- StinkyTool, on 09/21/2009, -10/+344I thought we all agreed not to use "FAIL" anymore?
- dlan4327, on 09/21/2009, -23/+169It's funny because they have a story about a guy dying in a parachute incident & another story next to it about going skydiving.

- DoodleMaster, on 09/21/2009, -6/+53The page on the right doesn't look like it was originally intended to be inserted on with the page on the left....
notice how there is no crease on the left paper while there is on the right....and the color difference....

- valis, on 09/21/2009, -0/+27A major component of the "FAIL" meme is the assumption that the rest of us are idiots.
- giveer, on 09/21/2009, -1/+28Yeah I know, I've got the memo right here.. it's just that I forgot that ONE time, so..... it's not really a problem.
- h3110, on 09/21/2009, -0/+25ohhhhhh..... i get it now

- FROGMAN9, on 09/21/2009, -3/+22your guys comments are way funnier than the picture as a whole.

- D3PyroGS, on 09/21/2009, -0/+17
- adremali, on 09/21/2009, -0/+17hey remember when that other guy said that before you?
- ReasonableHuman, on 09/21/2009, -2/+18Sorry folks, but my 30 years in printing tells me it's real. You can notice the print control marks on the top verso (left ) page. If you look at the recto (right) page, you'll see two gray mark that mirror the two on the left. Those are either set-off from the left page or else bleeds (show-through) from the next page. Styles of the headers seem the same. Obviously the white word "FAIL" and the logo were overlayed on the digital photo of the spread. The crease follows left to right and looks natural. Could have taken more care to flatten the paper before shooting the picture! It looks like a local or regional paper where I would expect such an error to occur. Still, it is a bad error!
- OrangeTide, on 09/21/2009, -2/+17'shopped.
- 17999, on 09/21/2009, -0/+15It's not a parachute. It's an airfoil made solely of fabric and shaped somewhat like a parachute... paraglider is a bit of a misnomer. It's more glider than para. It relies on wind flowing over its surface to maintain its shape. Were it to "parachute" down, it would not maintain its shape well and it would collapse and fail.
Collapses are a big problem with paragliders and powered paragliders. I was flying over one (I in my hang glider) as he came in for a landing. The right 40% of his wing folded due to a bit of turbulence (some air was going up on his wing, some going down) and the rest basically folded up and he fell about 40 feet and bounced like a dead cat. He was okay. Guy in article... not so much.
There is an actual reserve parachute that the pilot carries, but it can't be deployed (hand thrown) below a couple hundred feet.
I know you were just being a wiseass... this missive is for people who aren't *****. - kooft, on 09/21/2009, -0/+14I don't think it had quite the impact they were shooting for.

- NeoKobeCity, on 09/21/2009, -0/+12Readership is going to plummet if they keep making gaffes like this.
- TeeBaagz, on 09/21/2009, -0/+11I feel sorry for that company. They probably hit rock bottom.
- Shedding, on 09/21/2009, -0/+11No *****.. How about also not using "EPIC"
- BossKey, on 09/21/2009, -1/+11The unfortunate layout probably had a dramatic impact on the paragliding company. I'll bet their signups plummeted.
