- Mitsukai, on 04/18/2008, -1/+6This happened in Austin. Apparently the lawyer had a few disagreeable encounters with the prosecutor before. The prosecution was trying to scare this lawyer's client into a plea bargain while the lawyer alleged his client was completely innocent. The judge asked the client and prosecutor to the bench for clarification, and that's when the defense did the jagoff motion.

What is sad is that the lawyer who received this 90 day punishment is kowtowing to the judge ("He was absolutely right!") because he knows that on a whim the judge can extend the sentence. This judge has the same sort of mindset as those who are in favor of torture and indefinite detainment. The problem is that the "checks-and-balances" system often does not apply to judges, and they can get away with whatever they want.
