- Tolzmaniac, on 06/21/2008, -0/+82It would have been nice if there was something in the video to compare the plane's size to, other than Lego people.
- yokozuka, on 06/21/2008, -0/+67Only in pieces you are looking at a $12,000 price tag on this. And that's just the basic ones, without taking into account the engines (which are electrically powered) and LEDs.
And on top of that, add the 600 hours of labor by a team of Lego professional builders (or a six months of your life :-)
It's out of my budget, that's for sure. - AManWithNoName, on 06/21/2008, -2/+55Gizmodo seems to concentrate more and more on Legos everyday.
- afftools, on 06/21/2008, -1/+47This is pretty awesome! They did a great job on both the life-like appearance and the scale compared to Lego people.
- q1006662, on 06/21/2008, -0/+45Made 2x dorkier by adding the engine sounds
- mentol, on 06/21/2008, -1/+44I demand to know how much does it cost to have my own :) ?
- irfanmp, on 06/21/2008, -2/+43I just hope the LEGO Death Star doesn't go the same route as this...
- amanilaenvelope, on 06/21/2008, -0/+33Doesn't? pretty sure you mean DOES right? Who doesn't want the ultimate power in the universe?Made from LEGO's?!! From LEGO's, i ask you!!!
- Gsicht, on 06/21/2008, -0/+31Dear playmobil-kids:
suck it.
Sincerely,
The LEGO-kids - inactive, on 06/21/2008, -0/+29I'll take two.
- Spoomeister, on 06/21/2008, -1/+27And it probably flies as reliably on-schedule as the real thing.
- yokozuka, on 06/21/2008, -0/+24When I saw this parked in the entrance of Legoland, I couldn't believe the scale of it. In the video it doesn't look as huge as it is. Great model.
- cslawren, on 06/21/2008, -3/+27incredible worksmanship, but as a Boeing shareholder, I have to interject with my obligatory "airbus piece of sh*t"
- inactive, on 06/21/2008, -1/+21If that woman is Lego fan Lindsay Joy, she will probably take you to her bed.
http://gizmodo.com/people/LindsayJoy - Lavarock, on 06/21/2008, -0/+19It's all about presentation:
"What do you do for a living?"
"I'm a highly paid employee of Lego, I make childrens' toys, they love it"
"awwww" - PabloIV, on 06/21/2008, -1/+20Dugg for using lego Millenium Falcons as a standardized reference
- raidereagle13, on 06/21/2008, -0/+16i was just waitin for one of those dudes to fly through the engine! very realistic
- fLUx1337, on 06/22/2008, -0/+14Your going to crash them into each other, aren't you?
- inactive, on 06/21/2008, -1/+13I look back to when I was a kid and having lego . . . wow times have changed. The plane looks amazing.
- inactive, on 06/21/2008, -0/+12Oh it can fly just fine, the problem is landing it.
- Verdanic, on 06/21/2008, -2/+14Who ever ADMITTED to being one of 'them'? They're the same level as mega blocks.
- myocnews, on 06/21/2008, -0/+11Way cool
- Lyght, on 06/21/2008, -0/+11No, they let small, inexperienced children build the models in Legoland.
- yokozuka, on 06/21/2008, -1/+11Actually, you can hear the same jet engine sound on location, but it was too windy and the camera was getting a lot of noise. That's why I replaced the original soundtrack with a clear jet engine noise.
- ViralMonkey, on 06/21/2008, -1/+11LEGO's what?
- Sephaa, on 06/21/2008, -0/+10Makes the death star look like a peanut.
- hexdump, on 06/21/2008, -0/+10The ground crew is is clearly at risk of getting sucked into the engines...
- azizrulez, on 06/21/2008, -2/+11this will literally make you ***** bricks,
a 100 kg bricks in total - KMartSheriff, on 06/21/2008, -0/+9And if you use Megablocks, you might as well be a terrorist.
- inactive, on 06/21/2008, -0/+9The first model was delivered 12 days late.
- dellegazze, on 06/22/2008, -0/+8if you have to ask for the price, you can't afford it.
- leonardoty, on 06/21/2008, -1/+81:25 scale
Says so right in the caption.
Stupid. - t4ll3y, on 06/21/2008, -0/+7At a 1:25 radio, that trench run will be IMPOSSIBLE. I used to bullseye womp rats in my t-16 back home, but COME ON, that's a 20 cm exhaust port.
- DillonHinson, on 06/21/2008, -0/+7No, somebody has an awesome job!
- audiomodder, on 06/21/2008, -2/+8HOLY CRAP THERE'S PROFESSIONAL LEGOLAND MODEL BUILDERS?!?!?!?!?! NEW DREAM JOB FTW!
- Ex3poo, on 06/21/2008, -0/+6Please Mommy?
- dsmx, on 06/21/2008, -1/+6That's the only A380 in the world that was delivered on time and on budget.
- sanman, on 06/21/2008, -0/+5But Lego Airbus is only that big because it's unfairly subsidized by plastic money from the EU.
- BoMEpsilon, on 06/21/2008, -0/+5It's a moon?
- yokozuka, on 06/21/2008, -0/+5It's because I've been at their headquarters at the beginning of the week. The big features—like a video in the Lego secret vault, where all the sets ever made are stored, like new, or the Lego cathedrals, the storage areas with billions of pieces in them, managed by giant robots, Matrix-style—are all hitting next week.
- mabhatter, on 06/22/2008, -0/+5exactly the key is you get PAID for kids toys... so you LIKE kids and have a cool job!!!
- XternalHD, on 06/21/2008, -0/+4Just when I thought I saw every Lego creation possible, something new ruins my *****.
- dantheman733, on 06/22/2008, -0/+4megablocks suck
- firex726, on 06/21/2008, -0/+4Thats no peanut!
- cyberdork, on 06/21/2008, -0/+4And there's one problem with your comment. It's *****. Singapore Airlines has already received 3 A380. And has 7 more on order and an option on 15 more.
- inactive, on 06/21/2008, -0/+4Yeah, if one person was working on it... Which they weren't.
- shagg187, on 06/21/2008, -1/+5Photoshopped. Look at the pixels!
- Terr01, on 06/21/2008, -0/+4Yeah, I was worried about those guys in brown too as they added the sound affects. But don't worry, odds are they'll both be fine.
We can rebuild them. We have the technology. We can make them better than they were. Better...taller...blockier. -
