- lazrus18, on 10/12/2007, -4/+100I don't know if that's an approved method of extermination, but I like it.
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -18/+111I'd punch every single one of them in the face.
- mrfreeziexp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+75Funniest article to hit digg in a long time. Wish I could digg 3 times.
Tonight, we are having Roast Bee. - anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -6/+77Oh the beemanity!
- bking, on 10/12/2007, -15/+7712/23 NEVER FORGET.
- artic, on 10/12/2007, -6/+62As a beekeeper I'm saddened to some degree by the use of such excessive force to remove a near harmless swarm of bees, that likely would have left on their own within a few hours. This would have been an easy swarm to remove too. It is a pity they couldn't contact any one to remove it, it seems they only called about the bees on the wall, and instead harassed and eventually killed them (while not even getting stung none the less). Bees killed for harmlessly just doing what bees know to do...
Such docile feral honeybees are in big trouble in the US, due to mites disease and to a lesser extent Africanized bees.
(My first post, I'm not a crazy tree hugger but I do like me – my bees) - akira117, on 10/12/2007, -7/+52"OH DEAR LORD ITS SO BEAUTIFUL. I AM SO PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN RIGHT NOW."
LOL best. line. ever.

(Oh it will) - anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -7/+50Isn't it weird how size determines how important the life of something is?
If this was 10,000 rabbits or (to go bigger) 10,000 dogs, would the response still be the same? - ivaldes1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+38'We had to destroy the swing set to save it.'
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+38There needs to be a new word invented to accurately describe how cool this is.
- samadam, on 10/12/2007, -1/+36On a serious note, those are some high quality pictures. I love the one with the bucket of paint thinner hovering right over the fire, and then the exploding picture in the next frame.
Must have used a digital SLR. - dtd00d, on 10/12/2007, -3/+33Now that's a science project.
Mankind 1, Beekind 0 - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29redneck engineering ftw
- TheSaladMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26@gerryk
Lighten up, I know if I had a whole lot of bees on my property and I was alergic (Like the guy was) I'd want to get rid of them ASAP. And don't go making it an anti american thing either because I live in the UK and would still do it. - CerebralVisions, on 10/12/2007, -5/+29I love the cardboard to protect the grass
- diggmonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23Were those the Africanized variety he would have been toast. My uncle used to go to folks houses with similar problems and remove them for them. He'd capture them, usually from the tree branch they'd swarmed to, and bring them home to a hive he had ready. Bees are really very unaggressive. All you have to do is get the queen and the rest will follow willingly. He handled this situation completely wrong.
Honey is good. Bees make honey. Bees are good. - sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23Buzzkill.
- krinthekuz, on 09/16/2008, -0/+20i love the mushroom cloud
- EGOvoruhk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19"Bees! Bees! Bees in the car! Bees Everywhere! God, they're huge! They're ripping my flesh off!"
- Settra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Hey, it exterminated the bees.
The swingset was screwed though.. - AJRiddle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Does it matter?
- Pigeon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19No ***** way. Just after reading this that thread I was stung by a ***** wasp that suddenly appeared in my room. :S
- fiver22, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19well said, and welcomed -coming from an informed source.
- Moocat, on 10/12/2007, -6/+23While the idea of having a bunch of bees hanging around my house doesn't make me comfortable (especially IN my house) honeybees are notoriously the most docile of just about any species of bee. In fact, if they had been a little smarter, they could be having honey instead of "roast bee" (one of their bottom comments on the pics). And I love honey :)
- astroshot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15I agree, let's get our insect enemy priorities straight. Let's focus on the fireants & africanized bees instead.
- topato, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19@gerryk
Wait... did you just defend the rights of bees? That was perhaps the stupidest comment I've ever seen on digg. GOOD JOB! - Talphin, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19I have probably killed about 100 million ants in my lifetime. Some were one at a time, and some were absolute ***** genocide. (terro is a bitch!) Either way, I always imagine if some giant being were doing the same to me, how would I feel?!
Then I keep on destroying those little mother *****... - smafty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13They are great photos. He used a Canon Rebel XT according to the Exif info.
- strabes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14I think the cardboard also served as a sliding platform for the grill thing, so that they could pull it under the bees with the rope so they wouldn't have to go so close to it. Ghetto yes but sweet at the same time.
- zephc, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17Shock and Awe, bee-otches!
- Clevinger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14@ akira117: Something Awful might just be one of the few non-corporate websites that can handle the Digg effect.
- theone3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13karma
edit:ow. - yorch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13yes but..............Will they blend?
- madholepunch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Killed Bees
- mky5439, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13Am i the only person who wants to see 10,000 flaming rabbits now?
- Paii, on 10/12/2007, -7/+16Yes.
- rationalist, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14Honeybees fill an essential part of our living ecosystem, and they are dying off. No bees, no pollination of many flora that have evolved specifically to attract the bees - including many things we eat.
In fact, bees pollinate virtual one-quarter of all the crops on the planet - including almonds, apples, apricots, avocados, blackberries, cantaloupes, cherries, cranberries, cucumbers, pears, raspberries, strawberries, and watermelon.
And that is not even accounting for the value of honey, beeswax, propolis and even bee venom - which is being researched as potentially containing treatments for multiple sclerosis and arthritis.
It's not surprising to me that so many people posting here are completely ignorant of the critical importance of honeybees to the very ability of this planet to sustain humanity. It is sad, but not surprising. - wolfzero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I heart BBQ'd bees. Stop stinging us, or we're gunna mass produce this 'kit' and sell it at Wal-Mart.
- MightyGiant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Words can not explain
- randomvictim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Yes he sure did rewind that swing set.
- Shroomie, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12The second to last picture, with the Mini-Mushroom Cloud, makes me hard.
- synystar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9My favorite comment on that thread: "Did you damage the swingset at all?" That warrants a new acronym:
Did you even LATFP? - DeathJux, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Why are you digging him down? That was my favorite caption out of the whole thing. Simply hilarious.
- cybersnafu, on 10/12/2007, -17/+25I'M TIRED OF ALL THESE ***** BEES ON THIS ***** SWING!
- CanadianAviator, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10What?
Wow. - SteelChicken, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9let us know how that works out for you when all the bees are dead and they no longer pollinate our food supply.
- LordDshyzL, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7***** a bee, but a flying horse that stings- that ***** is scary
- fiver22, on 10/12/2007, -18/+25Am I the only one who felt uncomfortable with all this? -I mean, no one was stung yet these people killed around (their est.) 10000 bees and proceeded to brag about it invoking current american war terminology (!!?!?!) -to me it seemed like sociopathic behaviour. Bees are pretty helpful and non-aggressive little guys -why take pleasure in their unnecessary destruction? -In fact: take your kids to a local bee farm and enjoy the honey and education.
