- theotherme, on 10/12/2007, -3/+71I doubt Italy would stand aside and let anyone invade Vatican City.
- jasnmb, on 10/12/2007, -5/+68and the U.S. is responsible for defending three of those
- skored, on 10/12/2007, -2/+64It's strange my plans for Christmas this year did involve invading Liechtenstein - thanks for the reassurance!
- mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -2/+60Godzilla, 100,000 anime-loving ninjas and every Pokemon in existence...
- majordannyboy, on 10/12/2007, -7/+64"Japan-Only has self-defence forces which only engage in peacekeeping operations and in internal conflicts."
Is assisting the US in invading Iraq considered self-defense or Peacekeeping operations? - drewpost, on 10/12/2007, -2/+44Does anyone else find it humorous that the description is "if your plans for Christmas include invading a small country"??? lol
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+48Glad to be of help. We don't see enough people invading countries nowadays. Oh wait we do, but now they call it "humanitarian relief" or "looking for weapons of mass destruction"...
- bash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+34Japan itself?
There's a reason why they're called the "Japan Self-Defense Forces". - masamunecyrus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+32I'd recommend Sealand.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sealand
Be warned, however, as they DID successfully fight off one pirate invasion.
:-) - ulyssesyt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19i wish all countries were on the list.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19And the time traveler from Heroes.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15Pff.....inaccurate.
The article says that Japan has only peacekeeping forces, when we all very well know they have a very large standing army of gigantic robots and cyber-enhanced schoolgirls - jaydj, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Australia's only Iraq war casualty shot himself by accident

*cough cough* - halavais, on 10/12/2007, -6/+16"Is assisting the US in invading Iraq considered self-defense or Peacekeeping operations?"
Yes. In the first invasion, they only did mine-sweeping operations. They have taken on a greater "policing" role more recently--but this wasn't too popular with the Japanese public.
The SDF may be a self-defense force in name, but it is one of the best funded militaries in the world, and Japan could go nuclear in a matter of months if she chose to (and hasn't already). - zydehkim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Last summer I traveled through Liechtenstein while crossing over from Austria to Switzerland, and trust me, it isn't worth invading.
- adoggz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12bah what's in a name? the US could change the name of the Army to "Fluffy pillowy bunnies of love with water guns and sleepover parties", doesn't mean they aren't still the army.
- RadiatedAnt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I'd like to see someone invading Haiti...
- cvindustries, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Uh, I've been to the Vatican, and I wondered off the beaten path and found a Swiss soldier pointing a gun at me. Don't think YOU can topple the Vatican yourself. It takes a schizm at the least!
- jaycliche, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9"I got dibbs on Monaco. France is defending them. HAHA! that will be a 5 min invasion."
That joke is seriously tired...Really, make up your own jokes. - victorp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Quebec is only a nation like any aboriginal tribes(Iriquois, Algonquin, etc) in Canada, it is not a seperate state. Basically all Canada did was say yes Quebequois(sp?) are a nation within Canada. Nation = Ethnicity, State = Country.
- TheWorm, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10And they're better off.
- kingcam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I love how they got rid of their armed forces once artillery was invented.... Too hard to defend a country when the enemy can shoot right across it :P
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Canada's peacekeeping tradition went out the window in Afghanistan as well.
- jeet404, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4*zing* I am sorry but that's what you get for being cocky! BTW invading most of those countries is not recommended.
- jammink, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8I always wanted a small palace in Nauru
- jaycliche, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6"Who's going to protect Japan when China decides to conquer them?"
They are too economically linked now. Would you invade the cheapest grocery store on your block? Japan wars economically....got big during the cold war when you couldn't outright declare war for fear of getting nuked. You get your proxy army to fight your enemy's proxy army. A war between Japan and China would look more to the casual observer as a war, say between Japanese economically dominated Peru and maybe Chinese backed Chile. Or remember allegations of Clinton financed by a supposed Chinese interest, at the same time the Republicans being financed by Japan? That's how that war would look. - zhulien, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8I hear the US is getting a lot of ex-armed forces and ex-legged forces returning from Iraq?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Someone with a lot of spare time could improve the page with an additional helpful column in the table which gives the SIZE of each of those countries. I mean virtually all of them are tiny states.
When I'm planning my annual Chistmas invasions, I like to gain control of the largest states - I don't want to waste valuable time researching each 'country'.
Otherwise an excellent list for any budding invaders! - bmson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4You could attack Iceland with a bread knife :P
Icelandic police officers don't carry guns.
78 year old American woman has more arms in here purse than the Icelandic nation.
And I'm really proud of that.
We don't have any enemies :) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm surprised that Switzerland, most famous for neutrality, would not be on that list and thus, be maintaining some sort of armed force.
- directedition, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7So.... should Quebec be on this list now?
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Tuvalu's not going to work - the island is slowly disappearing. In "How To Start Your Own Country," a representative from the UN told Danny Wallace that they are preparing for a possible future where Tuvalu could exist as a country which has no land.
Saint Kitts and Nevis might be a good target, though. Close to home, nice weather, not too tough... - blackjack75, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"We don't have any enemies :)"
That's what you think while the polar bears and the penguins are planning their attack from the north.
That said, congratulations. I live in Switzerland which isn't supposed to have that many ennemies either and we waste billions buying warplanes that cannot even fly in circles on the territory (because it's too small, we have to ask our neighbours for some room while manoeuvering... how pathetic). - bmson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3By the way.
Iceland is the only country that has won the Royal British navy :P
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cod_War
But we are invading both England and Denmark.
Buying every single single store in the country and one day, when you wake up... it will be Iceland Kingdom...
Mark my word... - Asianwaste, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Actually it was Switz's defense that prevented it from being a ski resort for the Nazis. Their ability to properly defend their country (paired with the lack of tactical resources) made the country not worth the effort or more so the man power projected to be lost.
- Lynxpro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4
Watch out...some of those islands could be invaded by the Church of Scientology and their powerful naval fleet known as the "Sea Org".
(sarcasm) - EllasIsKing, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Im sure its not about the oil. I bet a lot of those small countries possess weapons of mass destruction.
- moonhead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Doesn't Switzerland have national service for all 18 year olds?
- jaycliche, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Why isn't Iraq on that list? Don't really think that you could say that a uniformed functional and operational domestic army really exists since "Mission Accomplished". Don't think death squads count.
- Enterprise8875, on 10/12/2007, -5/+75 min? All you have to do is declare war on France and they will not only give up Monaco but surrender themselves. :-)
- Vabbi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I'm on St.Kitts.....and yes...please invade, this place needs a fresh start!
- Norseman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4China has 100 patrol boats, 25 amphibious ships, and 2643 jets. Japan has 15 submarines, 51 destroyers, and 697 modern jets. If they went to war, I could see the Chinese airforce gaining the upper hand, but landing an army would be very difficult, especially since those 15 submarines would be pretty hard to track down. Even if all 25 landing craft weren't destroyed, they'd have to transport extremely small numbers of soldiers, who would have to wait around and get slaughtered while the ships go back for reinforcements. China may have a large army, but they really have no way to mobilize it.
- cheez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2my plans for channuka involve invading a small country... i feel left out
- ulyssesyt, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5nice one.
- kuzotz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah in Switzerland you are expected to be able to handle a gun from age 18-60. I think. If you are a swiss citizen, and a male. You pretty mmuch are also enlisted in their armed forces for the rest of your adult life. Their system works well for them. Seeing that they're a democratic-Socialistic country... WEll most first world countries are for that matter. ITs like the US's national Guard system. Except they don't get sent into combat unless their country is in danger of being taken over.
- ragipy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Now I knoe what I can use that USB controlled missiles
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2be quick arm dealers, sell them some.
big buck!
new market!
hello sir!1
thank you sir!1 - Barnonski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1So, here's the plan: The United States takes over every one of these small militariless countries offering them military protection from other would-be invaders, while at the same time shifting all of our current outsourcing to these countries. This way, all of the outsourcing revenue that is going to current countries will come back to the US, and the people in these militariless countries will still be paid higher wages than they are now. Everybody wins! Sweet, Vote Barron for President!
- StevePB07, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sounds like a fun trip next summer. How's law enforcement in these countries? Kidding. But yeah, I guess as long as countries such as the US and others will take some responsibility, there's really no need to set up a national military. Hopefully, taxes are better due to the lack of military budget needs...
- Lane, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you could try the Marshall Islands, be warned though it was the US's nuclear playground for about two decades. he USA tested 67 nuclear weapons in the Marshall Islands but hey your going to get your own private island to achieve that healthy glow anyways right?
