- dan.stryker, on 08/25/2009, -9/+100Is this why doctor's call it a "practice" ???
- stonewright, on 08/25/2009, -0/+86Stump appendicitis is a well-known but unusual complication following appendectomy. The appendix normally hangs off the cecum and can be quite long. If you don't divide the appendix right at the base, you can leave a couple cm of appendix behind that can then develop appendicitis some time in the future. I teach my residents to always make sure to be right on the cecum before firing the stapler, and I often even take part of the cecum along with the appendix just to be safe.
- dalittle, on 08/25/2009, -8/+78That is why you can sue someone for malpractice. And it has nothing to do with universal healthcare.
- LeviTheSmith, on 08/25/2009, -1/+60His doctors name is Nick Riviera
- SkippyDoorknob, on 08/25/2009, -0/+51The index.
- Harvester1, on 08/25/2009, -1/+49They would like to apologise IF he isn't happy with the treatment? He goes to the hospital for an appendectomy, theyh take out he-doesn't-know-what, has to go in a month later for another appendectomy--shoot, what's not to be happy about?
- DjBearPDX, on 08/25/2009, -0/+38Hi, everybody!
- inactive, on 08/25/2009, -3/+38No one said it could.
- Foxprowl, on 08/25/2009, -1/+34doctors*
- anonymousmedic, on 08/25/2009, -0/+32Really, no one explained this one to you? You still have to use protection for a month after the procedure, due to a potential for sperm to still remain.
- osteor10, on 08/25/2009, -0/+31Dr. Zoidberg: "take, i have two of them"
- PleaseJustDie, on 08/25/2009, -2/+33You not being able to get your girlfriend pregnant and your girlfriend not being able to get pregnant are not mutually inclusive.
Aka your girlfriend's a slut. - fmello, on 08/25/2009, -2/+28What the hell did they cut out of him the first time!?!?!
- Stradenko, on 08/25/2009, -0/+26This is good advice in any case.
- GamerXR72, on 08/25/2009, -0/+25Stonewright's post seems to be the only post with actual relevant information in all of the comments.
- almosttape, on 08/25/2009, -0/+23*sings* "The knee bone's connected to the...something. The something's connected to the...red thing. The red thing's connected to my...wrist watch."
- Rollic, on 08/25/2009, -7/+30I'm not sure if this is better or worse than a guy going to the hospital for a vasectomy and getting his girlfriend pregnant a month later - but it definitely makes me nervous about medical procedures.
- rnawky, on 08/25/2009, -2/+24His insurance company's funds.
- GamerSW, on 08/25/2009, -0/+21Inflammable means flammable?
- wrek, on 08/25/2009, -0/+21They tell you that you may still be fertile for a while after a vasectomy... they tell you to masturbate as much as possible for a month or so before intercourse.
- kyle212, on 08/25/2009, -2/+22He's only thinking about suing?! Sue you fool!
- archiesteel, on 08/25/2009, -0/+19Apparently the sarcasm tag was not big enough...
- johnomaz, on 08/25/2009, -4/+22"Mr Wattson said he was considering taking legal action against the hospital in order to gain compensation. He said that he was concerned surgeons may have removed another part of his body during the first operation. "
You have to consider a lawsuit!! dude, don't even worry about working, you have the makings of a multi-million lawsuit, and a jusitified one at that. - xathros, on 08/25/2009, -0/+18Reminds me of Dave Lister in Red Dwarf
- Scira, on 08/25/2009, -0/+18I knew better, but I wanted to think the appendix they removed later exploded.
- DestroyedAUS, on 08/25/2009, -2/+20"He said: "We are unable to comment on individual cases. However, we would like to apologise if Mr Wattson felt dissatisfied with the care he received at GWH."
Really? What a *****. - WB3000, on 08/25/2009, -0/+16Well it was clearly a routine appendix transplant.
- yurimxpxman, on 08/25/2009, -0/+15I had this procedure three months ago. They say, to be totally safe, wait 2-4 months before using your appendix afterward.
- newes, on 08/25/2009, -2/+16Who pays the medical bill dosn't affect how well the doctors perform.
- nardologix, on 08/25/2009, -5/+19Did you mean:
1. (These are)....the dangers of socialized medicine
2. (This is one of the dangers) of socialized medicine
You get some points for trying, but lose a bunch for being retarded. - DrDigg, on 08/25/2009, -0/+13Probably stump appendicitis. A little part of the appendix was left behind and it got inflamed. Unusual, but not unheard of.
Edit:@stonewright explains it better a few threads below - pervy_the_clown, on 08/25/2009, -4/+17This suit would be one of few legitimate malpractice suits of seen. This is what they exist for.
- zzzBrett, on 08/25/2009, -0/+12Exactly ^^^
My brother also had stump appendicitis a few months ago. When I did some research, I came up with an article that claimed there had been under fifty cases reported thus far (until 2007).
Lawyers didn't think a malpractice suit gains would outweigh the costs. - bigfootindy, on 08/25/2009, -0/+12I said left arm, not right! What kind of navigator can't tell left from right?
- inactive, on 08/25/2009, -2/+13that's what insurance companies do now, Bob. Jesus, you're not very good at this whole "educated debate" thing are you?
- caramba421, on 08/25/2009, -1/+11If this happened in America, they would have succeeded in the operation BOTH TIMES. And our wonderful insurance companies would make sure that he was an astronaut instead of a sport store employee. And they would make liver and onions taste like ice cream.
- LeviTheSmith, on 08/25/2009, -0/+10What I love about Digg ^^
there's always an expert on something here. - andreo, on 08/25/2009, -1/+11I've got news for you. Privately insured people get crappy service also.
Someone who sucks at their job continue to suck at their job no matter who is footing the bill, what country they are in, or what job it is. - reuscel, on 08/25/2009, -0/+10Did you go to Hollywood Upstairs Medical College too?
- ToddSchishler, on 08/25/2009, -2/+11"Sir, the second operation was a complete success. Unfortunately, during the first operation we accidentally removed your heart."
"You removed my wh--" beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep - bbbBobs, on 08/25/2009, -0/+9I had this procedure three months ago. They say, to be totally safe, wait 2-4 months afterward.
- wrek, on 08/25/2009, -0/+9Totally. I use this excuse all the time. :)
- stonewright, on 08/25/2009, -0/+9A post-op X-ray wouldn't show the appendix, as soft tissue doesn't show up on standard films. Post-op Xrays are typically just to look for any instruments or sponges left behind.
- polishmikeUSD, on 08/25/2009, -4/+13I would rather pay for one operation then get two for free.
- MonoDede, on 08/25/2009, -1/+9GET A BRAIN MORANS
lolololol - GamerXR72, on 08/25/2009, -0/+8If 4chan preformed that operation he would now be a hermaphrodite with a green face.
- clippclop, on 08/25/2009, -0/+8Um, no it isnt.
Do these guys have Microsoft PR and marketing teams or something? Surely the masters of FUD must be behind the campaign against NHS. - fxdbi, on 08/25/2009, -1/+9Both procedures were free, however.
- fatkraken, on 08/25/2009, -2/+9you mean Doctors not having to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in case a ***** up like this happens? yeah, works for me. If US doctors were so perfect, they wouldn't have to pay so much for malpractice protection.
