- dreamtiger, on 10/10/2007, -30/+82How is Nugent allowed to claim that his obvious terrorist hate speech is only rock & roll? If a liberal musician made such comments about Bush, he would already be in jail.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -16/+65Nugent is a thin-skinned pussy... all talk. But he ought to be investigated by the secret service for his threats, just like anybody else would.
- ChristPissed, on 10/10/2007, -24/+67I want to see him in jail, ***** and pissing his pants like he did when he appeared for his draft deferment.
- hunt4r, on 10/10/2007, -3/+44as i recall Rage Against The Machine summoned for bush to be executed at their first show this year...so no it wouldn't land you in jail.
- satanatnmtedu, on 10/10/2007, -2/+33He can say what he wants. But, I can tell him he is an idiot, too. Free speech always works both ways. If you can't handle the criticism, then stop opening your mouth to insert both feet.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -9/+30And of course O'Lielly has to have him on.
He just loves getting close to "real men". - ATHEISTinHELL, on 10/10/2007, -3/+23I may not listen to his music. But he can say what ever the ***** he wants. What gets to me is when someone is offended by what someone says, it's always because the hear it in the echo chamber that is the internet or media. Your not his audience.
- swrostmore, on 10/10/2007, -12/+30"To try to make a comment in a meaningful, sincere way from the rock & roll stage is really apples and grenades," Nugent said. "...We're talking about staged outrage."
You have to admit, he has a point. - Hetman, on 10/10/2007, -4/+20I really like Ted Nugent's music. White buffalo is one of my favorite songs. Unfortunately after seeing him August 6th in a Chicago house of blues I think he is a piece of *****. August 6th is the anniversary date that Hiroshima was bombed by an atomic bomb. He said this "the only good jap is a crispy jap." It was just horrible taste and racist.
- swrostmore, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17The dixie chicks didn't say anything offensive, though. They just said Bush made them ashamed to be from Texas.
- swrostmore, on 10/10/2007, -20/+36Remember guys, conservatives have the right to free speech just like real people.
- bassjam5, on 10/10/2007, -10/+25Ann Coulter and Ted Nugent now that would be a Right Wingers wet dream. Just a thought.
- moskaudancer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14eeew
- BlacklabelSAR, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14Regardless of how you feel about Ted Nugent (not a fan myself) we should all be willing to fight to the death to protect his right to free speech. US Citizenship 101. Why? So that each of us will also have the right to free expression.
Brainwashed idiots will not understand this at all.
Example: I would love to see Cheney meet some ironically horrible fate.
Without ideals, we have no foundation....kind of like things are now. - nblsavage, on 10/10/2007, -4/+17You're right..nowadays its just from his incontinence.
- nblsavage, on 10/10/2007, -19/+31There won't be any repercussions because his target audience is knuckle-draggers who think like him.
- zweben, on 10/10/2007, -4/+15There's quite a bit of conservative outrage if someone forgets to zip their fly up.
- RollFizzlebeef, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12It's not true because he said it in High Times and retracted it later?
- MacEnvy, on 10/10/2007, -7/+18But threatening a presidential candidate wouldn't? *****.
If the Nuge had said he wanted to put a gun in Mitt Romney's mouth, he'd be in ***** Guantanamo right now. - rickbauls, on 10/10/2007, -4/+15***** that. Diggers generally claim to be such libertarians, demanding freedom in every way, but once a person posts a story about a guy being racist and whatnot, BOOM ***** freedom of speech. I'm not a fan of his music, or what he has to say, but he has a right to say it. "I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it." – Thomas Jefferson
- wageslaven, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12I think Nugent is an idiot. But, I believe he is right, its an act, no one really thinks he would do this himself. now, if he "econuraged" others to do it, we might have a problem.
Yes, its irresponsible and dangerous, but is it criminal? I hope not. - adooga, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12Not a legal expert I take it. When would threatening someone's life be legal?
- mishabear, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13But then they don't like watching gay sex...just participating.
- adooga, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Ted can say what he likes as far as I care. I don't have to pay him any attention if I don't want to.
- pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11and they got plenty of death threats for it. i'm wondering of any of them were from nugent fans.
- cquinnd, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10No, the correction was correct.
"The audience is leaving." The subject is singular.
"The audience are knuckle-draggers" The subject is plural, so the description is changed to apply to individual audience members. - MacEnvy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Absolutely. If someone on digg or Fark can get a visit from the Secret Service for comments made on a web board, then inciting crowds to violence from the stage of a rock concert should get you a one way trip to Supermax.
(and yes, the former has happened) - nihilite, on 10/10/2007, -7/+16You guys are bullies. Beating up on a retarded guy who thinks he is a "rock star." You should be ashamed.
poor little retarded guy. - rickbauls, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12Why is the presidents life more important than yours or mine? What did he do? All he did was stand at a podium and say, "I was told to tell you I am against everything the democraps are for... vote for me". Then idiots voted for him. Any monkey out there can do that (and this president has proven it). How is he any different than you and I? He *****, he sleeps, he was born, he will eventually die, he is just another human. Why does he deserve any more protection than any of us?
- cquinnd, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10People have the same right to be offended that he has to say what he wants.
That's the beauty of free speech. You do not have the right to have society protect you from the speech of others. - Hetman, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Telling someone they are an ***** because they are a racist is freedom of speech also. People are not saying he should be censored. People are saying he is a douchbag and should not listen to him.
- iceman0113, on 10/10/2007, -5/+12FTA: ""They've threatened to kill me," Nugent said, referring to what he said were previous attempts on his life. "We got the files with law enforcement. This guy is obviously a nut case. But he is actually making a statement to assassinate fellow Americans." and what about when you, Ted Nugent, publicly degrade and threaten presidential candidates who are fellow Americans as well? There should be no double standard for this kind of talk at all, if that blogger was investigated because he threatened Nugent's life, then Nugent should be investigated for threatening presidential candidates.
- mishabear, on 10/10/2007, -7/+14Anyone remember the Dixie Chicks and the commotion they caused? It's all just talk, people. Entertainment for the masses.
- RollFizzlebeef, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8You mean...like Ted Haggard or Mark Foley or Larry Craig?
- Marc39, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Bottom line, he was born in 1948 and since the Vietnam War ran from approximately from 1964-1975, he was eligible to sign-up for 9 of those 11 years.
Face it Ted lovers, he is like all the other chickenhawks. He loves war but is a pussy when it comes time to serve. - rickbauls, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8People at the top of the page are saying he should be jailed.
- swrostmore, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8That is pretty ***** up, right there.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7well isn't this similar to what REM did in their concert. I mean sure this guy didn't get censored, but other than that it seems very similar. I mean if thats how the guys wants to express himself, why not.
- BlacklabelSAR, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9First: I have no love for Ted Nugent (though as a kid I enjoyed his music, but hey I was 12 and grew out of it) But I _am_ for freedom of speech even if the message is one that 100% disagree with (that's what makes you a real "American" btw, and most people and organizations can't meet that ideal).
So unless he said that he was actually going to kill someone, then it's freedom of speech. To be a Founding Father type of US citizen, the type that we are told to idealize in school, you have to be an idealist. Not in the negative connotation, but in holding ideals, not people, as the greater good. Like the ideal "Love thy neighbor". I think that both "sides" of the "Left vs Right" false choice don't get that, but that is human nature. Oh and btw humans are weak pathetic little creatures. I can just barely ***** tolerate the whole lot of you. ;) - nihilite, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8nah. he's free to say it. but i am free to say ***** him for saying it.
Nugent has nothing intelligent to say. i went and saw him just a month ago because he was dedicating a rock-monument to his mother "ma nugent". the guy is like a hyperactive 5 year old.
he has strong opinions.. i doubt he minds that people have strong opinions about him. why do you mind so much? - nihilite, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9yeah, but Tom Morello kicks ass. Ted is a butt pirate.
plus, tom was probably kidding. .... maybe. - swrostmore, on 10/10/2007, -11/+17come on man, that's not true and you know it. it's a neoconservative tactic to repeat a lie until it becomes "truth," don't stoop to their level.
- nihilite, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6i like him more than zack.
and he rocks. what's your point, douche? - nblsavage, on 10/10/2007, -8/+13Sigh - "*ARE* knuckle-draggers"
- mikelieman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Freedom pisses of Left WingNuts?
Didn't your team toss someone into solitary for 1300 days when they weren't torturing them?
You're not in any position to use the word Freedom, and be taken seriously. - satanatnmtedu, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7And, when has this happened? Or, are you planning a little party for yourself and your young boyfriend?
- Error601, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8Grammar flames are lame but somehow funny when it's someone doing the brainless stereotyping thing that gets it.
- geekee, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7@dreamtiger
Quit talking out of your ass, you moron. - nicku, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7+1 because Nugent is a pussy draft dodging ***** talker. He has as much cred to his talk as Vanilla Ice has to the ghetto, maybe less.
- diamondg14, on 10/10/2007, -5/+9For the record I realize that reply really has nothing to do with said topic, but I am so sick of all political topics on digg leaning so far left.
