- suprfli, on 03/29/2009, -3/+95I've been a guest at Google and I'm not trying to take anything away from it but it's really not all that great. That being said, it's probably better than offices where other people work but let's be honest, the reason they have a laundry room is so you can do your laundry WHILE AT WORK, the reason they have free food is so you can stay at your job and eat WHILE AT WORK, the reason they have buses and transportation is...you guessed it...so you can get to work and stay there. You can multiply that by most of the other services and activities they have there(volleyball in the main area). If Google had all of these things so that you could just hang out and ***** around it wouldn't make much sense. There's a business reason behind it and you're naive if you don't understand that. The cooler you make the place where people work the longer they want to stay there, the happier they are and the more work they are inclined to do.
- kavery, on 03/29/2009, -0/+60SPOILERS:
Two pictures of seven dudes riding some weird bicycle
Two pictures of a volleyball court
A picture of a bronzed skeleton of a T-Rex
A laundry room
The world seemingly exploding
A replica of an experimental spacecraft
Exactly what any of that had to do with actual work, I do not know. - ghounds07, on 03/29/2009, -0/+498 pictures? With a couple duplicates basically...what a joke.
- mrlynam, on 03/29/2009, -6/+53This story is terrible, these comments are terrible.. GTFO of my front page
- cambob76, on 03/29/2009, -0/+31underwhelming slide show. I think I could google 'Google' and get a better selection of pics
- sexLethal, on 03/29/2009, -2/+27That can be the laundry room at any office.
- FutureGuy, on 03/29/2009, -2/+22But the title has "Google" in it, auto diggs. Coming up next, photos of Google's ventilation systems (hint: they don't circulate air).
- MooseOfReason, on 03/29/2009, -2/+22Does Google have its own currency?
- scarlettletter, on 03/28/2009, -7/+25That guys is really wearing a helmet!
- GoKings, on 03/29/2009, -0/+15VOLLEYBALL NET with nobody playing?! LAUNDRY MACHINES?! OH MAN! I guess the stories of the majestic Googleplex is true!
- christoast, on 03/29/2009, -2/+16Do you have to have a Phd to work as a janitor there?
- navidb, on 03/29/2009, -1/+13*crickets*
- ttoastt, on 03/29/2009, -1/+13I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the collection of photos was piss-poor.
- GalaxyEngine, on 03/29/2009, -0/+9 Yeah I been there too.. that is ONE building out of many, the one which they take everyone to impress. The other buildings are just like any other boring beige and cubical driven sweatshop corporation... trust me it aint that great.

"Hi, Thank you for your help with the last one, It just hit. Please take give this a digg too, I am sure you will enjoy putting this myth to rest :). Enjoy your weekend. Last sub/shout for me. Thank you again."
Garbage power user spam hitting front page. Bury this feces and the user who provided it - BoxAdorable, on 03/29/2009, -3/+10Doing laundry "WHILE AT WORK" saves you from the time it takes to do laundry WHILE NOT AT WORK. Speaking as someone who doesn't have a washer/dryer, doing laundry is a time-consuming pain in the ass.
- WhoaABlueCar, on 03/28/2009, -1/+7the guy in the back of the first picture looks like a mix of george lucas and the singer of flaming lips
- inactive, on 03/29/2009, -0/+6I know a couple people who work there. They work 35-40 hours a week with flextime.. sometimes from home if they feel like it
- mrroarke, on 03/29/2009, -1/+7Where are the pictures of the 200 people cleaning out their desks?
- LordBacon, on 03/29/2009, -1/+7It could be dangerous ...
- ToastPop, on 04/17/2009, -1/+7You may be right but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable. I would love to have all that at my work. Considering I spend the majority of my life at work, might as well make the place awesome.
- varchar255, on 03/29/2009, -0/+6The weird bicycle is a "conference bike" that seats seven. You're supposed to hold meetings on it. Seriously.
- MtheoryX, on 03/29/2009, -0/+6That's just Japan though.
- inactive, on 03/29/2009, -2/+7What's that? Making your employees happy increases productivity? Thank you captain obvious. It's still great.
- imneveral0ne, on 03/29/2009, -0/+5and its not even her real pic most likely. welcome to the internet.

- PatrickBrown, on 03/29/2009, -0/+5"By the way, what is up with the exploding Earth? What does that have to do with Google?
This article is perfect for showing that lots of people digg articles without actually reading them or looking at them."
Haha. You complain of people not reading while you do not read the text yourself. - inactive, on 03/29/2009, -3/+8I've seen a lot of pictures describing how great it is to work at Google and these were not them.
By the way, what is up with the exploding Earth? What does that have to do with Google?
This article is perfect for showing that lots of people digg articles without actually reading them or looking at them. - inactive, on 03/29/2009, -1/+6Maybe I'm missing the humor here, but digging him down and laughing at him seems sort of mean.
Oh, this is the internet? Ahhh... gotcha :) - inactive, on 03/29/2009, -1/+6Wow, the Googleplex looks exactly like the old SGI headquarters, right before that company went bankrupt when a new technology (the PC) destroyed their business model that was printing money up until that point.
History doesn't always repeat- but it does rhyme.
(for those that don't know, Google's headquarters are SGI's old headquarters) - Nore, on 03/29/2009, -4/+8Quite the circle jerk they got going on there...
- varchar255, on 03/29/2009, -0/+4Except for the cafes and kitchens with free food.
- capnawesome, on 03/29/2009, -2/+6My cousin works at Google in Japan...same type of atmosphere I guess...he's always putting wacky sure-doesn't-look-like-work! pictures on Facebook.
- bobbknight, on 03/29/2009, -0/+4Life at Google, yawn.
- prettyawesome, on 03/29/2009, -2/+6As someone who's spent a good deal of time inside 'the Googleplex', that's really not a very impressive collection of images.
They should show the large spreads of meals, the racks of food and delicacies on every floor, the dry-cleaning dropoffs, the bicycles lying scattered around for employees to use, and the various other little amenities that set Google apart.
Washing machines, one funny bike, and a few pieces of interesting corperate art do not capture the uniqueness of the Googleplex. - GoKings, on 03/29/2009, -0/+4are*
- dysonlu, on 03/29/2009, -0/+4PC Mag sucks!
- inactive, on 03/29/2009, -0/+4I like how the only physical activity was sitting down while the volleyballs were empty and the laundry rooms had no clothes being washed. Can't make a nerd exercise or wash their clothes.
- WorldGroove, on 03/29/2009, -0/+4@comfort1872
I can tell you from experience, that most start-ups have the culture trickdigger described. That's almost the whole appeal of start-ups. Make them fun for geeks, so they'll be happy to do the job. I'm sure sometimes trickdigger's friends have to work more than 40hrs(assuming they're in engineer'ish positions) from time to time, but he's absolutely right about the culture. I don't know what proof I'm suppose to give you, but you must be the first person I've ever seen that didn't know that about start-ups & cool* compaines.
You should see what goes on in eBay, Paypay & Pixar... and Adobe... and I'm sure a bunch others.
Just search around the internet for blogs & stories.
*Extremely subjective definition. - thegoldenshovel, on 03/29/2009, -0/+3That's it?!
- therealrico, on 03/29/2009, -0/+3Your right supr, I have a few friends who work there and it isn't as great as it is made to look from the outside. There have been jokes of them putting in dorms or apartments on site, and I think it is a very real possibility.
- shamos, on 03/29/2009, -0/+3***** i ***** hate ***** slideshows..
- inactive, on 03/29/2009, -0/+3Auditor sitting in a Google Office at a meeting regrading Job cuts, we need to left five people go from this office but we don't know who yet, cue five clowns cycling around on a bike past the window, case closed.

guys = plural of guy
guy's = possessive form of guy
-OR-
contraction of "guy is"
And finally, guys' = possessive plural form of guy - 45441, on 03/29/2009, -0/+3Thank you, voice of reason.
