- sandrapearson, on 10/11/2007, -2/+257This moron has no business being a judge...he needs to seek professional help!!
- Dayyve, on 10/11/2007, -1/+159I consider myself a pacifist and always believe there is a logical and fair solution for everything and anything. But man would I love to walk up to this guy on the street and slug him in the face with everything I got. He'd probably sue me for $25 million for the pain and anguish of having to live with broken glasses.
How is he not being 'laughed' out of existence? The rest of society should give this guy a 'professional' beat down and strip his power, he clearly exhibits all the signs of being insane with his demands. - SeaMowse, on 10/11/2007, -3/+146What a waste of taxpayers money. This is a judge from DC? No wonder.
- Dracker, on 10/11/2007, -4/+121Brings new meaning to suing your pants off
- The2ndAct, on 10/11/2007, -3/+77@ Dracker
I'm suing you for $54m for the emotional damage your awful pun has caused me. - rudy23, on 10/11/2007, -4/+71safari on windows
- ICSU, on 10/11/2007, -6/+68That's it. He is ready for presidency.
- sarazen, on 10/11/2007, -2/+57He is more than a moron, he is vindictive and mean. I am all for justice being tough, but done right it should be tempered with mercy. I fear for the poor sods that end up in this judges court.
- ezweave, on 10/11/2007, -0/+50Yeah, this guy is a piece of work.
Do some good and donate a dollar or two to the defendants (check it: http://www.customcleanersdefensefund.com/)
(Edit: this is almost spam, but I feel for these guys) - ABEND954, on 10/11/2007, -0/+48I hope to God that when he loses he is forced to pay court costs of $66 Million.
- AzDraon, on 10/11/2007, -35/+78Come on guys, we don't know the circumstances behind those obviously special pants. Maybe they were made by his mom for his birthday. Or maybe they were the pants he took off when loosing his virginity on his 20th wedding anniversery. Give the guy a break.
- kiiwii, on 10/11/2007, -0/+384chan?
- Azselendor, on 10/11/2007, -1/+38those pants must have been ***** awesome

- SeaMowse, on 10/11/2007, -0/+29@Dayyve - that's what I say. How can he not be being laughed at through all of this? What sort of rep does he have? I'd like to find out more about this assclown. I would NEVER want any case of mine to be tried under his jurisdiction.
- larah, on 10/11/2007, -1/+28the legal system is out of control... the patent system is out of control... who can we blame?... hmmm....
- adamgamble, on 10/11/2007, -1/+27Maybe SATAN?
/SNL Reference - EntropyMan, on 10/11/2007, -1/+26@dracker, he doesn't have a leg to stand on. It's all off the cuff.
I say: Disbar, Disrobe, and De-pant, this SOB so he can never practice or administer law again.
What ever happened to tar and feathering? Is that still considered cruel and unusual? - Pseudorious, on 10/11/2007, -6/+30This is digg, so Bush and Fox News.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/11/2007, -2/+26Canada
- codyman, on 10/11/2007, -1/+23because that would be too easy and wouldn't waste tax payer money
- Arramol, on 10/11/2007, -0/+22I blame Grand Theft Auto.
- evensong, on 10/11/2007, -0/+22This is nothing but an attempt to shut down a mom and pop shop because they lost his pants. The family offered $12,000 to cover whatever his pants cost and other damages. The only emotional damage he has incurred during this is his lost of sanity. Let see him do this with some larger drycleaning chain. He is just trying to take advantage of immigrants who know nothing about the legal system.
- charlah, on 10/11/2007, -0/+22They must have been nice pants..
- xkenny13, on 10/11/2007, -6/+27Axis004: You should do some reading on the McDonalds Hot Coffee incident.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonald%27s_coffee_case - Eldorian, on 10/11/2007, -0/+21I think he should be stripped of his job of being a judge. This just proves that he's very temperamental and has no business what so ever to be someone who makes decisions in court.
- Anrkist, on 10/11/2007, -22/+42@azdraon - I REALLY hope that was sarcasm.
Someone should strangle the guy with said pants. That might be worth 64 million. - jooksiumiu, on 10/11/2007, -0/+19while 99.99%+ of the world takes this as one of the best legal jokes of all times, the korean family who runs the shop is living thru a nightmare. come on, $54mil for a ***** pair of pants??! and how the ***** such case was allowed to go to court? yeah the legal system does work.
- directedition, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18The pants! Dear God won't SOMEONE think of the pants!
- djSyndrome, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18Welcome to today, asshat. The hearing was yesterday, and the article was published last night.
- robbh66, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18The judge needs to be struck from the bench and disbarred...immediately.
- dmcbride6, on 10/11/2007, -3/+18The lady had multiple severe burns - had to get surgery and everything.
While the coffee cup lady had some very mocking press of the situation - it was absolutely nothing to laugh about. - SteelFrog, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16Ghostbusters!
...oh wait. - Alegoo92, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15I heard this, and could've of sworn they were kidding.. I mean what the hell?!
- disillusioned, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14Again, you really need to read up on this.
The woman asked for just $11,000 at first--enough to just cover the medical costs.
McDonald's refused. As the case progressed and took considerably longer, the requests went up. Finally, McDonalds was ordered to pay $800k, and there had been previously settled cases where they had paid out $500k+ before. Read the damn wiki. OR, poor scalding coffee on your lap while wearing sweatpants and see how things go over for you. - thelab101, on 10/11/2007, -2/+15@anrkist - obviously the guy is being sarcastic.
"Or maybe they were the pants he took off when loosing his virginity on his 20th wedding anniversery."
The extreme nature of the statement is obviously cluing us into the notion that his comment was to be interpreted as a joke. - djSyndrome, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12If he's already crying now, he's going to have a heart attack when he gets hit with the Chung's legal bill for bringing a frivolous suit against them.
- cactus476, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10"He alleges [...] committed fraud and misled consumers with signs that claimed 'Satisfaction Guaranteed' and 'Same Day Service.'"
You've got to be ***** kidding me! - Zippo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11This is what's wrong with America's legal system.
- vcleniuk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10From what I read, it sounds like this judge needs psychological counseling for other issues, before he is allowed to present his case.
Sh!t happens, deal with it. - dnguyen411, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12@ gmprunner
If you read the case, the lady was asking McDonalds to cover her medical fees since they did cover medical fees for other people who were injured by McDonalds super hot coffee. In this case, McDonalds thought they could argue that they weren't liable to pay medical fees to any more people and they wanted to use this case as the precedent. Unfortunetly for them, it did not turn out that way and the jury awarded the lady with millions of dollars. - JD52, on 10/11/2007, -4/+13Did he cry out for his mommy?
- rptcalyptos, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10saw this late last night ... instead of sueing why doesn't he take the money he's going to spend on legal fees and buy a few other pair(s) of pants?
- MikeonTV, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10They were really nice pants guys
- MrMidi, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9I do not think the owners of the store will have to pay a cent. I think the trial judge will see that this guy is insane and will require him to pay court costs and legal fees for Custom Cleaner. They may be asked to refund the value of his pants, if that. I think Custom Clean could counter sue this crazy judge for the money that their business is losing while they have to be in court, not to mention that this judge has tainted their companies name publicly, which may make it harder to get future business.
- Brian48216, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Please help write letters to the DC legal system to get this case thrown out and this man disbarred.
In case you don't know the background story, the owners of the dry cleaners are korean immigrants.
The judge makes at least $100,000 a year.
The cleaners offered the judge $12,000 finally in an effort to stop him from suing.
And now he's trying to sue a small dry cleaner for over $60million. $500,000 of which is for emotional damages. - gurp13, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8I blame the RIAA!!!!
- straybullet21, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11ya gotta blame the dry cleaners for loosing his...... wait....... they found his pants and offered to give them back with a settlement and he still refused? oh boy, if he wins, I'm gonna go to his house, and murder his family. then im gonna sue him for emotional trauma, becausei killed someone and just can't live with myself.
how much should that be worth.... 20... 30 million?? - ArchieAndrews, on 10/11/2007, -10/+17Clinton?
