- claybird, on 10/11/2007, -0/+36Looks like something right out of a Tim Burton film.
- SmackMyMac, on 10/11/2007, -1/+30It's like the whomping willow, but with claws.
- diveh, on 10/11/2007, -1/+29What a prick
- GCarden, on 10/11/2007, -2/+17I, for one, welcome...
Nevermind. - slackerxpc, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15Title should read "The biggest cactus you will ever see", or "The greatest cactus picture EVER!" in order to comply with digg norms.
- rnwen2750, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15You should probably see a doctor about that.
- whatthehoof, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16A tree hugger's worst nightmare.
- HabboX, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15I'm digging this because it's the only time I've seen the word "tendrils" used in a digg.com description!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12Now THAT'S a cactus.
- scubasteve11, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12Cthulhu?
- Niddik, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9"Get out, Jerald! The thing's closing in!"
- eightyd, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10That's no cactus... it's a space station!
- Leomarth, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I live in the Arizona desert, and we don't have quite that type of cactus. However, we do have the Saguaro cactus, which can live usually up to 100 years. On the drive home I see a cactus, which I think is near death, and it has about 15 arms on it; all curling into each other. The local natives consider the sacred and sometimes adorn them with charms. It's also a crime to kill one.
- reflex768, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Yeah it does. Even immobile as I know it to be, I wouldn't feel too comfortable with my back to it. You never know, might go triffid on me.
- bk3270, on 10/11/2007, -5/+11how long did that thing take to grow?...
- Urusai, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Monster Cactus is hungry...
- yingjai, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Lol. Can't help but think Balboa Park is named after Rocky, even though I doubt that's likely.
- Subterfug, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Nice dreadlocks.
- pdavda, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Its like something right out of Final Fantasy VIII

- TehChrisMeister, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I love Balboa Park, I go there almost every month, awesome place for wild life and plants! aaaah, I love living in San Diego...
- obendega, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3That cactus is amazing. I live right across from Balboa Park so I get to see it all the time.
It's really sad, you can't tell in this picture, but people carve all kindsa crap into that cactus and others in the park. Lame. - thrallie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I love living in San Diego
- rda52, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Balboa park is know for its wide variety of plants in it, and of course its more widely known for the Zoo
- gnalakalaciath5, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2http://digg.com/search?s=tendrils&submit=Search§ion=news&type=both&area=all&sort=old
oh, right... "I've seen"... well this comment is now completely useless. - arunforce, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Wow, does every comment need to be a lame attempt at a joke?
Now here is my "intelligent" post:
I think modern cactuses have evolved to a certain point where they don't resemble a tree. It's amazing that I never suspected that a cactus could grow into looking like a tree... - lorabora, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1why would you ever say "dun dat" and evolution in the same sentence? never mind in the same sentence, why would you ever say "dun dat"???
- BabaRamDass, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1If only it was a San Pedro. :D
- Hitchhiker90, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Size doesn't matter!
- manitoba98xp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You'll note that, out of those search results, this is the only one that got over 15 diggs.
- Jleagle, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I got a postcard once with a cactus that fell over and smahed right through a truck.
- weirdlookinguy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I live half an hour away from Balboa and I was just staring at this thing the other day. I thought it was some weird type of tree!
- CaviMike, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1beetlejuice BeetleJuice BEETLEJUICE
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1That is sad... i heard that people are no longer able to go up close to stonehenge for the same reason. People suck.
- cliffyboro, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Cue, 'Gonna Fly Now'
- manitoba98xp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Named after this fellow: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasco_N%C3%BA%C3%B1ez_de_Balboa
- Sphonix, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Damn, I was expecting something more like this:

- ackza, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I live near there. It's right next to a geodesic dome style Imax theater. It is also near another type of cacti, which when you blend up and filter into a bitter drink, and then drink it, goes really well with a nice imax movie :D!
- Namakemono, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The Flying Spaghetti Monster lives!
- robshoy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Mmm, that is a BIG cactus isn't it?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1That cactus really isn't that big compared to some others people would see if they actually went to deserts.
- sowdog, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Watch out! Tentacle rape! :O
- Magadass, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1--
- shaitanx, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Looks like something you'd see on WoW
- stranepiante, on 02/27/2008, -0/+0good idea this photo!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Man, i haven't seen ads on the net for a long time now... i wasn't even aware Flickr is loaded with them.
Ahh what a relief. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Yeah, I use adblock too, doesn't change the fact that Flickr ***** sucks.
- Wil9282, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0hmm what city, theres a balboa park in san francisco
