- ontain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29This reminds me of how the villians in Bond movies start out :)
- Ub3rg33k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27Should you still even call it a yacht? Isn't it just a privately owned cruise ship at this point?
- thehans, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22He should literally be worried about the threat of piracy now. Pun intended.
- scottmoss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21You can register a yacht or jet in just about any country you want. It allows you to bypass the taxes in certain countries. Allens yachts (yes yachts) are all registered in Bermuda....
- mogus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21You own more than one because you leave them in your favorite ports around the world. You then board your private jet, fly to the port city du jour, and then have the little helicopter pick you up. I do it all the time. Wait, no I don't.
- alecks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18It's a rich thing, you wouldn't understand...
- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22Wow. Talk about having too much money.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Christ, site is already dead after 30 diggs.
http://www.duggmirror.com - jiminoc, on 10/12/2007, -10/+23And you want to bitch about my illegal copy of windows? ***** you Mr Allen.
At least gates gives back to the kids. The only thing Allen is giving back are a few jobs to mop up his hair loss treatments on the deck. - stung47000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13The first thing you have to do is take out those round shield generators. Then that star destroyer will be going down in no time!
- jjk5, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14It might do you some good to know what you're talking about before spouting off like that.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Allen#Philanthropy - HP844182, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11That's a beautiful ship.
- efriese, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11That would be awesome. Windows Genuine Advantage isn't protecting him now.
- Topher06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10And what, pay US taxes. If your super rich, you register your yacht outside of the country you pay taxes to.
- erkokite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9That's no yacht, that's more like a cruise ship.
- DigeratiPrime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8hey as long as it isnt a space station...
- habu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Not up on my yachts.. but if it is owned by Paul Allen should it not be US flaged?
- oneeyedelf1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7That 200 million did help people, he didnt magically convert money into a product, he paid workers to make it. Who bought stuff that was made by other workers. Essentially he put 200 million into circulation that had been sitting in his bank. If you have a job you preform a service/make something for money. If people dont buy your product you loose your job.
Captchas suck ass - Guncrazy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Said jiminoc, "I already read that you dumb *****. He gives pennies compared to his value."
It's not your money, so shut the ***** up.
You, jiminoc, are a pathetic turd for taking umbrage at decisions which are none of your business.
It would be the same damn thing if I were to complain that your dick ends up in too many ***** and not enough pussy. Why should I care if you're gay? It wouldn''t affect me. It ought to make no difference to me whether you pleasure men, or women, or just yourself. So I stay the hell out of it.
With respect to Paul Allen and his money, you ought to do the same. - Guncrazy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Said efriese, "That would be awesome. Windows Genuine Advantage isn't protecting him now."
No, WGA isn't protecting him. But I'll bet he's got some seriously heavy firepower on board when he sails into open waters. If he sails into open waters.
Mr. Allen, if you're interested in hunting down REAL pirates, I'd like to send you my resumé. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9The reason the "richers" don't register their yatchs here in the gold ol' US of A is under some certain law the navy can commandeer it if we ever go to war.....or something to that effect.
Of course, with the patriot act and the new military act they can take whatever they want for whatever they want so eh... - DocJelly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I saw it at Port Everglades a couple years back, and it was tied up to the cruise ship dock because it just wouldn't fit in the marina with the other boats. A friend of mine works for a yacht maintenance company offshore and has been onboard. He told me it has a moon pool. What's a moon pool you ask? A moon pool is the opposite of a sunroof... it's a piece of the hull that slides open allowing the sub (or divers) to launch from inside the hull. As soon as he said that, I started with the Dr Evil parallels... Can you imagine a job placement ad for "underwater soldier/henchman"?

- ersnyder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4He's also renovating run down parts of Seattle and pours money into the arts. He gets my vote.
- zirtbow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Man... SOMEBODY not compensating for anything.
(really though thats a pretty cool ship) - DublinBen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3it's no longer the largest in the world. but it's still my favorite
- MemeWarrior, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It kind of reminds me of a Star Destroyer...
- Sanitarium, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Dugg to death already
http://www.duggmirror.com/offbeat_news/Octopus_It_s_a_monster_superyacht_owned_by_Microsoft_s_Paul_Allen/
EDIT: Other Links weren't there when I Posted this.... My Bad. - Angostura, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Odd, my thoughts were that it was big, but certainly not beautiful or even particularly interesting in design, sorry.
- diecastbeatdown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Let's see Paul Allen's card.
Look at that subtle off-white coloring.
The tasteful thickness of it.
Oh, my God. It even has a watermark. - mshaslam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yes, but where do you keep the stolen nuclear weapons, team of scuba commandos, and luxurious state room/prison for any super spies you happen to cross paths with? At least tell me he has an unnecessarily complex and easily escapable method of dispatching his foes. Some things should come standard with a vessal like this.
- zeiben, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3See, this is the kind of crap Gates needs to spend his money on - not stupid malaria.
- Crusty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2At the pace I'm making money, it will only take me 3,452 years before I can afford a ship like that. I can't wait! I'm already deciding on the interior colors and design!
- moonshn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2all jokes aside, piracy is still a serious issue in the Bahamas and other parts of the Caribbean.
When i went to the Bahamas on my friend's father's 60' Hatteras as a child they kept a small arsenal on board. One night we were anchored in a cove and the proximity alarm on the radar went off waking the captain. The approaching vessel was showing no nav lights, so the captain grabbed the 12 gauge and fired a few shots into the air. At which point the approaching boat reversed course and got the hell out of there. - flipmeat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Coming soon to a Bond film near you? A fine bad guy's boat, or floating base for M and Q. I wonder if the crew needs a network admin.
- techtalk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1awesome! I love that movie!
- webbsk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For $200 million, it better be beautiful!
- jus1haz2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Thats badass! I want one
- ersnyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1""US flag? Where's the 12th man flag?""
Even though you were dugg down by others, you got my vote. I feel ya.
Heck yes 12th man. - jiminoc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2According to Wikipedia, the $200 million pricetag would put him around 179 on country list of gross national product in the world
- orangemarmalade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A SPACE STATION! THAT'S WHAT I DON'T HAVE!
- ersnyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1AWESOME!
- CaveMike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Most of the ships of the world fly Liberia colors. IIRC, Panama and Bermuda follow after that.
- Tawni, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Octopus left barbados on 10/25..... Must be good to be rich lol
- fjacky66, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What the submarine look like?Has there ever been pictures of the sub.
- efriese, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4This almost makes me sick. I don't have anything against making large sums of money, but what you do with it counts.
- penguinsix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If your vessel is US flagged, you have to use union sailors? Or some of the crew has to be unionized I think. That's the case with commercial ships (which is why there are so few US flagged commercial vessels) but not sure about private boats
- Guncrazy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Taxes.
- miker71, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1He must get really lonely in there. Though I guess they need all that room for the Windows tech support. It does run on Windows, right?
- willi698, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There is more info and links to pictures here:
