- Samek, on 06/17/2009, -1/+2The best festival in Colombia is on New Year's Eve. All December in Colombia it is a constant partying and it extends well over two weeks in January.
In New Year's Eve, there is a big carnival where all the communities of a city create stuffed dolls (stuffed with ALL SORTS FIREWORKS) with important social/political figures; mostly the ones we want to forget about. The best stuff dolls in some cities are giving awards but no one really cares about that.
During the carnival, it is all a big water balloon/eggs/baking powder fight between the people in the carnival and the people watching. No one is safe! If you don't have a good sense of humor in Colombia then you're *****! At midnight, the dolls are set on fire and the fireworks, drinking, dancing, BBQ easily go over a week. All these is done by communities as oppose to just a family or so.
This is a true Colombian festival in the sense that goes on all over the country. Not just a town no one ever heard off. - S4X0, on 06/17/2009, -0/+1I've been coming to digg for over a year now, today, I finally created an account so I could digg this story for being Colombia-related and not having to do with drugs or violence.
