen't shot to death.
- wTheOnew, on 05/30/2009, -0/+27What was the person that posted this looking for???
This was included on the end of the URL and is not needed to get to the story: &feed=rss.bondage - inactive, on 05/30/2009, -4/+30Another fine example of our non-elected public servants completely missing the point of what they do...
I freaking HATE police. - TrichomeKid, on 05/30/2009, -2/+27Are you fcking serious?
"Heh heh, we got that son of a bitch, our work here is done. Crazy lunatic is off the streets, and a $100 ticket fine in the city's pocket. God DAMN I feel good. Okay boys, you can go home and beat your wives with pride tonight." - Suil, on 05/30/2009, -0/+23For anyone interested, this is a quote from Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged".
- moxley, on 05/30/2009, -4/+27Dear Ohio,
What the ***** is wrong with you? Everytime I see some headline about the abuse of normal people who are trying to go out of their way to keep their community nice, or some other ridiculous *****, Ohio is usually where it occurs.
You were also the state where fraud was perpetrated during an election which resulted in 4 more years of Bush (not that Obama so far has shown he is really that different, but we won't go into that here).
Ohio, I think you need to take your backward ass, fascist ***** to another country. I would suggest Canada, but I don't think they'd want you.
Maybe you can secede and take central PA with you. - Ne007, on 05/30/2009, -2/+23The world has gone to hell!
Get your ***** straight people and stop bitching about ***** THAT DOESN'T PHYSICALLY ***** HURT YOU! - ammundsen, on 05/30/2009, -0/+20Calling the cops is the thing to do now. 911 is as much a curse as a blessing. Instead of people resolving problems on their own they use the police. The problem is modern police come to every situation armed and ready to use violence and deadly force. When your neighbor's music is too loud and you call the police your first step to resolving the problem is a guy with a gun. No one thinks of it like that, but that is the reality.
And, the police would rather take a call like this because they know they will be interacting with a helpful citizen and not a dangerous criminal. - inactive, on 05/30/2009, -0/+20But this is local government. Little time bureaucrats with plenty of time and no brains.
They make laws simply to ***** with your head like, water your lawns in a drought while we ban watering except for 7am to 8 am Tuesday. And guess what? They know most of you start work at 7am. It costs you $200 if you don't water your lawns and 300 if you do. Add to that, you can't install a water tank without a permit. The permit costs $300 and inspection costs $400. Yep $400 for a dick head with his thumb up his arse to inspect your tank. You can't build a carport but the idiots down the road can park wrecks all over the front lawn.
I hate local government, they are ***** useless. - BossKey, on 05/30/2009, -0/+19"I Fought the Lawn"
- lex0nyc, on 05/30/2009, -1/+20Th-th-th-th-that's against the law, folks!
- Treshnell, on 05/30/2009, -0/+18Maybe cut back a little on whatever it was that did that to you...
- inactive, on 05/30/2009, -0/+17Of course! The cop needs to fill his ticket quota and this women is screwing that up. You better not cross the police no matter who you are. They will slap you, hard too.
- jiesa, on 05/30/2009, -0/+16It looks like Ohio has a few too many police officers. Maybe they should fire some and hire some gardeners and road repairers. Did they REALLY think this man wasn't going to clean up the grass and trash on the sidewalk when he was done mowing? I mean really? Really?
- Nerys, on 05/30/2009, -0/+16Another example for why "disorderly conduct" should be an illegal law. It show not be allowed to have "catch all" means anything we want it to mean laws.
- lisaawesome, on 05/30/2009, -0/+15It's really sad we can't help out our communities anymore. I'd be happy to see a resident take pride in their town and put in the effort to keep it nice.
- CanuckPenguin, on 05/30/2009, -0/+14First thought that this was an article from the Onion.
- RyeBrye, on 05/30/2009, -0/+14What the hell? You are like the internet equivalent of that guy on the bus that talks to himself loudly and uncomfortably tries to engage others in his rants.
- WhiteHatTrick, on 05/30/2009, -0/+14Same here, last story I saw on digg about my hometown was a dude sprayed the kids toilet papering his house with a super soaker pee gun.
- defendliberty, on 05/30/2009, -0/+14If I got pulled over with POUNDS of Marijuana, I would go to jail for along time. If a famous rapper does it.....
If I cause an accident, flee the scene, I would go to jail. If a famous female pop idol does it....
I could go on all day. I'm sure our founding fathers would be proud. - DonAlfred, on 05/30/2009, -0/+14America…
- Nerys, on 05/30/2009, -0/+14If I were in charge of a town I would have brought the police out to the park. Saw the guy mowing shredding etc.. I would have gone up to the guy who tattled on him and said is that the guy you called about?
when he said yes I would say your under arrest for not assisting a fellow citizen in cleaning up the park and for obstruction of official business for calling us and wasting our time instead of just helping him. - diggerwut, on 05/30/2009, -0/+14No good deed goes unpunished
- inactive, on 05/30/2009, -0/+13Wow, that's dirty. I hope that's not true. I'm totally going to read Ayn Rand's work now.
- SpinningHead, on 05/30/2009, -1/+14Wow. Meanwhile, here is a story about a mayor encouraging residents to help cut the grass in city parks. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?story ...
- inactive, on 05/30/2009, -0/+12How you confuse Texas and Ohio is mind boggling.
- Robearbobo, on 05/30/2009, -2/+13Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, 1-800-964-4699, (202) 225-4146 (DC Office), (419) 259-7500 (Ohio Office)

You, sir, know irony. - bazzarr, on 05/30/2009, -0/+10You see more and more of this happening every day and it scares the crap out of me. Its come to the point where you don't know if your breaking the law or not anymore. Seems that if a police officer is so inclined (he/she hasn't been laid in a while and is pissed), they will FIND a reason to arrest you even if its dismissible later on in court.
As a counter balance to this, if an officer is found guilty of wrongful or spiteful arrest, they should throw his ass in jail for a day or two then watch how fast these situations come to a stop. I guarantee it. - h8f8kes, on 05/30/2009, -0/+10So we have officially become a nation of wimps. We must be dependent on government to do everything for us instead of providing for ourselves; and if anyone tries to do something on thier own for the greater good we have this happen.
- concusion, on 05/30/2009, -0/+10Absolute ***** that people need to be arrested for doing something good. This country is ready to fall in on itself, we got too many morons walking on this earth, its only a matter of time.
- morepowerr, on 05/30/2009, -0/+9Dear Moxley.
It is the fault of the crock that run ***** here. We don't have real election here we have Buy ins. If you can afford to pay off the right people you get the job. But then I am from Marion and our City Counsel made it in the top 20 most Corporate Counsel in the US this year.
There is a sign as you come in to the state that says.
Welcome to Ohio "Bend Over!" Care of the state high patrol. - mikewill7seven, on 05/30/2009, -0/+9Dude come on. Your from Sandusky and you forgot to mention that one of the nations largest amusement parks reside their. There should be money to help clean up the area around Cedar Point. Absolutely effin ridiculous.
- Pardis, on 05/30/2009, -0/+8since when is a PUBLIC park the lawn of someone else?
- trakie, on 05/30/2009, -2/+10i cant even guage if you are conservative or liberal or just stupid.
-death penalty is big among conservatives but you are making fun of it
-you apparently hate a big liberal like dean
-do you really think kids can't jump on the internet and see sex anytime they want?
-conservatives are supposed to be against government laws
-oil ban? because liberals don't drive cars or use plastics?
i think ill settle on calling you stupid or ignorant for getting some of the conservative halfway right, but in the end just mucking it all up. - novakaine, on 05/30/2009, -0/+8Jeez, they should be paying this guy not arresting him.
- marmotjmarmot, on 05/30/2009, -1/+9Another policy probably caused by out over litigious society. If he had hurt himself, someone else, or damaged anything, Who would have been sued? The City most likely. Kudos to the man who wanted to make things better, shame on the nanny state for stopping him.
- Allusion219, on 05/30/2009, -0/+7Who is John Galt?
- EricAnderton, on 05/30/2009, -0/+7Utterly ridiculous. If anything, the man should be handed a tax deduction for time and materials.
