- whatthegeek, on 11/04/2009, -1/+22I had Starscream, Cobra Commander, and the Zelda game - I could buy a new car if I had never opened them.
- d3dm, on 11/04/2009, -3/+22I wish I still had my puppy.
- ghostgirl27, on 11/04/2009, -1/+14I wish I still had my Zelda games at all!
- Adsthegreen1, on 11/04/2009, -0/+12The worst part? Your dad saying to you when you were a kid "You should take care of those things, Loads of the toys I had when I was younger are worth quite a lot now!" "Yeah, sure dad" *Throws original starscream onto the road in an attempt to make him fly*
- larrysellers7, on 11/04/2009, -0/+11I'd punch an old lady to get my Cobra Commander back still in plastic.
- Howitzer86, on 11/04/2009, -1/+11I wonder how much a vintage puppy on Amazon is worth...
- leif777, on 11/04/2009, -1/+11You made me sad :-(
- sgvprelude, on 11/04/2009, -0/+9I miss my Voltron set.
- amcnair, on 11/04/2009, -0/+9Some Star Wars collector needs to explain to me how the Boba Fett action figure was available in 1979, when Empire Strikes Back came out in May of 1980.
- insanewriters, on 11/04/2009, -0/+8My parents, and probably most others, said the opposite of that. "Throw away that junk - you're not a kid anymore." That's how my classic toys and comics were thrown out.
- wingwangdoodle, on 11/04/2009, -0/+7I never would have thought to hang on to my old video games. I had final fantasy 3 and my mom threw it out... it cost me more to buy it the 2nd time than it did the first. But man... I wish I still had my old Zelda games in box.
- Hellicus, on 11/04/2009, -0/+7Same here mate... 1000 bucks for the Zelda game is insane...
- leif777, on 11/04/2009, -0/+7I lost the head to my original 1979 Boba Fett. You think it's still worth something? (I kid)
I still have him including about 3 dozen more damaged ones. I would have traded millions of dollars for the joy I had opening up those boxes and playing with them for hours. I feel bad for the people that kept them in the packaging only getting a few thousand bucks. It doesn't seem worth it.
... did I mention I still have my original Millennium Falcon? - ICasualty, on 11/04/2009, -0/+7Damn! I had that Zelda game. Oh well.
- PJ1967, on 11/04/2009, -0/+6I wish I still had this...
http://jerz.setonhill.edu/weblog/2009/05/star_trek ... - ugacrew, on 11/04/2009, -0/+6I don't think it's correct in placing that robot in the 60's. I'm a kid from the 80's and I also had a smoky robot. Mine was silver but looked exactly like the one featured in the article. I got mine brand new as well. Besides I think it would have been made of metal if it were from the 60's.
- andyb747, on 11/04/2009, -0/+6There was a set of Empire Strikes Back figures that were released right before the films release as a promotion for the film.
- tgc1, on 11/04/2009, -0/+6But then you'd never have the memories. Some memories are priceless man.
- Awwzm, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5Ditto + Boba Fett. I feel I lost a crap ton of money after reading this list.
- Darthmaul4114, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5Dam, I think my mom has a couple of those barbie dolls stashed away. Too bad my sister cut their hair when she was younger :\
- spatty, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5LEGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
- georgetds, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5On the other hand, they are toys, and would have no value if you had not played with them and liked them enough to want to buy them today.
- shanealeslie, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5Where do you live, and what time do you leave for work? /s
- ingrrid, on 11/04/2009, -0/+5The packaging is worth more than the cartridge.
- jbmcb, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4My mom got me the six million dollar man playset from an estate sale when I was a kid, with the large Steve Austin action figure, and a badass robot hospital bed thing. Steve Carrell's character had it in the 40-year old virgin. I wish I still had it, even opened it has to be worth some money.
- whatthegeek, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4If you search only closed listings, you'll find the closing cost of all of these items (in mint condition of course) is roughly what the list indicates. Keep in mind, the condition of the item, along with current demand dictates the pricing.
- RudeTurnip, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4I had the smoking toy robot (that sold for $10,000 per the article). I grew up in the 1980s, so I guess my parents got it at a yard sale. You had to put a bit of oil in a little well and it would emit a stinky smoke.
Naturally, this item was discarded years ago. - Freezingmoose, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4I had that smoking robot! It was grey, and it didn't smoke much by the time I got it, but I had it! Man, I wish I knew where it was...
- FeloniusMonkey, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4This was my favorite: http://www.feelingretro.com/toys/Misc-Toys/sit-n-s ...
I just wish they'd make it in my current size. - Chebsi, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4I miss my Ninja Turtles that did backflips.
- BubblesTheChimp, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4I know I should feel bad about punching an old lady but damn it feels good to have my Cobra Commander back. It's still in plastic too!
- DjBearPDX, on 11/04/2009, -0/+4What in the hell's an aluminum falcon?
- avianeddy, on 11/04/2009, -1/+4I HAVE that Zelda GB game with box and all.... I seriously doubt it would fetch anywhere close to $1000.
I call *****. - DjBearPDX, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3I still have the knife I played doctor with
- SirLowKey, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3My Boba Fett had the rocket thingy on the back...
- kenlaw, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3Hey Mom why did you give away my Tonka trucks (all metal near mint condition) and Hot Wheels with hundreds of feet of track? And don't even ask about the thousands of comics, she torched.
I still love her but . . . - Freezingmoose, on 11/04/2009, -0/+380s sounds about right. My silver one was passed down to me from my older sisters who grew up in the eighties (I was born in '88).
I remember the smell of that smoke vividly though. Memories... - ketedford, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3Man, I wish I still had all of these!
- asnider, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3Almost all of those are older than I am. I'd wager that they're older than the average Digger, too.
- aywwts4, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3It's sealed. Everyone had the game, it sold millions, few people never opened it.
- lAciDl, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3i still have all my transformers, thundercats, and voltron toys.
- immatellyouwhat, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3MAH EGGGOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
- immatellyouwhat, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3Kids Toys You Wish You Still Had To Sell To Make an Assload of Money.
- immatellyouwhat, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3It's like the article knows what you were thinking!
- PhoebusAl, on 11/04/2009, -0/+3Dammit! Why did I have to play with all of my toys as a kid? Those were valuable investments.
- wingwangdoodle, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Yeah and Megaman 1 is going for $5 too, but SEALED it's going for $750. It makes a big different whether or not it's in the original plastic from the factory.
- haikuFU, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2The one in the 80's was a remake. The one from the 60's was the original. I used to frequent a comic book store in the early 90's that dealt in antique toys, and the old guy behind the counter would talk for hours about that stuff.
- KayinAngel, on 11/04/2009, -1/+3I like the cigarette wasting Toy Robot. I bet he likes to get high as well.
- Spacejack, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2Boba Fett had also appeared in that grotesquerie known as the Holiday Special already. He was essentially created for the purpose of making that figure.
- aywwts4, on 11/04/2009, -0/+2Indeed, a more nostalgic look would be better.
I still wish I had my nerf gun collection and my super soaker 50. Many people wish they still had their old game systems, instead of trading them in for 5 dollars the second the Playstation 1 or the Saturn came out. "Who wants to play old crappy games, this is in 3D!"
Many miss their transformers because they really were pretty cool. And my old train set was pretty awesome, and would still be cool to setup for Christmas. -
