Meet a Perhistoric Shark watch!
5min.com — Watch this freakish eel-like creatures are actually a species of prehistoric frill shark.
- 1050 diggs
- digg it
- Katrinasr, on 02/04/2008, -35/+3The resemble to George Bush is overwhelming
- nblsavage, on 02/04/2008, -1/+22I don't see it myself, this thing has a spine.
- unusualbob, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2and a brain
- nepawoods, on 02/04/2008, -1/+4It looks more like Yamuthers Bush.
- wizzpig1337, on 02/04/2008, -1/+5resemblance -.-
- badjoke, on 02/04/2008, -0/+5The resemble, huh?
- Emnsta, on 02/04/2008, -2/+5resemble is the verb
resemblance is the noun - DarkJesus, on 02/04/2008, -2/+6Katrinasr's thoughts: "Hmm...people don't like George Bush. If I make some out of the blue insult about him, maybe everyone will like me".
Except it was more likely in moron speak.
- nblsavage, on 02/04/2008, -1/+22I don't see it myself, this thing has a spine.
- lkmbrd, on 02/04/2008, -3/+56Submitted perspell-check.
- mygans, on 02/04/2008, -0/+13there is one shark in one history
- themastersb, on 02/04/2008, -0/+3I like perhistory creatures
- Braxo, on 02/04/2008, -1/+14The teeth and gills of the shark were interesting, and living in the Deep Sea must be a like living a nightmare.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 02/04/2008, -0/+18I think the gills were popping out so much because of the change of pressure it must have endured from going from 6000 feet to the surface. Maybe I'm wrong though. But I would imagine there would be some damage to the sharks body from doing something like that.
- Chompy, on 02/04/2008, -0/+7Well it *did* die, so yeah.
- CiXeL, on 02/04/2008, -1/+2when they collect deep sea fish and bring them to the surface they have to off gas them with a hypodermic needle as they ascend so they dont pop.
- Chompy, on 02/04/2008, -0/+7Well it *did* die, so yeah.

- Hipple, on 02/04/2008, -2/+126Good lord, even its teeth have teeth.
- civilizedevil, on 02/04/2008, -6/+12Are you talking about the shark or the British reporter who enunciates like she's chewing on marbles?
- Rawler, on 02/04/2008, -1/+3I thought you were joking.... then i watched the video.......
- Whippets, on 02/04/2008, -1/+1Yeah that is one ugly perhistoric animal. I think would should work more on prehistoric animals.
- Escamotage, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1would, should, could...
any other words you want to randomly throw into that sentence?
- Escamotage, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1would, should, could...
- ElAssoWipo, on 02/04/2008, -42/+14God damn these ***** idiots who keep killing RARE species for observation.
Giant squid found! And killed, for observation.
Rare frill shark found! And killed, for observation.- Sornos, on 02/04/2008, -3/+22It died of natural causes.
- ElAssoWipo, on 02/04/2008, -20/+5Yeah real natural, taken out of its habitat and put in a box. The fact that it was out of shape doesn't mean it would've died if they had just left it there.
- Zoids, on 02/04/2008, -3/+8It's a lot easier to observe something in a box than at a few thousand feet underwater.
- ElAssoWipo, on 02/04/2008, -2/+1It's also pointless when it's dead.
- Navicerts, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2It was obviously going to die anyway, you see the way it swam and its gills were all messed up because of the huge diffrence in pressure?
- Zoids, on 02/04/2008, -3/+8It's a lot easier to observe something in a box than at a few thousand feet underwater.
- ElAssoWipo, on 02/04/2008, -20/+5Yeah real natural, taken out of its habitat and put in a box. The fact that it was out of shape doesn't mean it would've died if they had just left it there.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 02/04/2008, -1/+41It usually lives 6000 feet under water. Chances are it was already going to die if it was that close to the surface. Deep see creatures don't just take a morning swim on the surface for nothing. It tends to be a pretty painful experience for them considering the change in pressure.
- ElAssoWipo, on 02/04/2008, -19/+2"Chances are it was already going to die if it was that close to the surface."
We'll never know now, will we?- TheTaoOfBill, on 02/04/2008, -1/+12It's not like they put a harpoon in it. They observed it and they tried to take it to a safe pressurized tank but it didn't make it. Just look at it. Does it not look sick to you? It looked very weak. They aren't supposed to be that close to the surface.
- ElAssoWipo, on 02/04/2008, -23/+3How would you know what it is supposed to look like?
Their intervention killed it, period. It could've been used for study, even if all it could tell us is that they die in shallow waters. Now it is used for nothing. We already have cadavers of this species.- CATSCEO, on 02/04/2008, -0/+13Will you shut up? It was going to die anyway, period.
- BigBallistix, on 02/04/2008, -2/+14600 metres. Lol at 6000 feet. Adapt you pagan, learn the metric system.
- Chompy, on 02/04/2008, -4/+2Imperial4Life!
- ElAssoWipo, on 02/04/2008, -19/+2"Chances are it was already going to die if it was that close to the surface."
- provost, on 02/04/2008, -1/+4the next thing that should be killed is the ability to have words said or read to you and not be able to comprehend them. No observations though.
- compoman, on 02/04/2008, -1/+5Did you watch the video? If you did you would blatantly see that it was all ready dieing. The non existent aura of a human doesn't kill an animal otherwise pets would not be possible. So think before you go on a tirade of ignorance.
- Sornos, on 02/04/2008, -3/+22It died of natural causes.
- jjustice, on 02/04/2008, -17/+11PREhistoric.
For goodness sake, can somebody *please* make digg into a wiki so I can fix this crap??- TheTaoOfBill, on 02/04/2008, -8/+12Does it really bug you THAT much? He got it right in the description so it was obviously just a typo. Does it really bug you that much that it's worth freaking out about?
- Roger, on 02/04/2008, -4/+10Don't ferak out dude.
- shit, on 02/04/2008, -5/+8Com down. It's OK.
- archiegaff, on 02/04/2008, -9/+8Will Digg once and for all examine the early digg history of these 5MIN submissions. I like to see what the community decides makes the FP, not what 5MIN spams to the FP. Whether its good vid or not - let the people decide.
- Cenobite, on 02/04/2008, -1/+14I dugg this because I found it interesting and I've never seen it before, and I couldn't care less about 5min.com.
- Frostman3D, on 02/04/2008, -4/+1That thing is freaky as hell, but it's still not as scary as a great white.
- Eslamicolt3, on 02/04/2008, -3/+3That was the worst written package I've ever heard on any news outlet.
- wheelzr, on 02/04/2008, -15/+1Yeah....evolution is just a theory. Its just fiction.
- nickkie72, on 02/04/2008, -2/+5The·o·ry: A set of statements or principles devised to explain a group of facts or phenomena, especially one that has been REPEATEDLY TESTED or is WIDELY ACCEPTED and can be used to make predictions about natural phenomena. Examples: Atomic Theory, Theory of Relativity, Plate tectonics, etc. Also, for clarification: The concept of a scientific law is closely related to the concept of a scientific theory. A scientific law attempts to describe an observation in nature while a scientific theory attempts to explain it.

- Dasmitch, on 02/04/2008, -9/+4I know a Japanese woman,
- dsully215, on 02/04/2008, -2/+34This video is perhistoric. It was already posted almost a year ago...
- 0011002, on 02/04/2008, -6/+1Geez just because you saw it once a long time ago doesn't mean there aren't any new users who haven't see it and people who have seen it before find it still interesting to be reminded of it a year later. Get over the "it's been here before"
- MarkusGarvey, on 02/04/2008, -1/+1year old news doesn't belong on the FP..there still too many good recent ones that that don't make it..
- jonnyeh, on 02/04/2008, -1/+3according to you? It's a democratic system, the people decide. If the people just want the same 3 videos everyday, then that's what they get. If you don't like it, there are hundreds of other sites that provide quality daily content.
- MarkusGarvey, on 02/04/2008, -1/+2in my humble opinion, if people want to see the same 3 videos everyday, they can go to You Tube...Digg is all about breaking news in all categories, ahead of the curve, from about the most diverse group of people in the world. The MSM pays close attention to what goes on here for a reason.

- 2BoSox, on 02/04/2008, -2/+1THANK YOU!! I was just going to say the same thing!
I had never seen this video, so I thought it was pretty cool.
What's up with the self-centered comments. Just because YOU'VE seen it, it shouldn't ever be posted again??
- MarkusGarvey, on 02/04/2008, -1/+1year old news doesn't belong on the FP..there still too many good recent ones that that don't make it..
- Whippets, on 02/04/2008, -4/+1Buried for misspelling perhistoric :(
- 0011002, on 02/04/2008, -6/+1Geez just because you saw it once a long time ago doesn't mean there aren't any new users who haven't see it and people who have seen it before find it still interesting to be reminded of it a year later. Get over the "it's been here before"
- FadieZ, on 02/04/2008, -4/+1That shark must've been doing some heavy lifting.
- acolonf6, on 02/04/2008, -1/+20So what the hell does it taste like?! Come on Japanese don't let me down...
- zeebo, on 02/04/2008, -0/+10They should eat it in the name of science!
- TokenWhiteGuy, on 02/04/2008, -1/+4Hell, they eat every other damn thing.
- unusualbob, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2simple: chicken
- zeebo, on 02/04/2008, -0/+10They should eat it in the name of science!
- brokenex, on 02/04/2008, -2/+6dugg for perhistory!
- Tyrghast, on 02/04/2008, -3/+31Gotta love the Japanese "Holy *****, I found something ***** weird!" "Sweet lets catch it!"
- diskit, on 02/04/2008, -2/+3And of course, it dies.
Typical really.
I bet they ate it afterwards. Or sold it on the black market for *****-loads of money.- jonnyeh, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1It's evolved to survive at 6000 feet below sea level. There was no way it was going to survive at shallow depths. We were just fortunate to observe it before it died.
- Sbebo, on 02/04/2008, -1/+3Meh, it seems that its kinda human nature to kill wonderful things.... http://www.breitbart.tv/?p=7627
"She says it was thrilling to see the animal, but a hundred more times exciting to be able to actually take it home."
- diskit, on 02/04/2008, -2/+3And of course, it dies.
- cawfee, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2Aw, it's smiling!
- bjs3171, on 02/04/2008, -1/+2how did that thing end up dead? I can't really have the volume up too high right now.
i KNOW they didn't kill it just so they can study its biology.- punkcat, on 02/04/2008, -1/+6they studied its Biology as well as its Mathematics. it apparently had several books of interest on it.
- murty, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1They moved it to some marine park thing and it died...
- Nanobe, on 02/04/2008, -0/+3They said it was in bad condition when they found it (and *way* out of its natural habitat). They tried to move it into captivity, and it died shortly thereafter.
- bjs3171, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1ah, ok. thanks.
- pinguwin, on 02/04/2008, -1/+4They are a deep water species, ballpark 600-1200 meters down, so for one to be at the surface, it's going to be a hurting unit. On the occasions that deepwater squid are seen at the surface, they're usually not in good shape either. Wonderful animal.
- Whippets, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1Well they had to kill it to eat it. Duhh!
- vagrantwade, on 02/04/2008, -0/+5i'm almost positive this video is really old. Unless last year they had another frill shark they put in captivity that died.
- k0vic, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1On January 21, 2007 a specimen was found alive off the coast of Japan near the Awashima Marine Park in Shizuoka, southwest of Tokyo. The shark was captured but, being in poor health, died shortly afterwards.[3]-wiki

- slimkevi, on 02/04/2008, -0/+13Look at those teeth! Darharharharhar... DARHARharharhar.... DARHARHARHARHARHAR
- rodgerdodger5, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1I do not envision him talking like this. I think that he probably talks with a very sophisticated lisp.
- ddubbs, on 02/04/2008, -1/+2that is one ugly fish
- Fuzi, on 02/04/2008, -0/+5http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frilled_shark

- bosks, on 02/04/2008, -3/+0You fail.
- FuZi0nDET, on 02/04/2008, -3/+1I think these things live really deep down in the ocean, off the coast of Japan they have some of the deepest places on earth. I think the thing was sick and later died. This thing is one creepy looking animal, I'd rather come face to face with a great white!
- jonnyeh, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2I wouldn't.
- surreal1111, on 02/04/2008, -7/+2typical.. wow so beautiful and rare.. let's put it in a aquarium and kill it..
- Hraes, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1RTFA.
- dansvan, on 02/04/2008, -3/+1Jaws Meets Jurassic Park SEQUEL?! They're making a new one?!?! The first one was CLASSIC.
- rjinswand, on 02/04/2008, -1/+2I vote we put it in a ring with a camel spider...
- rodgerdodger5, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1Mr. Splash Pants could kick his ass with one fin tied behind his back.
- RetardoCrisp, on 02/04/2008, -0/+5This IS old...posted months and months ago. It is still a cool shark nonetheless. Change in temp and pressure is what killed it but they are not sure why it came from the depths. Possibly looking for food or caught in a net and escaped. Sad..we know about 2% of our alien ocean and we never will at the rate we are destroying and polluting it.
- banido, on 02/04/2008, -2/+1Here fishy fishy fishy !
- fancyj, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1that thing gives the anglerfish a run for its money as the creepiest looking fish ever.

- minusxthexbear, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2HIYO!!
- diskit, on 02/04/2008, -0/+2"JAWS meets Jurassic Park sequel..."
Please don't give anyone any ideas. - RyVal, on 02/04/2008, -1/+2Frilled Sharks are rare (there are probably more than we think though deep down). It is well known that when they come to the surface it is to die. Capturing and studying it in captivation is of way more value than letting it swim away only to die a few days later.
- 0011002, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1I think you are being dugg down for making an intelligent comment =/ I dugg you up
- Dantemustdie94, on 02/04/2008, -1/+0Funny how its dead now
