- 1911wolf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+46If there are Lions in your road, it's a sign that you're on the wrong motherfuggin road.
- Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+35In other news, PETA is confused as to whether or not they should firebomb the lions for killing another animal.
- GravyTrain6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+35you do realize that those animals at the zoo are called "wild animals" and that they do exist outside of those wonderful cages in other areas, don't you?
- mysticmcj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31...just another reminder that my house cats are just a few steps on the food chain away from eating me.
- shadekeiko, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26Great. Now I have "The Circle of Life" stuck in my head!
- glhex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13lol the best part about this is that it's a stock image. Who the hell is sitting around going, "You know what we need? A picture of some lions eating a giraffe in the middle of a road!"
- ScottMaximus1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14It's not sad at all
- donnikhan, on 10/12/2007, -18/+29tigga please
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Giraffes suck...they should have fire breathing abilities or something cool...
- Zinite, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10How does that make it inaccurate?

- rlh1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Man, some of you guys are so sensitive.

- jblade, on 10/12/2007, -8/+14With a little seasoning, I am sure it is delicious
- gardnmi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Roll up your windows PEOPLE! There are LIONS in the street.
- JohnnyHuh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I've never heard of lions taking a giraffe down, this is pretty amazing and more so that they decided to eat it in the road.
The only wild animals I saw when I was in South Africa were baboons, lots of them. And they have absolutely no fear of humans. Oh, and ostriches. Lots of ostriches. Lots of tasty, tasty ostriches. - Choppy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Yup, somebody had to get rid of that giant road block. One way or another.
- unpopulardude, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Did the lions just happen to get this giraffe on the road? Was it hit by a car first? Maybe the giraffe was clotheslined by an overhead phone or electric cable?
- PABeachBum, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Where can you see lions? Only in Kenya. Come to Kenya we've got Lions. Forget Norway!
- AnteChronos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7"How does that make it inaccurate?"
Because this is more than likely *not* the nastiest traffic jam EVER. - JohnnyHuh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5That's what I was thinking. I don't think the lions killed the giraffe but came across its carcass and said "Dinner!"
- ihavebeenseen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4honking and yelling out of your rolled down window at the traffic jam perpetrator will prob get you killed on this road just like an LA highway
- Vision2098, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4JESUS CHRIST IT'S A LION GET IN THE CAR
- ejectMedia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5wow, can you imagine hitting a giraffe with your car?
- phatmikey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think it's a little innacurate. That is clearly a road through a national park, not a busy highway. All those cars are full of tourists who are there to see the lions.
- Yazoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The most likely event is that the Giraffe was being chased by a lion, onto the road. It would have probably fallen down, due to it not having any grip on the road. It would not be hard for the lions to kill an animal in this state.
Remember, this is a GAME PARK, there are no power lines that are low enough to damage animals, there are slow speed limits, so people don't just hit giraffes. The giraffe isn't going to just stand there and watch as a car approaches it at 40km/h, then somehow hit and kill it. - aschocobo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3http://www.goyk.com/flash.asp?path=723
- Yazoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yes, these are they type of photos that cause people to ask me, a South African, whether there are wild animals running through out streets. It would help if there was a proper explanation on the photo, and your explanation is nothing short of misleading. You made this sound exactly like this is a general sort of event. People that do not know what is going on are going to assume that this is just normal, and it is those dumbasses that are the ones asking me if we are scared to go outside of my house in Joburg because of lions at night.
- squirrelza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yay, now all the foreigners can think South Africa has wild animals running on the freeways. Sure, we do!
- Yazoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Its a sign that you are most likely in the Kruger National Park.
- brownspank, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7PAW-ND
- StrawberryFrog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3If this is in a game park, which it probably is, then it's not a traffic jam per se, just a lot of people (tourists) stopped to gawp at the action. Seeing lions in a game park is lucky enough; but a good kill like that on the tarred road will get the tour guides on the phones to their colleagues supaquick.
Notice also that in the third car from the right, and in the leftmost car, there are big cameras pointing out. Yep, tourists.
It's not in sharp focus, but it looks like at least one car has white plates with blue writing ending in "GP" = Gauteng Province, meaning that it would have been taken in the Northern part of South Africa - plenty of game reserves there. - Yazoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You will not see this on a daily basis in South Africa, only if you live, and work in a game reserve or wildlife park. Like i said before, it is people like you who ask me if there are lions running around in my backyard.
- Ssj6Kirby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2God, road rage these days is getting worse and worse.
- wqwert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i read the title as "nastiest toe jam ever" and couldn't stop myself from clicking. I guess I'm a little disappointed.
- Zinite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Because this is more than likely *not* the nastiest traffic jam EVER."
The inaccurate tag is meant to label an article as inaccurate, not the title. Notice how when an article is flagged as being inaccurate it says something to the effect of "diggers have marked this _article_ as inaccurate." - Subliminalbits, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Lions can indeed take a giraffe down, but they have to be really desperate. It takes somewhere in the neighborhood of three to seven lions and several will likely to die in the attempt. They wear the giraffe down over several days. It might not look it, but one kick from a giraffe is all it takes to kill a lion, or pretty much whatever else might pester it for that matter.
- PrivateBob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3God, who left that LION there?
...It's not a lion, it's a giraffe
You may need to be from Belfast to get that one actually, damn our accents - Troopy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yer I think so, I think giraffes are too tall for their necks and faces to be attacked by the lions, which I believe is what big cats go for when bringing down Zebras and so on..
