A metaphor walks into a a bar... - flippinjeremy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18Is this seriously an article on Digg?
- sato, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Most Digg users are barely out of 3rd grade. I'm surprised they need the refresher
- macaddct1984, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14What up my Digga?
- ChronicColonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9A kid walks in late for class. On the white board are two words; Ignorance and Indifference. The teacher tells the student he is late and asks the tardy student this question, "Can you give me the definition of the two words on the board?" The student says, "Don't know, don't care."
- evilTak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8We need more grammar-related articles on Digg. Next week: "There, they're, and their: what's the difference, and when should I use each?"
- spindrift, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Diggers? Fail English? Unpossible!
- Eryin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I learned english from that articles.
- FishPoisonCon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6uh.. shouldn't you have learned this already? ..and if you haven't, why are you here?
- jeffreym, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Al Legory was my high school gym teacher.
- AllenS, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7I'm not an addict, I can quit anytime...I just use it to get going in the morning sometimes...yeah...
- gharding, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Although allegory alleges ascendancy, alliteration arrogates awesome applause (assuming applicable avail).
- evilTak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Then I guess it's not helping.
- FishPoisonCon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2fair enough...but let me ask you this: If you think this is stupid why are you here? Seriously, you don't like the comment, so you waste your time to tell us in a comment of your own. Who is the hypocritical idiot now?
- EclipseGSX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"For fun, the next time someone corrects you and says 'That’s a simile, not a metaphor,' you can respond by letting them know that a simile is a type of metaphor"
Or, simply question why you socialize with people that would correct something so trite. - TimDigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1See I knew these
but if you could post the difference between an antonym, homonyn and a synonym ...I'd be much abliged(yes I know I could easily look it up.........jus sayin') - drmobutu, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Most of the Diggas are still in junior high school, and haven't started to study for their SATs yet...
- Kbennett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Half of America can't find their ass with a map, let alone remember and understand grammar rules. The more people who read or re-read something like this, the better.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Alirght, no offense, but if you didn't know the difference between these three things before you read this article you need to go back to school and think LONG and HARD about how idiotic you are.
- ChronicColonic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If your ass is big enough to require a map, I suggest you spend more time exercising and less time on Digg.
- YossarianDent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1grammar (n): The branch of linguistics that deals with syntax and morphology.
Metaphor, simile, and analogy are all literary terms; it's a question of vocabulary, not grammar. - themoose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Pretty sure that's already been front page of digg at least 3 times.
- foomojive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1what about aphorism?
- LogicBomB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Stay in school kids...
- jordan314, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why are you surprised? Compared with the lack of spelling, apostrophes and capitalization in most of the titles here, these are advanced concepts.
- BobbyMC, on 07/21/2008, -3/+3This is the only thing my school system seemed to think was important. It would be physically impossible for me to forget this stuff.
How'd it get the front page? Same way the wrong person will become president. The man is everywhere, altering our world. - Gm7Cadd9, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2What about allegory?
- drmobutu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Once upon a time, there was this guy, who liked to criticize people who thought differently from him. He would waste all his time on anonymous bulletin board systems, starting arguements about 9/11, leaving snarky comments and spamming about how great Ron Paul is...One day, after a couple of years of this, there was a knock on the door, and he was never heard from again...
- josegutz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1You sound like Seinfeld...
- manifestdata, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Better question is, if you think this is stupid why are you here? Trolling and flaming among your daily activities? Seriously, you don't like the article so you waste your time to tell us in a comment. Who is the idiot now?
- quomen, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4Thanks for the...3rd grade lesson again.
- Ender008, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Not to insult anyone, but how the did this make front page?
Although I guess it's good, most people remember thats something is "either a metaphor or simile" but can't remember or don't care which is which. I don't really care, it's all grammar... - JackBurden, on 10/12/2007, -19/+3I look like a crack addict. You are a crack addict. That is the difference between a simile and a metaphor.

What is Digg?
