- idc5, on 04/03/2009, -1/+37If you throw a ton of weed into a volcano, will everyone in Hawaii get HI?
- jamwil87, on 04/02/2009, -3/+39The house looks fine.
But that guy won't be if he doesn't GTFO! - Shadowdev, on 04/03/2009, -0/+33I wonder if he bought volcano insurance..
- angrynorwegian, on 04/03/2009, -0/+28 At worst that lava is menacingly approaching the house, no destruction in this picture except that grass... it got raped
- Elektriq, on 04/03/2009, -0/+23I think it's a she.
look at that ass - fety, on 04/03/2009, -1/+24Put on my ice boots and walk over it.
- GeorgeStone2, on 04/03/2009, -1/+21I'd surf it like any true Hawaiian
- GeorgeStone2, on 04/03/2009, -0/+20You chose the most flammable ***** in your house..
- inactive, on 04/03/2009, -0/+20TO ALL YOU DIGGERS I POSE THIS QUESTION: What if you suddenly woke up in that house one morning surrounded with lava, how would you escape?
- andcore, on 04/02/2009, -2/+21Why is he walking towards the lava?
- arobar, on 04/03/2009, -1/+19Sure it LOOKS fine. But it used to be a two story house.
- inactive, on 04/03/2009, -0/+16The petroleum in the asphalt is ignited easily by the lava and releases black smoke. Fire doesn't spread in green, healthy grass.
- Azzk1kr, on 04/03/2009, -0/+15I'd put on my ring of levitation, or my blessed fireproof +2 waterwalking boots.
- PsychoticX, on 04/03/2009, -0/+13I would jump in the fridge
- worldstoaster, on 04/03/2009, -1/+13i see what you did there
- bazwilliams, on 04/03/2009, -0/+12All he needs to do is duck and cover, the lava will flow right over him and he will be unharmed.
- cdv123cdv, on 04/03/2009, -6/+17lava moves slow dumbass
- GrooTheWanderer, on 04/03/2009, -0/+10Oh, you did. Well I'm sorry, your policy only covers felsic lava. This is basaltic.
- Lhandroval, on 04/03/2009, -0/+9This kind of lava is incredibly slow... it's like a giant enemy turtle that's coming to destroy your house. You can walk away from the turtle just fine but it's going to destroy your house... eventually...
- aceakm, on 04/03/2009, -0/+9Oh you didn't sign up for our Lava Damage policy for only $9 more? ... That's too bad.
- vandalin7, on 04/03/2009, -0/+7Until you trip and fall face first...
- WellHelloThere, on 04/03/2009, -0/+7cause it moves so slow that it doesnt really matter

Consider this your eviction notice.
Sincerely,
God - SmooveO, on 04/03/2009, -2/+7that's hot
- inactive, on 04/03/2009, -0/+5Pelee's got it covered.
- idc5, on 04/03/2009, -0/+5Throw mattresses / sofas on top of the lava to make me a clear path to safety (in under a few sec before the ***** melts)
- Stalinist, on 04/03/2009, -2/+7Speaking of which, remember that time we illegally annexed Hawaii.
- dougmc, on 04/03/2009, -0/+5Taking your question seriously ...
It looks like the lava is only to front of the house. If true, you go out the back door.
If not, and it's surrounded by lava, the land line phone is likely not working, so I'd get on the roof (use an axe to cut a hole in it from the attic if needed) and use a cell phone to call for help. Hopefully a helicopter or firetruck with a long ladder could be gotten to save you.
If that fails, perhaps the fire department could use a lot of water to cool a section of lava long enough to be run over, or throw fire resistant things on it to create a bridge?
Though seriously, this lava moves really slowly, and they probably had several days warning that it was headed their way, plenty of time to get their important stuff and themselves out. - inactive, on 04/03/2009, -0/+4No, diamonds are a variant of coals. They actually burn quite well, similar to anthracite.
I suggest a good triple layer of normal steel, elevated on triangular concrete pillars, about half a meter thick, wedged at least a meter in the ground. Then put several layers of cheap sheet metal under the house, so even if the radiated heat melts a single layer, a layer of air between the layers would radiate the heat away. Add a water circulation that sprays the underside with water, for cooling. Then elevate the house at least 2-3 meters high on those concrete bases. You can even park your car underneath. This should handle most light lava flows. - inactive, on 04/03/2009, -0/+5Oh yeah? What sort of material would withstand that heat, diamonds?
- chaoshauk, on 04/03/2009, -0/+5Because obviously the OP got the caption wrong.. it should read: A House Destroying Lava in Hawaii
Clearly that house is winning. - idc5, on 04/03/2009, -0/+5I take that back, the DEA nor the government would allow an entire state to report 0 violent crimes for an entire day.
- MovieBlog, on 04/03/2009, -0/+5Definitely an old picture (so last century!)
But if you are interested in the slow lava flow that took over the Kalapana Gardens subdivision, here's a good link:

- Azathothh, on 04/03/2009, -0/+4with my helicopter....
- onionoino, on 04/03/2009, -1/+5i'd use my gravity gun to place large objects on the lava and run across real fast.
- WarriorBlake, on 04/03/2009, -0/+4What every self-respecting Digger does: Make Bacon! At least you'll burn alive with the greatest taste in your mouth!
- GeorgeStone2, on 04/03/2009, -0/+4Well, now I'm scared of turtles. Cheers.
- chaos7, on 04/03/2009, -0/+3it's zerg creep
- inactive, on 04/03/2009, -0/+3If the owner of the house could *just have* raised the house *added a little* insulation underneath nothing would be amiss. Why don't people plan? He could have had a delicious black glass lawn? How many people can honestly say they have black glass lawns?
- krytz86, on 04/03/2009, -0/+3According to my uncle, whos a real whizz on volcanoes, a volcano is coming this way
- mdraconis, on 04/03/2009, -0/+3OH MAN!!! That's what you call a good firewall. Eat that Symantec!!!
- NeonDistraction, on 04/03/2009, -0/+3Don't you think we're overdue for one?
- GuitarHeroDenn, on 04/03/2009, -0/+2Reminds me of the subway scene from Volcano. Poor Stan.
- Mersonix, on 04/03/2009, -0/+2Lava moves extremely slowly... no need to run, you could walk away.
