- wreckosaurus, on 10/18/2007, -41/+302Note: Making abortion illegal would lead to this type of thing happening much more often
- tonicboy, on 10/18/2007, -5/+208While you're at it, blame the mother for getting pregnant. Blame the friends for helping murder the babies. Blame the parents for raising idiots. Blame the school for letting a teen mother who is due come to school in the first place. Blame their government for not educating their people properly. Blame Western imperialism for making a mess out of Africa. Plenty of blame to go around.
- Enochyang, on 10/22/2007, -9/+194Why are people so ***** retarded?!?
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -8/+185I'm guessing geometry wasn't on the syllabus at this school.
- leetleo, on 10/18/2007, -5/+168What's most unfortunate is that this girl will probably end up pregnant again in a few weeks.
- TheCosmicFool, on 10/18/2007, -12/+148Blame Canada!
- inactive, on 10/22/2007, -4/+129The kind of mother that doesn't want to be a mother obviously.
- inactive, on 10/22/2007, -3/+124How about you blame the woman? She is 19. More than old enough to be responsible for her actions. Why must you shift blame elsewhere?
- vault, on 10/18/2007, -7/+120What kind of mother does that?
- otatop, on 10/18/2007, -7/+74The real question is what the hell was a 19 year old doing in a class with 11th graders? Although trying to flush newborn children helps answer that question.
- GeneralFailure0, on 10/22/2007, -5/+70I'm pretty sure it's not acceptable to flush babies down the toilet in Africa, either.
- inactive, on 10/17/2007, -38/+95Sigh. How stupid can you get. I blame the teacher. How do you let a pregnant student and several other students rush to the bathroom and not do anything? A student even came back to the class and grabbed another student.
- izzybr, on 10/18/2007, -18/+66Didn't you ***** notice this came from sub-Saharan Africa. Everyone's acting like life there is the same as it is the 'Western' countries. They hardly even have doctors there
- zephc, on 10/17/2007, -3/+49a 19 year old high school student.
- Haohmaru, on 10/18/2007, -5/+47Oh Pulease! Don't be tryin to tell me ah can't flush mah baby down the drain! I need to be able to get mah freak on tonight!
*actual quote* - Wormfather, on 10/17/2007, -8/+46No, the kind of mother that doesnt want to be a mother and prefers the role of murderer.
- Vazelos, on 10/17/2007, -6/+42There are some ***** up retarded people out there that do not deserve to be in this planet. She is worse.
- griz, on 10/17/2007, -5/+40The word mother has no business anywhere near this story. ANYWHERE!!!!!
- heythisismyname, on 10/17/2007, -3/+37I almost read it as "Petoria"........... Peter Griffin's personal country
- vault, on 10/17/2007, -1/+33Being forced to go to school would explain why she flushed twins down the toilet?
- leetleo, on 10/18/2007, -1/+33On second thought, a solid holding cell should remedy this issue.
- wonderboy, on 10/18/2007, -3/+33So she goes through the entire pregnancy and doesn't just give them up for adoption?
- djvchris, on 10/17/2007, -18/+46I realize this is not a digg-friendly statement, but my concern is that we just read a fairly disturbing story about a woman murdering her two children and you see it as impetus to prevent banning that very thing. There seems to be a sense of pseudo-sympathy for mothers who (except in the 1% of all pregnancies that are the result of rape) knowingly have sex and then try to jump ship when the consequences come crying.
- inactive, on 10/17/2007, -1/+26Except when followed by "*****" !
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -13/+38A whore.
- FearAndLoathing, on 10/18/2007, -1/+24Wrong, sick, and completely preventable.
- izzybr, on 10/17/2007, -6/+27Dear *****,
The .za in the address means Zambia. Sub-Saharan Africa has about 1 doctor for every 30000 people. Shut the ***** up - JEWestbrookJR, on 10/17/2007, -5/+26Totally inaccurate story. Britney Spears' kids aren't twins.
- inactive, on 10/17/2007, -3/+24People in S.A. must be really underprivileged: 6 javascript errors on their page. Can't we send aid or something?
- Haohmaru, on 10/17/2007, -5/+24She's not a mother. Her body performed a remarkable biological function she knows nothing about and it produced off-spring. In her mind, no different than defecation.
- inactive, on 10/18/2007, -14/+33She had 4 months to get an abortion she picked a bad time to get cold feet.
- Jsmuli2, on 10/17/2007, -14/+33this is what happens when we try to teach abstinence only.
No info/education = stupidity - INHUMANITY, on 10/17/2007, -1/+20She gave birth to twins and with the assistance of her friends tried to FLUSH her ***** babies down the toilet.
Compassion? GFU! - STARTSOMETHING, on 10/17/2007, -0/+18Wow! Try putting that on a hallmark card.
- justinx0r, on 10/18/2007, -5/+23I like how everyone here is saying "ohhh it's in Africa" like it changes anything. It happened in South Africa which is the richest country in Africa. This girl is a ***** up person, I don't care what anyone here says.
- mrjit, on 10/18/2007, -3/+20I've had an abortion, and it's not an easy choice. But I'm of the mindset that a child should only be brought into supportive families. I was 19 and she was 18, we both had just started college. Sure, we could have looked into adoption, and should have, but we were young and stupid, hence the scenario happening. It was pretty traumatizing for us and destroyed our relationship, and it's not something you ever forget. I'm not even remotely religious, and could care less about any religions reproach, though.
- AzBats, on 10/17/2007, -12/+29Religious puritanism? Was she raped and therefore didn't want the kids but the social stigma of getting an abortion was so strong her parent wouldn't take her? Consider yourself reported for that offensive comment. Do you probably think what you posted was ok don't you?
- RogerT1, on 10/17/2007, -12/+28It's always best to teach children to swim at a young age.
- Acglaphotis, on 10/17/2007, -0/+16Sex
- Jwoey, on 10/17/2007, -1/+16ok, well... your point is well taken but .za is not Zambia, its South Africa. And using the same map you used to collect Zambia's figure.. its 1300:1 in south africa.
- RonBurgundy76, on 10/17/2007, -2/+16Meh... piss on both of you. :P
- inactive, on 10/17/2007, -0/+14no it's not...you can get pregnant right after you have a baby...all you need to do is ovulate again
- diggumup, on 10/17/2007, -1/+14There's only a few times I've said "What the *****" out loud. This is one of those times.
- sanman, on 10/17/2007, -1/+14Cmon, people! Listen to yourselves! Try not to forget what Digg is all about, OK?
Blame Bush. - justinx0r, on 10/17/2007, -2/+15It's in South Africa. I believe it's the richest country in Africa.
- Dhalgren, on 10/17/2007, -0/+13"we were young and stupid"
If my wife and I could make the decision at 17 and 18, I would think that 18 and 19 isn't too young either. We did an open adoption, our son is now 9 years old, and we see him at least every few months. We were too young to raise a child and his parents could not have children. A decision I definitely do not regret. - tb0n3r, on 10/17/2007, -5/+17There's more to government than just Federal. Are you saying that the local government shouldn't be providing education?
Ass. - tcpip4lyfe, on 10/17/2007, -1/+13"We cannot have pupils giving birth at school."
No *****.... - gthrank, on 10/22/2007, -0/+11Oh what crap. It's in Soweto - Baragwanath hospital is down the road. There are ample doctors in South Africa, and midwives too for maternity. This was not caused by lack of adequate healthcare. It was likely caused by this 19 year old being too scared to handle her pregnancy.
