why is there an article about this... he got it... for a DAY.
Car reviewers get this and more. So what if a car blog got one. - mikestop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+40Yeah, so I got it for just one day. But it was better than a kick in the pants :)
- farfromsubtl, on 10/12/2007, -18/+51for a DAY?! Wow... that is what... like a $200 rental tops? Big deal! It's Aston Martin, and this is how much they spend on a publicity stunt? Lame.
- Stuntaneous, on 10/12/2007, -2/+37bit of a tease isnt it?
- kidendless, on 10/12/2007, -5/+38two chicks at the same time, man. i think if i had a million dollars for a day, i could hook that up.
- ChillHomie, on 10/12/2007, -6/+31@neoform
Good luck 'test driving' an Aston Martin for an entire day... - Jakyll, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22Just one day would have worked for me, but I would have chosen that day to be entirely on the German Autobahn.
- afex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20bitt3n:
clearly you haven't been to vegas - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -12/+30Indian Givers.
- LoungeActx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Yeah, seriously, it's $1,350 a day, and you only get 75 miles. For each mile over the 75, it's an additional $2.00. And these prices are for the low-end Aston Martin. This guy got the DB9.
I looked up how much it would cost to rent a Ferrari, and it's much more than that. - angusrobinson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18Seeing that he got one of only about 10 in the country.....then its a biggie. Kudos to Aston Martin - this is exactly the point. Embrace your fans in the blogosphere.
- seventoes, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18My life goal is to have a million dollars.
Yay! Oh wait.. - peterh40, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17Keyword: Everyone has already said that.
Keyword: A phrase is not a ***** word. - seattle98104, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15More like $2000 a day, if you can find one. There are only 10 in the guy's country.
- klawz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14http://www.dfweliteautorental.com/
and many more (this is what the prior posters are talking about, you can rent one) but it's a bit more than $200 a day, more like $1K a day. - ChillHomie, on 10/12/2007, -7/+19I'm not quite sure why these people are comparing having an Aston Martin for a day, to renting a Ford Taurus from Hertz. Having that car for a day is completely badass, I wish I could have done that.
- sinner0423, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14I suppose it's time for me to blog about how I need a million dollars.
- mbaguy4000, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14One of my life goals is to have the Victoria Secret models cater to my every need for a day...do they have a blog by any chance??

It was the pilgrims that gave and then took back. - Geekbeard, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16"Big deal! It's Aston Martin, and this is how much they spend on a publicity stunt?"
The reason is that Aston Martin = Ford. - bitt3n, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13wtf would you do with a million dollars you have to give back a day later?
- daofma, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9"think again!
rent one here: http://www.carefreelifestyle.com/car_info/Austin-Martin-DB9.html"
It hurts their credibility that they mispelled the make in the URL. - SpeedoBurrito, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11congratulations.
- seattle98104, on 10/12/2007, -17/+24and when was the last time you drove an aston martin ?
- blinks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Very cool, Mike. Congrats.
- cadavreexquis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Nonsense. He got the automotive equivalent of a one-night stand: no commitment, all the fun.
If he got to keep it, he'd have to insure it, put gas in it, maintain it, wash it... in other words, marry it. - cadavreexquis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Drive Another Day?
The Living Headlights?
License to Steer?
*ducks* - austindkelly, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10rent an AM DB9.... I really, really dont think so.

Dr. No Parking - briggale, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Ever the skeptics you lot are.
Mike got what he wanted, a bit of a dream come true, and Aston Martin got all you guys trying to hide your jealousy, instead of just saying, "well done!" - seattle98104, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5so we're saying it's not cool, impressive, that someone let him drive an aston martin that would cost upwards of 2k per 75 miles to rent for free?
damn nit pickers. - sphinx, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9For a day?!?! WTF
So if I mentioned that I wanted to marry Vida Gurerrera does that mean I can ***** her once and be done with it?
God I hope so! :P - plusque, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Actually, he wrote an article in a newspaper about it & then a blog post but congrats to you mike :)
- chandrab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Since I was a kid I wanted a Lotus Esprit. I lusted after them. Even owned the manuals for the car (but not the car). I made a promise that I'd buy that car some day.
Now almost I am almost 40...I buy a Lotus Esprit about a year ago. only 1 of 113 cars manufactured that year. I have it trucked to my house. I'm ear to ear smiles. Looks great, runs great even smells great (leather). As I am sitting in the car it then hits me...it's a just car. A really nice car, but I was no happier that day I recieved the car than the previous day. I was let down, but I learned a lesson about life from that car...that material things dont make you happy...I don't care if it's a Roll-Royce, Ferrari or a Aston Martin..at the end of the day it's still a car.
btw- I still have the Lotus Esprit. I'm not that crazy. - plsailboy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6http://www.duggmirror.com
- pauljaroszewski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4while it would be really nice for AM to give the guy a new car...the company is actually helping this guy get closer to his goal. as any of you who've had to work hard for anything in life will attest to, just getting the feel for something that you want serves to strenghten your desire to reach that goal. its like going to an open house for a home that you can't afford. im not tony robbins or anything, but if you are willing to do what it takes to get that Aston Martin, house, or whatever, you can do it. if this guy is serious and works hard, he will definitely make it.
- hansondr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5From the title I thought he was actually given the car but alas it was only for a day. Don't get me wrong it's still very cool, and how many people can say they've driven an Aston Martin, if only for a day. You have to wonder if they asked him to return it with a full tank of gas :P
- qasabah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Credit where it is due. He is only off by a factor of ten.
- richofsilence, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Getting to drive that for a day is like having a hot girl tickle your pickle for 5 min and then saying she has a headache and needs to leave.
=( - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4$1 million for a day = buying a ticket to Brazil and they'd never see me or their money ever again.
- Erez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3***** all you idiots.. thats pretty cool of them to do.. and i'm sure the dude is pretty happy as well..
- Mengoxon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2climb Kilimanjaro, write a book (RTFA)
- austindkelly, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I mean hello, do you have any idea how sweet it would be to drive an AM DB9, even if it was just for a day, you wouldnt need to write a blog post about how you wish you could bang famous chick of your choice, you could just go pick them up in your rediciously expensive outragiously fast one of a kind sports car, and then ***** them!
- Loftonian, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4What a tease... You'd think they'd be able to let him borrow it for at LEAST a week!
I wonder if they threw in a silenced PP7 and a vodka martini, shaken.... not stirred... - reevolutn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1with complimentary herpes
- statiktv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you all are mostly missing the point. this is not only a brilliant marketing stunt, but it also speaks positively to the brand of AM. if you read the article is states that they view everyone as a customer, regardless of income level. the rental is more like $1000 a day, but cash value doesn't matter. what does matter is that for little to no cost it created a big internet buzz and improved their brand image tremendously for those who saw this are more than just a "marketing ploy". they probably didn't initiate this stunt with the end result of "buzz" in mind (although that is the goal of well...every marketer on the planet), AM was more interested in maintaining loyal "virtual customers" who like the lotus dude, have wanted an AM since the day they saw/heard one purr down the street. sure, they probably wont do this again, or in the near future, or maybe they will. who knows.
i say, big ups to this writer, and i hope you enjoyed every gear shift of that sucker. - JuyLe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2He got owned, one day is not enough to play with an Aston Martin...
Hum.... My dream is to drive a Lamborghini Murcielago for 99 years... Mr lamborghini if you listen to me ! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3"My life goal is to have a million dollars."
Plug a bank firm in your blog and you might get it for a day! - elpayo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Make it a Alba/Simpson Jessica sandwich.
