- skybark, on 10/24/2008, -1/+769If they back up the truck maybe all the carts will go back in.
- jengo7, on 10/24/2008, -2/+601why is it the two guys fault? to me it looked like they were just trying to do their job then the idiot impatient driver tried leaving.
- mirot, on 10/24/2008, -2/+435we just saw the highlight of someone's career while working at Target
- 5fifteen, on 10/24/2008, -3/+424Can't fire them. Who else is gonna pick up all that *****.
- benroy, on 10/24/2008, -1/+272So that's why most shopping carts have a lame wheel...
- ImAtHome, on 10/24/2008, -1/+232Inertia is a bitch.
- scabbers, on 10/24/2008, -9/+228Driver fail.
- Squigy, on 10/24/2008, -1/+206At least they had a good laugh out of it...
I know I did. - Tr33fiddy, on 10/24/2008, -1/+155That's the kind of thinking that will get you headhunted by Target.
- inactive, on 10/24/2008, -15/+135A mexican.
- gllopc, on 10/24/2008, -2/+118Si.
- FrozenGonad, on 10/24/2008, -5/+118Title sucks.. They didn't "forget" to close the ***** truck. They watched as dick boy drove off..
- stukdog, on 10/24/2008, -1/+94Yeah, you know that blonde girl is the manager because she turned around with the annoying manager face that says, "Don't worry. I'm in charge here." Ugh.
- khandy, on 10/24/2008, -3/+92things could be worse. they could be working at wal-mart.
- phavn, on 10/24/2008, -1/+75That kind of thinking will get you promoted by Target
- sladek, on 10/24/2008, -2/+75The title is misleading, there is no ''Massive shopping cart'', like this one http://cache.jalopnik.com/assets/resources/2007/10 ...
- AllTooHuman, on 10/24/2008, -5/+74Who's to say it was their fault? It's possible they weren't finished loading the truck, and the driver, without notice, decided to simply pull away from the dock. When I worked in shipping & receiving (not at Target or Wal-Mart) this sort of thing happened all the time. The drivers are often impatient and want to hurry on to their next stop, and sometimes wont bother asking the warehouse people if they're finished loading/unloading. On one such occasion I witnessed a truck start to pull away while there was still a forklift in the trailer. These drivers are idiots.
- mwilkinson, on 10/24/2008, -9/+66wtf was the plan?
- JEWestbrookJR, on 10/24/2008, -0/+53I don't even understand why those two would be fired at all, or why they are "two morons"... They were innocent bystanders. It was all the driver's fault. I worked in a warehouse for boeing years ago and you wouldn't believe how many times drivers didn't break or tried to drive off.
- ayeroxor, on 10/24/2008, -2/+49*****. It's the driver's responsibility to make sure the load is secure before he takes off. I don't see how this could possibly be the fault of the guys on the video. It looks like the driver took off before he should have.
- inactive, on 10/24/2008, -2/+48Can't fire them because the truck driver is at fault.
- jwolcott, on 10/24/2008, -61/+103Uhm, wasn't it the truck drivers fault for moving before the back was closed?
If that was those two guys' fault, they would have immediately ran after that instead of just sitting there laughing because if no one was manning the truck and it moved forward by itself because it was "not secured" as the video description states, then that's the LEAST that could have happened. Imagine if a half-black, half-filipino blind baby with 1 arm and a third nipple had been crawling along in front of the truck...
*squish* - GoingPostal, on 10/24/2008, -0/+37The driver of the rig is ultimately responsible for his load. He should have made sure it was secure before he pulled out.
- SteelFrog, on 10/24/2008, -4/+39That's what she said.. I guess.
- sifeliz, on 10/24/2008, -1/+33Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys would go nuts!
- itsthemechanic, on 10/24/2008, -0/+30I am a truck driver, and the poster is correct. We need to secure the load before we pull away. In this case a cross bar would have kept all those shopping karts from falling out.
- inactive, on 10/24/2008, -1/+30He didn't check if they were done.
That's his entire job. Wait, check if they're done, leave. - CrushThemTorg, on 10/24/2008, -0/+28Ready. Set. Garry's Mod.
- DarkShroud, on 10/24/2008, -1/+29One of the quickest ways to get an employee to not care much about their jobs is a dick supervisor.
- ahoy, on 10/24/2008, -1/+26its pretty funny but it aint massive--that ***** takes about 5 minutes to fix.
- kingjaydub, on 10/24/2008, -3/+27I agree. I would have done the same thing they did... stood there and laughed, then quit before I had to pick all that crap up.
- eltardo, on 10/24/2008, -2/+25breaker 1-9, we got us a convoy!
- EATMETH, on 10/24/2008, -0/+22seems like lack of communication to me
- gyrfalcon, on 10/24/2008, -0/+22Why the hell are you calling the guys on the loading dock morons? Are they driving the truck???
Truck driver is responsible for making sure the load is secured and that the trailer gate is down before he leaves. - noahgelman, on 10/24/2008, -3/+24I have no idea how that's ironic.
I don't think ironic means the same to you as it does for me - inactive, on 10/24/2008, -1/+21You are Target.
- adammharvey, on 10/24/2008, -4/+23The moron there was the driver.
- Area51mafia, on 10/24/2008, -0/+19Inertia is a property of matter!
- strangewill, on 10/24/2008, -1/+20You shouldn't need to take a physics class to understand what is going on here, or to think you don't need to secure items in a truck.
- MalachiConstant, on 10/24/2008, -3/+22"Oh, ***** this. I quit. Have a fun time picking those up."
- jimminy, on 10/24/2008, -1/+20The driver is responsible for securing the cargo.
- Frayed_Knot, on 10/24/2008, -2/+20The description is wrong. Nobody forgot to close the doors. The trailer doesn't have a roll-up door. It has barn doors. You can't close those doors while the trailer is at the dock.
Also, you'll see there are trailers parked to the left and the right, so the driver would have to pull out to where he did before the doors could be closed.
It's still funny. - ncsifsf08, on 10/24/2008, -0/+18If you just move the slider to the left you can get all those carts back in in less than a second. No problem!
- Kornstalx, on 10/24/2008, -3/+21Most loading docks have a variety of safeguards (lights visible to the driver from the outside attached to the folding ramp, doorlocks, hitches that physically grab the trailer from underneath preventing drive-away, chocks, etc) that keep this exact thing from ever happening.
If the driver left early, he had a green light. And that meant the ramp was pulled and/or the light was in manual mode. Either way, this was most likely the fault of someone on the "inside".
Imagine that same thing happening, only a forklift is hurtled out.
This is a bleeding example of why OSHA is all over our asses constantly if you work in manufacturing/warehousing. Wheel Chock/Ramp Light violations can cost you your job, fast. - dwightfagen, on 10/24/2008, -1/+19and if we set them up on a series of cliffs, maybe they'll slinky down.
- sirbryan, on 10/24/2008, -1/+190:40 = "get back to work!"
- inactive, on 10/24/2008, -0/+17Either way, if you're driving a truck with ANY cargo you should check EVERY load personally before driving off – hell it'd drive me crazy if I didn't; the entire time I'd be thinking "I wonder if the load's secured"
- coderukus, on 10/24/2008, -1/+18If you watch closely at the beginning, when the dock worker stepped on the loading ramp it lowered to the closed position, as if someone had pulled the lever to retract the ramp. This would essentially give the driver the 'green light' to pull away from the dock. Watch the expression on the first dock worker, he looks confused as to why the ramp was lowered then the truck pulls away. It was essentially the fault of the dock workers, not the driver.
- PorchSong, on 10/24/2008, -0/+16So, the mystery of the ***** up wheels on every goddamn shopping cart I get is finally revealed.
