- inactive, on 06/10/2008, -16/+114It shows how pointless drug trials are.
- vtbarrera, on 02/03/2009, -4/+86Probably the same jurors from the OJ trial.
- cjacks9, on 06/10/2008, -2/+57Surefire way to get out of jury duty. Perhaps they should have done that during the selection phase when answering questions.
- doctechnical, on 06/10/2008, -8/+59I've played Solitaire on my PDA during IT meetings. I was called on it only once, and after I repeated everything the person had said over the past two minutes verbatim they STFU and sat down. Now leave me and my solitaire alone!
- dmourati, on 06/10/2008, -1/+45You have a right to trial by a jury of your peers.
- optophobia, on 06/10/2008, -0/+36would have been even funnier if they were playing HANGMAN :)
- feliks2, on 06/10/2008, -1/+34Peers as in fellow drug dealers?
- NeoPlatonist, on 06/10/2008, -1/+28Yeah, those damn Un-American Australians... RTFA...
- liquisoft, on 06/10/2008, -0/+27As boring as trials may be, this is inexcusable. Even though this happened in Australia, there is a sense of duty no matter what court you're in. If you're a juror, it's very serious stuff.
- chris8535, on 06/10/2008, -0/+23Wow... thats SOOOO cool. Teach me of your awesome office ways Stanley.
- ee80, on 06/10/2008, -4/+27Spoken like a true victim of drug propaganda
- iofthestorm, on 06/10/2008, -0/+20Probably should have, if they were going to pull a stupid stunt like that during the trial. FFS, don't mess with the justice system, if you want to get out of it fine but the judiciary needs proper jurors to function properly. Have a sense of civic duty and whatnot. I realize that may be hard to come by on digg, but please, no matter what your opinions of the government are, juries are supposed to be the people's check on the government, but if they don't do their job they're obstructing justice.
- PrintScrn12, on 06/10/2008, -0/+18...and the auto-pilot was playing computer chess with itself.
- Rikkochet, on 06/10/2008, -2/+20IDEA: When selecting jurors, ask them if they actually WANT to be a juror. If they don't, they'll probably pay next to no attention because they don't want to be there.
Don't governments remember high school? - AussieCynic, on 06/10/2008, -10/+26you have got to be kidding... thats just so bad...
- KSUdesigner, on 06/10/2008, -0/+16Yeah, because if someone is going to notice that you are writing vertically, they certainly aren't going to notice a small rotating machine sitting there. I think you smoked a little too much ganja my friend.
- tomd123, on 06/10/2008, -0/+15If they did, they would have fixed high school by now.
- doctechnical, on 06/10/2008, -0/+14*Pretend* to be writing horizontally, but only touch the pen to paper when hovering over the desired square.
- ligyron, on 06/10/2008, -2/+15In other news, the pilots on your last flight were playing Connect Four
- manfrin, on 06/10/2008, -1/+14"Note to self... next time when called up for Jury Duty, write notes vertically."
- sambapati87, on 06/10/2008, -0/+12Extreme Anti-American comments (despite that the story is from Australia) in 5, 4, 3.....
- chanop, on 06/10/2008, -0/+12hit the back button a few times on your browser, you'll be back in 4chan

LMAO!
Before the war on drugs we had 2% of the population addicted. Today we have 2% addicted. All of the drug trials and all of the mandatory minimum sentencing and all of the propaganda have done nothing but put millions of people in prison or probation and cost trillions of dollars.
Oh, by the way, they can still get those same drugs in prison.
If you don't see how pointless drug trials are you have absolutely no maturity in you.
BTW I served this great Nation in the Armed Forces in the seventies so you can stop with your namecalling and whining.
I know more about addiction today than you will in your entire life.
Laws don't stop addiction.
Drug trials don't stop addiction. Prison sentences don't stop addiction, they all waste time energy and money that could be better spent treating addiction .
It was good enough for that Bush kid. It was good enough for Patrick Kennedy and Limbaugh but if you are poor or not politically connected you get sent to jail.
Maybe when you grow up you will understand. - doctechnical, on 06/10/2008, -0/+11Dugg for great justice.
- gabrielsond, on 06/10/2008, -0/+10government IS high school :P
- MaskedSlacker, on 06/10/2008, -1/+11They'd have to. Everyone in the US knows they're idiots.
- visionaryIX, on 06/10/2008, -0/+9Its also a fundamental principle of legality that you have the right to trial from your peers if you so choose.
Considering you're potentially dealing with the freedom and liberty of an individual, the least you can do is pay some attention. - Oxygen, on 06/10/2008, -1/+9Yah, everyone knows they're all guilty. Really no need for the trial in the first place.
:P - loganhuddleston, on 06/10/2008, -1/+7This sounds a lot like sociology last semester.
- aladrin, on 06/10/2008, -1/+8That may be true, but this was while evidence was being presented. That is -not- the time to play paper puzzles.
- chanop, on 06/10/2008, -0/+7I can't find this "life" in any torrent downloads,
- str1fe, on 06/10/2008, -2/+9@DiggGeek24
I lost a cousin to drugs, but he was doing hard ***** like heroin and cocaine. I have other close friends and family members who do pot and don't let it really phase them. So don't act like you're the only one on this website who knows what he's talking about.
Hell, I'm more worried about my family members that smoke standard tobacco cigarettes than the pot smokers. Things like heroin? Yeah, obviously those are bad, but marijuana isn't.
Of course, the article doesn't state specifically which drugs (and neither did you, really), so I guess this is kind of a moot point. - funkyloki, on 06/10/2008, -0/+6Sudoku is a square, it really doesn't matter which way you turn it, it all tends to be the same.
- str1fe, on 06/10/2008, -1/+7What, they all moved to Australia?
- dramey, on 06/11/2008, -0/+6 I sat on a jury 6 months ago on some frivolous lawsuit and was bored out of my mind. I did everything but cough up a lung to get out of it, but I just couldn’t bring myself to fake a medical condition or play the race card like many of the people there did. There is no such thing as a fair jury trial. After a week I was ready to cast my vote in favor of whoever would have got me out of there quicker. I was not alone, all the jurors were joking about it. Both lawyers were slimy, I had no sympathy for either of them or their clients.
The judge was working on a laptop most of the trial. I presumed, he was doing legal stuff. After the trial was over (the slimebags settled making our week even more pointless). I asked him what he did on the computer. “Oh you know, I surf mostly, I’m on eBay a lot and my wife must email me 10 times a day”. Say what? I wish I could have brought my laptop, at least I would have stayed awake. - inactive, on 06/10/2008, -0/+6He died from cocaine some idiot at a party spiked his drink with it he had a heart condition and died.
- N256, on 06/10/2008, -0/+6Definitely from 4chan.
- dleesgeetar, on 06/10/2008, -5/+10so bad its good!
- madbadger, on 06/10/2008, -1/+7maybe they were writing vertically in Chinese
- dezmo, on 06/10/2008, -2/+8for how long?
- GordonClass, on 06/10/2008, -5/+9I've been on jury duty 4 times and I can tell ya that it's 90% boredom while the lawyers are trying to figure out their next move.
- thirteenthcor, on 06/10/2008, -2/+7ROFL
- MaskedSlacker, on 06/10/2008, -0/+5Not being able to figure out a fairly simple puzzle with a rather solution is not the kind of thing to admit in public.
- inactive, on 06/10/2008, -0/+5He should've aborted the jury instead.
- KableKiB, on 06/10/2008, -0/+5dug deeper :)
- joshzweig, on 06/11/2008, -0/+4Thank you for corrupting the justice system.
- Synova, on 06/10/2008, -8/+11My kind of jury.
- NotOptium, on 06/10/2008, -2/+6I lost my sister ON drugs. Does that count? It was a scary 7 hours (or 15 minutes, depending on who you ask).
- Phil13, on 06/10/2008, -0/+4I felt bad that I accidentally hit 'Report user' instead of showing replies on you by mistake, but after seeing your reply to chanop it was well deserved.
Chill dude. -
