- MavRevMatt, on 10/10/2007, -1/+108What, you think that the MPAA/RIAA don't want money?
And as usual, ***** the MPAA. - MasterThief117, on 10/10/2007, -1/+78ter·ror·ist (tĕr'ər-ĭst) n. An individual and/or organization who uses violence, terror, and/or intimidation to achieve a result. Sound familiar? The RIAA are a bunch of terrorists.
- ViRaZ, on 10/10/2007, -4/+77Money Pilfering Agonizing *****
- iomegaboy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+72Sounds like they lost their firstborn child. Can't think of many things that can't be defined with money outside of human life.
- tehbored, on 10/10/2007, -1/+65Just when you thought they couldn't stoop lower. So what, are they going to claim that sharing movies causes some sort of "psychological trauma" to filthy rich executives?
- MillionsLivio, on 10/10/2007, -0/+45Simply more whining because they cannot keep up with the times. I hate the movie theatre experience these days: whining kids, cell phones, jackasses, people that eat too loud, those that laugh at things that are clearly not funny, the horrid prices and those that talk to the screen while the entire audience wants to kill them. Create an ad supported system where people can download movies legally and not only will you gain more profit but illegal movie sharing will decrease slowly back to the "tech savvy" crowd. Bittorent and such are becoming semi-familiar with the average user and making it easier for them will take away the stress and strain due to their lack of understanding. Not only that, but most movies coming out these days are utter crap. It is not "file sharing" that is hurting ticket sales, it is the horrid selection of choice we are given, along with the previously stated. Give us better quality all the way around and things will flourish once again. Nonetheless, ***** the MPAA.
- joeflynn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+30It should be a crime to make movies like House of wax(2005). That is the real crime!.
- Tivor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+25As much as I'm opposed to piracy and illegal downloading, tactics such as these make me go, "wow, nice job shooting yourself in the foot, MPAA."
Instead of spending money on lawyers and DRM engineers, they ought to be focusing on streamlining their online distribution channel. All MPAA is doing now is creating a whole generation of future consumers who will have grown up hating them. That's not a very good long-term business strategy. - cactus476, on 10/10/2007, -1/+25Strangely enough, PeerGuardian's updater popped up when I opened this article.
- DJCult, on 10/10/2007, -0/+24I'm going straight to hell for chuckling.
- Eddible, on 10/10/2007, -0/+24Please, no more Mastercard jokes. I beg you.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17I am not responsible for their failed business model.
- Ajajadude, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17I for one am tired of shelling out about $10 for 90 minutes worth of crap.
I don't actively download movies, but I sure as hell rarely ever go see a flick at the theaters these days. It's not worth the hassle, the headache, and the hit to the wallet. - eyebits, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17FTA: movies= ‘Hide and Seek’, ‘House of Wax’ and ‘Robots’...
IMDB - Hide and Seek, 5.5 stars (out of 10), I never heard of it. House of Wax, 5.4 stars (out of 10), I think I saw an ad for it on TV, but that's about it. Robots, 5.4 stars (out of 10), I couldn't stand to watch the whole thing. If there was any "irreperable injury" it was self-inflicted. The movie studios should seek damages from their writers, directors and producers first for creating lousy movies. People who saw these movies should sue for receiving defective products. - fkr3, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16Human life has a dollar value. Check eBay China or just look at your life insurance policy.
- Eddible, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Especially bridges that have lots of kittens underneath them.
- Eddible, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14You get the first comment and you write something completely incomprehensible? What?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Yeah, the MPAA should PAY the uploader for spreading such utter ***** for them!
- maisteri, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12Impeach MPAA !
- oneoverzero, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10What health problem costs $1,000,000,000 to fix? Is it a disease where each organ must be replaced by hundreds of miniature, fully functional, $100 bill origami organs, all working tandem to create the same effect?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I'm responsible for 3 bridges collapsing this morning alone!
- TechCF, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Movie ticket is $14 - That's why I download
DVD is $44 at release - That's why I download
Norwegian prices - oneoverzero, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8(early) Movie piracy causes the biggest psychological trauma: It makes the movie get widespread reviews before it comes out, meaning they can't make cheap-***** movies and get away with it.
The opposite of this is what happened with The Simpsons. - oneoverzero, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Unfortunately, it's down to the court to tell the MPAA/RIAA/Whoever that they can make money off of this. Every time there has been a new way to record media, the companies that owned that media has flipped *****, and every time, it has made them more money than they ever had before. It happened with the VCR, they said that someone being able to record their movies would cripple the movie industry. It happened with the Jukebox, they said that nobody would need to buy the CDs anymore. Hell, it happened with the ***** player piano. Sheetmusic industry said that nobody would need to buy the music.
Technology doesn't cripple media, it has, and always will, make the owners obscenely rich.
If only they realized that they could use this for their benefit. - WoollyMittens, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7By your definition the US government is too. ... oh *****.... wait...
- mablco, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7you dont download anything for free? Wow, youre stupid.
- ahhell, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Shove your "holier than thou" ***** up your ass.
If you were trying to make a joke, you failed miserably. - stingerau, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6MPAA Are doing what the article says - trying to blow everything out of proportion and to make an example so that people stop sharing movies, will this work ? Most likely not like all the other failed attempts.
- gubatron2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6When will they understand the only piracy that's harming them is the one on the streets, where they actually get people to buy dvds and make money off of it. I've seen people in latin america buy cars, apartment and afford many luxuries out of movie piracy network.
MPAA is so clueless - Dralite, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Did anyone see what the 3 movies were? ‘Hide and Seek’, ‘House of Wax’ and ‘Robots’
I didn't care when i read the headline, But knowing it's these three movies made me care even less - tubeblender, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5logged in to digg you down you stupid religious bitch. go pray to your invisible god that you have to sit-stand-kneel-stand-kneel-sit-bend-over-suck-my-*****-to-get-into-your-heaven-that-doesn't-exist.
in case you are not religious, just a stupid ***** sucker, i apologize in advance, but you weren't funny.
at all.
The MPAA and the RIAA are more like religious zealots on some sort of inquisition-like fantasy mission, ok and that's not even funny. - oojamaflip2006, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Atheist goats who walk over a theist troll's bridge. which collapses killing hundreds of kittens.
- oneoverzero, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Most movies at theatres cost the same.
In fact, I have never been to a theatre that had different prices for different movies - TechCF, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Yes, they should. No one would know of the movie if it wasn't for the mighty pirates
- AttackingHobo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4The extra weight of the downloaded movies running through the tubes is just too much for the bridge!!!!
Next time you download a movie, think of the kids!!!! - gwhardyiv, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4There should be a parallel to Godwin's Law involving comparing someone to terrorists. We'll call it the Axiom of Evil.
- Misanthropica, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Are they trying to claim that downloading killed box office revenue. What *****, they just want a scape goat for making dogs like House of Wax.
House of Wax
Domestic Total Gross: $32,064,800
Production Budget: $40 million
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=houseofwax.htm - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4i rather kill the person who goes pro MPAA or RIAA. thats blasphemy.
- MavRevMatt, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5They're still both greedy *****.
Nice analogy though. - ThndrShk2k, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3At least us youngest are worth almost as much as the oldest. Less mistakes to be made ourselves :D
- DarkPrincess74, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Oh god...won't someone please think the of the children!
- m0tbaillie, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4***** the MPAA!
You know what they should get? ***** shot, is what, for being such irritating, insufferable buttplugs. - teaBagger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3+2 Diggs If I could for the title alone
- geekee, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Wow, you're stupid.
- ThreeDee912, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2"They know their time is very limited and not worried about the future."
Exactly. They should worry about the future, not just the present. - chrisc262, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2i completely agree -
people that download the movies were never going to pay anyway, but people who sell bootleg copies are taking money that would have actually been spent on the movie legitimately. - tankko, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Hate to disappoint, but this is standard legal language. You'll see it in every lawsuit and most contracts. Despite MPAA and RIAA BS, there is nothing to see here.
