- kimzor, on 10/12/2007, -9/+86The man was clearly in need of some medical attention and care. It makes me sad that one human being felt it necessary to end their own life and sick to the stomach that the police beat him to death right after his failed suicide attempt.
In cases like this people should offering their support and love, not lashing out a beating. Animals. - OneAMCoffee, on 10/12/2007, -19/+82Why can we never see such swift arrests of police who do similar, or equally devastating charges, in the United States? Police just don't seem to be held liable for their actions here...
- jimmiss, on 10/12/2007, -5/+42It is assumed by the justice system that cops never lie, cheat, steal, and ALWAYS do whats right. It is also assumed that they never abuse their power. Every year laws are passed to give cops more power and less oversight.
- scoreloot, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25I feel for you and your future with an attitude like that. I think you should take a long hard look at why you would place so little value on human life, or any life for that matter.
- aliengoods, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22I'm not sure about justice, but irony was served, and if I may add quite effectively.
- sonochamp, on 10/12/2007, -5/+22....and hilarity ensues.
- aliengoods, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12You should see what his deductible was.
- cryemoxkidcry, on 10/12/2007, -7/+18I guess it worked out for him.
- rbanffy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11@broomett,
While I agree with you on this, police officers should be held to more stringent standards than civilians, as we entrust them with even the use of lethal force against our fellow citizens to protect society and uphold the law. - toMatto, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16"Man Who Attempts Suicide is Beaten to Death by Police."
I'd like to say justice is served, but something about it just confounds me. - punchingjudy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Alanis? This is irony.
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Thank you, when can I leave?
- idonthack, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Like ray-heee-ain on your wedding day.
- unicornhunter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I betcha he won't ever try THAT again!
- spartan777, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9welcome to the Mexican justice system!
- basebaII, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The tigers could become ill and it is a common known fact that tiger-safe Pepto Bismol has been discontinued.

Because this is the interweb.. and since there are no pictures/postings on youtube, it couldn't have possibly happened, right?
I do agree though, the level of callousness here is pretty sad. - 3dom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Reminded me of the medieval punishment for attempted suicide: death by hanging. Try as I might, I can't quite figure out the logic in that one.
- ABadInAlbany, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@NightBlade40: it's rather ironic that MajinZero's own link provided grounds to correct him when in fact he was attempting to correct someone else. Yet again, irony in a fallacious attempt by a digger to correct another digger on the use of the term "irony." Human folly at its best. When are the children going to get over this idiocy already? It has grown tiresome.
- inactive, on 12/26/2008, -1/+6It's a truck you silly Briton :]
- sychodelix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I've been in Mexico several times, and heard plenty of first hand horror stories about the "policia" there. Basically, the vast majority of them are crooked. It's a very scary thing to get arrested for ANY reason in Mexico, because your life is in severe danger. Or at least you could get thrown in an adobe, barred hole in the ground and forgot about.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7still waiting for it
- nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5we? I'm not a Mexican cop, but ok.
- Holosiren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4In other words, he succeeded.
- NightBlade40, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@MaijinZero
It is irony, the fifth definition in your link would apply here. - Dustyb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Lets all assume here that the man was poor or at least had little income. His truck was probably his whole entire well-being. I do not claim to know a lot about the entire sate of how people are in Mexico but lets just say that it's as bad as most people think it is. After his truck is stolen he probably won't get it back, and now he has no way to make money, it sounds sad but the man was probably thinking there was no reason left for him to live. He probably thought that he may have no reason to live.
- woz_fraggle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@cbergeron
let's hope no-one in your family ever suffers from severe depression you judgemental prick - V1ncent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3No... he wanted to be hit by a train, not bludgeoned like a baby seal by cops.
- Domza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well, talk about having your chickens come home to roost.
- TheMadCow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3And this took place in Mexico and we're surprised because?......
- rogerjones, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4actually, its WIN-WIN-WIN
- dinkumator, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7if you read the article you'd see he was a truck driver. and his truck had just been stolen. he probably had no way to continue working. how does that make him stupid? its idiots like you that make the rest of us look bad
- everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i hate to make light of this buuut...
he asked for it
:-D - inarguable, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3ah, poetic justice....
- ZippidyDoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Not surprising. The ONLY reason this made it to news is because it was in Mexico City.
- Gatesophile, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9completely uncalled for, racist douchebag.
- chaosmachine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2but who would have thought? it figures..
- mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nevah!
- DropZone01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So what's the problem. He wanted to die, and now he's dead. At least now he can go to heaven because he didn't kill himself, someone else did it for him.
- flamesoftheend, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1irony at its finest
- Seth024, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So were they punishing or helping him??
Sorry, it's not funny... - tomi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, at least his family and friends don't have to say he suicided. Now they can say the cops beat him!
- xDMCx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1George Bush: Mission accomplished!
- tyho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you are of the opinion that the contemplation of suicide is sufficient evidence of a poetic nature, do not forget that actions speak louder than words.
- haveacigar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Its what he would have wanted...
- kb0x, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The moral of the story is: It all works out in the end.
- atbnet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I hope you are enrolled in law school!
You'll be an excellent scum bag... I mean lawyer one day - wipis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The reason you don't see such swift action in the US is because it's important that the situation is evaluated carefully. If you lock up every cop that goes just a little overboard, not to say that this wasn't way overboard, police will become completely afraid to use force. I hate to use the term but arresting police for the use of force could become a 'slippery slope'.
- Derrekito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So the guy got what he wanted in the end? Bad outcome? Sigh, seriously though this is very sad. Over here where I live, we are very fearful of the Mexican Police and for good reason.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1some of them *literally* assign to jobs for the express purpose of beating people.
how retarded have you to be to make it a job beating people.
at least not all cops are insane. -
