- captinherb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+85From your link: "Police told the girl's parents they could probably avoid a fine if they agree to have the girl do community service."
Since when is against the law to piss yourself? If that's the case I've known a lot of drunk people that could be looking at some serious time. - Jaymoon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+75Since when is Pennsylvania in the south?
I'm going to assume that you have no clue on U.S. geography, nor how to spend 5 seconds looking at a map.

yup. - sicc, on 10/12/2007, -4/+76She's retarded, ya retard.
- tdp05, on 10/12/2007, -3/+58Seems worth knowing to me, if I were a parent in that district.

#1: the girls is a special needs student. clearly wetting oneself when confronted with a person you're afraid of is not normal behavior. She may have psychological conditions &/or physical ones (incontinence)
#2: the kids is a human being not an "it" you *****.
#3: the girl is special needs and is in a regular public school. As the parent of a special needs child with encopresis (google it if you don't know what it is) I can tell you that this kid wetting herself is definately protected as a medical condition. And the staff said they were at "their wits end". How unprofessional to say that. Maybe they need to admit they don't know wtf they are doing and put the kid ina school with teachers and staff who are trained in how to deal with special needs kids. If they are at "their wits end" I don't doubt for a minute that the girl is scared of the principle &/or the teachers.
#4: it is not illegal to have an accident.
$5: Please tell me how on earth anyone can prove it was done on purpose. I'd tell them to press charges just to see how they could even make a case. COmmunity service? Hell, the school is lucky if the mom doesn't sue them. - vadche, on 10/12/2007, -13/+49Digg me down
- zweben, on 10/12/2007, -0/+33^ Let me clear that up for you Strongbrau.
Best. - combatchuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29I've known people that have worked with mentally handicapped people for a long time. My mother worked with them for 12 years, in a one-on-one situation. She's told me of several times when her clients would use urine as a weapon. She learned her lesson after one time taking a client in the back seat of her own car and having to get the back seat steam cleaned after the client she was transporting pissed in the seat because they drove by a Mcdonald's without stopping for coffee.
I would bet a million dollars that the girl is autistic and has a hard time dealing with certain people telling her what to do. I can also bet, with 100% certainty, that the reason these people are getting pissed on is because they're treating her like a retard. She doesn't want to be treated like that. She can't retaliate to this humiliation by saying mean things, and she chooses to not be violent with them. She does something that she knows to be disgusting and rude, and pees. She may appear to be mentally handicapped, but I also know that's just an appearance. Inside her head, all of her thoughts and emotions are working perfectly fine, she just can't express them. If you were to live your life, trapped in your head, with people treating you like a retard day in and day out, I'm sure you'd piss on them too. - IQis87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+28http://www.wmur.com/education/10672233/detail.html

This is the full AP article that the parent post's link quoted from
"School officials [say] the girl has assaulted staff and uses urination as a 'weapon.'
Duckworth said the decision to call police was made in consultation with the girl's parents, in hopes it would improve her behavior. He said it appears the mother later regretted the decision.
Police Chief Eric Gill said school officials were at 'wit's end' with the girl, and that they believe her actions were deliberate." - TheWorm, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30Why is it that all these ***** stupid discipline incidents involving mentally handicapped people wetting themselves, or 4 year olds "innaproprately touching teachers chest" etc., happen in our education system?
- 1911wolf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+28If it were my child, I'd beat the ***** out of Principal Kevin Duckwork until he wet his pants. But that's just me...

"Oh...I just pissed myself." *drools*
"That's hot..." - Runawaygerbil, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23isn't wetting herself embarrassing enough? they have to put her through this *****. seriously, who the hell wants to be in the news because of this?
- PDAIsAOk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22public urination is illegal, but I guess in your pants in public is illegal too, according to those cops

*If a child behaves badly, you punish it.*
If the child is mentally disabled you don't punish "IT" for having an accident. Students don't fear teachers without a reason(hate them yes fear them no) You are showing just how much you don't know by treating a mentally disabled girl as an inanimate object. - alamandrax, on 10/12/2007, -11/+31you mean her pants?
sorry. couldn't resist. i'm a fool. :( - Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20I'm in PA, I've never considered myself a southerner. Maybe I could try harder y'all.

Mom Says Special Education Student Was Scared
DANVILLE, Pa. -- A 12-year-old special education student in Montour County, Pa., is charged with disorderly conduct.
Authorities said she deliberately wet her pants at school. Her mother disagrees.
The child's mother told the Press Enterprise it happened because her daughter was frightened by the principal.
Click here to find out more!
The girl had been preparing a holiday lunch with her classmates and teachers at Danville Middle School on Dec. 20. Her mother said when her daughter refused to go to the kitchen to wash some pots and pans, teachers summoned Principal Kevin Duckwork, who confronted the girl.
She then wet her pants.
Her mother said the girl is terrified of Duckwork and has wet herself during previous confrontations with him. But Danville Police Chief Eric Gill said school officials are at their "wit's end" with the girl, and they believe her actions were deliberate.
Police told the girl's parents they could probably avoid a fine if they agree to have the girl do community service. - sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18WTF????

Hmm...crappy bandwidth? Or moral issues? *shrug* - virtualball, on 10/12/2007, -4/+16If I had children in that district, of course I would like to know! Not only are these district athouraties crazy, but they are incensitive for a problem that a mentally-handicapped girl has! I'm not going too far as to say it is a habbit, but it is kinda like your teachers suing you for biting your nails... You can try to stop but it happens again. :(
- spriggig, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15Right...because punishing a child "makes" it behave better. Hopefully, this particular gene pool is drying up.

- IMustBeEmo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7So the news station apologizes for having a ***** server but the school charges a mentally challenged person for being... mentally challenged.
I say the news station starts teaching the idiots at the school. It's the staff that need to learn something. - fitchmicah, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12"Disorderly Conduct" laws can be applied in very unconstitutional ways. They, along with laws like Curfew or the local "Unruly Assembly" law we have here in Minneapolis enable law enforcement to act very broadly and without cause, because they don't need much cause to charge someone with these over-generalized toolbox laws.
Law enforcement in America, and probably elsewhere, are typically just huge /tools/ who are used to perpetuate an abusive power structure. - KidVicious, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8"If you live in upstate NY then PA is 'the south.'"
Uhh, no. No matter where you live, PA is still Mid-Atlantic. - calbff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I'm not sure where it originates from, but a disproportionate number of the stupidest and most obscene violations of common sense seem to occur within the education system.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Maybe they can't afford a special school. My sister is mentally disabled, but went to public schools because we couldn't afford to send her to a better one.
- combatchuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@teamgwho:
#1: I can guarantee that it was intentional. Every person who has worked with a severe autistic person, especially a child, gets peed on. It comes with the territory. When you make them angry, their first reaction is to either hit you or offend you. They don't have words, and they know that peeing is offensive.
#2: the kids is a human being not an "it" you *****.
I QUOTE THIS FOR TRUTH. The ONLY REASON these people are getting peed on is because they aren't treating her in the same way she sees the other children at her school being treated. They're treating her as "IT RETARD" instead of "SHE CHILD". I'd pee on them too.
#3: I don't agree that it was incontinence or a medical condition that caused the problem. However, I can't get to the article, so I don't know what exactly they said. My first thought is, honestly, that she's using pee as a weapon and that's 99% likely autism. I do agree that she is with the wrong teachers and quite possibly in the wrong environment entirely. But, after watching my mom work with autistic adults for over a decade, I've seen them hold steady jobs, have marriages and divorces, laugh and cry, and completely freak out. All things that normal people do. I don't see why they can't give this child the respect to either A) treat her like the children around her are being treated, or B) change the children around her.
#4: Again, I don't think it was an accident. I think the kid should have been sent home, and the parents told, and maybe offer a class sit-in with the parents or her worker, assuming she has one. The parents and workers would know the girl best, and could probably pinpoint in under a minute why these people are getting peed on.
$5: I think this would be laughed out of any court. The teachers are obviously ill-prepared to deal with this girl. - amoirae, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5They claimed to be at "wit's end." As they seem to be witless, they must not have had far to travel.
Incompetent bastards dealing with a petrified incontinent child. -
